Luke 19

BIB(i) 1 Καὶ (And) εἰσελθὼν (having entered), διήρχετο (He was passing through) τὴν (-) Ἰεριχώ (Jericho). 2 Καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἀνὴρ (a man) ὀνόματι (by name) καλούμενος (called) Ζακχαῖος (Zacchaeus), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (he) ἦν (was) ἀρχιτελώνης (a chief tax collector), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (he was) πλούσιος (rich). 3 καὶ (And) ἐζήτει (he was seeking) ἰδεῖν (to see) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), τίς (who) ἐστιν (He is), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠδύνατο (he was able) ἀπὸ (because of) τοῦ (the) ὄχλου (crowd), ὅτι (because) τῇ (-) ἡλικίᾳ (in stature) μικρὸς (small) ἦν (he was). 4 καὶ (And) προδραμὼν (having run) εἰς (to) τὸ (the) ἔμπροσθεν (front) ἀνέβη (he went up) ἐπὶ (into) συκομορέαν (a sycamore-fig tree), ἵνα (so that) ἴδῃ (he might see) αὐτόν (Him), ὅτι (for) ἐκείνης (that way) ἤμελλεν (He was about) διέρχεσθαι (to pass). 5 Καὶ (And) ὡς (as) ἦλθεν (He came) ἐπὶ (to) τὸν (the) τόπον (place), ἀναβλέψας (having looked up), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτόν (him), “Ζακχαῖε (Zacchaeus), σπεύσας (having hurried) κατάβηθι (come down); σήμερον (today) γὰρ (for) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) οἴκῳ (house) σου (of you) δεῖ (it behooves) με (Me) μεῖναι (to stay).” 6 Καὶ (And) σπεύσας (having hurried), κατέβη (he came down) καὶ (and) ὑπεδέξατο (received) αὐτὸν (Him), χαίρων (rejoicing). 7 καὶ (And) ἰδόντες (having seen it), πάντες (all) διεγόγγυζον (were grumbling), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), “Παρὰ (With) ἁμαρτωλῷ (a sinful) ἀνδρὶ (man) εἰσῆλθεν (He has entered) καταλῦσαι (to stay).” 8 Σταθεὶς (Having stood) δὲ (then), Ζακχαῖος (Zacchaeus) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord), “Ἰδοὺ (Behold), τὰ (the) ἡμίσιά* (half) μου (of me) τῶν (of the) ὑπαρχόντων (possessions), Κύριε (Lord), τοῖς (to the) πτωχοῖς (poor) δίδωμι (I give); καὶ (and) εἴ (if) τινός (of anyone) τι (anything) ἐσυκοφάντησα (I have defrauded), ἀποδίδωμι (I restore it) τετραπλοῦν (fourfold).” 9 Εἶπεν (Said) δὲ (then) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) ὅτι (-), “Σήμερον (Today) σωτηρία (salvation) τῷ (to the) οἴκῳ (house) τούτῳ (this) ἐγένετο (has come), καθότι (because) καὶ (also) αὐτὸς (he) υἱὸς (a son) Ἀβραάμ (of Abraham) ἐστιν (is). 10 ἦλθεν (Came) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ζητῆσαι (to seek) καὶ (and) σῶσαι (to save) τὸ (that) ἀπολωλός (having been lost).” 11 Ἀκουόντων (Were hearing) δὲ (while) αὐτῶν (they) ταῦτα (these things), προσθεὶς (having proceeded), εἶπεν (He spoke) παραβολὴν (a parable), διὰ (because) τὸ (-) ἐγγὺς (near) εἶναι (being) Ἰερουσαλὴμ (Jerusalem) αὐτὸν (of His), καὶ (and) δοκεῖν (thinking) αὐτοὺς (their) ὅτι (that) παραχρῆμα (immediately) μέλλει (is about) ἡ (the) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἀναφαίνεσθαι (to appear). 12 εἶπεν (He said) οὖν (therefore), “Ἄνθρωπός (A man) τις (certain) εὐγενὴς (of noble birth) ἐπορεύθη (proceeded) εἰς (to) χώραν (a country) μακρὰν (distant), λαβεῖν (to receive) ἑαυτῷ (for himself) βασιλείαν (a kingdom) καὶ (and) ὑποστρέψαι (to return). 13 καλέσας (Having called) δὲ (then) δέκα (ten) δούλους (servants) ἑαυτοῦ (of himself), ἔδωκεν (he gave) αὐτοῖς (to them) δέκα (ten) μνᾶς (minas) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), ‘Πραγματεύσασθε (Do business) ἐν (until) ᾧ (that) ἔρχομαι (I come back).’ 14 Οἱ (-) δὲ (But) πολῖται (the citizens) αὐτοῦ (of him) ἐμίσουν (hated) αὐτόν (him) καὶ (and) ἀπέστειλαν (sent) πρεσβείαν (a delegation) ὀπίσω (after) αὐτοῦ (him), λέγοντες (saying), ‘Οὐ (Not) θέλομεν (we are willing for) τοῦτον (this man) βασιλεῦσαι (to reign) ἐφ’ (over) ἡμᾶς (us).’ 15 Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass) ἐν (on) τῷ (the) ἐπανελθεῖν (returning) αὐτὸν (of him), λαβόντα (having received) τὴν (the) βασιλείαν (kingdom), καὶ (that) εἶπεν (he directed) φωνηθῆναι (to be called) αὐτῷ (to him) τοὺς (the) δούλους (servants) τούτους (these) οἷς (to whom) δεδώκει (he had given) τὸ (the) ἀργύριον (money), ἵνα (in order that) γνοῖ (he might know) 〈τίς〉 (each) τί (what) διεπραγματεύσαντο (had gained by trading). 16 Παρεγένετο (Came up) δὲ (then) ὁ (the) πρῶτος (first), λέγων (saying), ‘Κύριε (Lord), ἡ (the) μνᾶ (mina) σου (of you), δέκα (ten) προσηργάσατο (has produced) μνᾶς (more minas).’ 17 Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτῷ (to him), ‘Εὖγε (Well done), ἀγαθὲ (good) δοῦλε (servant)! ὅτι (Because) ἐν (in) ἐλαχίστῳ (very little), πιστὸς (faithful) ἐγένου (you were), ἴσθι (to be) ἐξουσίαν (having authority) ἔχων (you are) ἐπάνω (over) δέκα (ten) πόλεων (cities).’ 18 Καὶ (And) ἦλθεν (came) ὁ (the) δεύτερος (second), λέγων (saying), ‘Ἡ (The) μνᾶ (mina) σου (of you), κύριε (Lord), ἐποίησεν (has made) πέντε (five) μνᾶς (minas).’ 19 Εἶπεν (He said) δὲ (then) καὶ (also) τούτῳ (to this one), ‘Καὶ (And) σὺ (you) ἐπάνω (over) γίνου (are to be) πέντε (five) πόλεων (cities).’ 20 Καὶ (And) ὁ (-) ἕτερος (another) ἦλθεν (came), λέγων (saying), ‘Κύριε (Lord), ἰδοὺ (behold) ἡ (the) μνᾶ (mina) σου (of you), ἣν (which) εἶχον (I kept) ἀποκειμένην (lying away) ἐν (in) σουδαρίῳ (a piece of cloth). 21 ἐφοβούμην (I was afraid) γάρ (for) σε (of you), ὅτι (because) ἄνθρωπος (a man) αὐστηρὸς (harsh) εἶ (you are). αἴρεις (You take up) ὃ (what) οὐκ (not) ἔθηκας (you did lay down), καὶ (and) θερίζεις (you reap) ὃ (what) οὐκ (not) ἔσπειρας (you did sow).’ 22 Λέγει (He says) αὐτῷ (to him), ‘Ἐκ (Out of) τοῦ (the) στόματός (mouth) σου (of you) κρίνω (I will judge) σε (you), πονηρὲ (evil) δοῦλε (servant). ᾔδεις (You knew) ὅτι (that) ἐγὼ (I) ἄνθρωπος (a man) αὐστηρός (harsh) εἰμι (am), αἴρων (taking up) ὃ (what) οὐκ (not) ἔθηκα (I did lay down) καὶ (and) θερίζων (reaping) ὃ (what) οὐκ (not) ἔσπειρα (I did sow)? 23 καὶ (Then) διὰ (because of) τί (why) οὐκ (not) ἔδωκάς (did you give) μου (of me) τὸ (the) ἀργύριον (money) ἐπὶ (to) τράπεζαν (the bank), κἀγὼ (and I) ἐλθὼν (having come), σὺν (with) τόκῳ (interest) ἂν (-) αὐτὸ (it) ἔπραξα (might have collected)?’ 24 Καὶ (And) τοῖς (to those) παρεστῶσιν (standing by) εἶπεν (he said), ‘Ἄρατε (Take) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτοῦ (him) τὴν (the) μνᾶν (mina), καὶ (and) δότε (give it) τῷ (to the one) τὰς (the) δέκα (ten) μνᾶς (minas) ἔχοντι (having).’ 25 Καὶ (And) εἶπαν (they said) αὐτῷ (to him), ‘Κύριε (Master), ἔχει (he has) δέκα (ten) μνᾶς (minas).’ 26 ‘Λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ὅτι (that) παντὶ (to everyone) τῷ (-) ἔχοντι (having) δοθήσεται (will be given); ἀπὸ (from) δὲ (however) τοῦ (the one) μὴ (not) ἔχοντος (having), καὶ (even) ὃ (that which) ἔχει (he has) ἀρθήσεται (will be taken away). 27 πλὴν (Furthermore), τοὺς (the) ἐχθρούς (enemies) μου (of mine) τούτους (these), τοὺς (those) μὴ (not) θελήσαντάς (having been willing for) με (me) βασιλεῦσαι (to reign) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτοὺς (them), ἀγάγετε (bring) ὧδε (here) καὶ (and) κατασφάξατε (slay) αὐτοὺς (them) ἔμπροσθέν (before) μου (me).’” 28 Καὶ (And) εἰπὼν (having said) ταῦτα (these things) ἐπορεύετο (He went on) ἔμπροσθεν (ahead), ἀναβαίνων (going up) εἰς (to) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem). 29 Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass) ὡς (as) ἤγγισεν (He drew near) εἰς (to) Βηθφαγὴ (Bethphage) καὶ (and) Βηθανίαν (Bethany), πρὸς (toward) τὸ (the) ὄρος (mount) τὸ (-) καλούμενον (called) Ἐλαιῶν (Olivet), ἀπέστειλεν (He sent) δύο (two) τῶν (of the) μαθητῶν (disciples), 30 λέγων (saying), “Ὑπάγετε (Go) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) κατέναντι (ahead) κώμην (village), ἐν (in) ᾗ (which) εἰσπορευόμενοι (entering) εὑρήσετε (you will find) πῶλον (a colt) δεδεμένον (having been tied), ἐφ’ (on) ὃν (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) πώποτε (ever yet) ἀνθρώπων (of men) ἐκάθισεν (has sat); καὶ (and) λύσαντες (having untied) αὐτὸν (it), ἀγάγετε (bring it). 31 καὶ (And) ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) ὑμᾶς (you) ἐρωτᾷ (asks), ‘Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) λύετε (do you untie it)?’ οὕτως (thus) ἐρεῖτε (will you say), ‘Ὅτι (Because) Ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) αὐτοῦ (of it) χρείαν (need) ἔχει (has).’” 32 Ἀπελθόντες (Having departed) δὲ (then), οἱ (those) ἀπεσταλμένοι (having been sent) εὗρον (found it) καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (He had said) αὐτοῖς (to them). 33 λυόντων (On untying) δὲ (then) αὐτῶν (of them) τὸν (the) πῶλον (colt), εἶπαν (said) οἱ (the) κύριοι (masters) αὐτοῦ (of it) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Τί (Why) λύετε (untie you) τὸν (the) πῶλον (colt)?” 34 Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they said) ὅτι (-), “Ὁ (The) Κύριος (Lord) αὐτοῦ (of it) χρείαν (need) ἔχει (has).” 35 Καὶ (And) ἤγαγον (they led) αὐτὸν (it) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), καὶ (and) ἐπιρίψαντες (having cast) αὐτῶν (their) τὰ (-) ἱμάτια (garments) ἐπὶ (on) τὸν (the) πῶλον (colt), ἐπεβίβασαν (they put on it) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus). 36 Πορευομένου (Going) δὲ (then) αὐτοῦ (of Him), ὑπεστρώννυον (they were spreading) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (garments) ἑαυτῶν (of them) ἐν (on) τῇ (the) ὁδῷ (road). 37 ἐγγίζοντος (Drawing near) δὲ (then) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἤδη (already) πρὸς (at) τῇ (the) καταβάσει (descent) τοῦ (of the) ὄρους (Mount) τῶν (-) Ἐλαιῶν (of Olives), ἤρξαντο (began) ἅπαν (all) τὸ (the) πλῆθος (multitude) τῶν (of the) μαθητῶν (disciples), χαίροντες (rejoicing), αἰνεῖν (to praise) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) φωνῇ (in a voice) μεγάλῃ (loud) περὶ (for) πασῶν (all) ὧν (which) εἶδον (they had seen) δυνάμεων (the mighty works), 38 λέγοντες (saying): “Εὐλογημένος (Blessed is) ὁ (the) ἐρχόμενος (coming) ὁ (-) Βασιλεὺς (King) ἐν (in) ὀνόματι (the name) Κυρίου (of the Lord).” “Ἐν (In) οὐρανῷ (heaven) εἰρήνη (peace), καὶ (and) δόξα (glory) ἐν (in) ὑψίστοις (the highest).” 39 Καί (And) τινες (some) τῶν (of the) Φαρισαίων (Pharisees) ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (the) ὄχλου (crowd) εἶπαν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτόν (Him), “Διδάσκαλε (Teacher), ἐπιτίμησον (rebuke) τοῖς (the) μαθηταῖς (disciples) σου (of You).” 40 Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), εἶπεν (He said), “Λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you) ‹ὅτι› (that) ἐὰν (if) οὗτοι (these) σιωπήσουσιν (will be silent), οἱ (the) λίθοι (stones) κράξουσιν (will cry out).” 41 Καὶ (And) ὡς (as) ἤγγισεν (He drew near), ἰδὼν (having seen) τὴν (the) πόλιν (city), ἔκλαυσεν (He wept) ἐπ’ (over) αὐτήν (it), 42 λέγων (saying) ὅτι (-), “Εἰ (If) ἔγνως (you had known) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἡμέρᾳ (day) ταύτῃ (this), καὶ (even) σὺ (you), τὰ (the things) πρὸς (for) εἰρήνην (peace)! νῦν (Now) δὲ (however) ἐκρύβη (they are hidden) ἀπὸ (from) ὀφθαλμῶν (eyes) σου (of you). 43 ὅτι (For) ἥξουσιν (will come) ἡμέραι (days) ἐπὶ (upon) σὲ (you) καὶ (that) παρεμβαλοῦσιν (will cast around) οἱ (the) ἐχθροί (enemies) σου (of you) χάρακά (a barricade) σοι (you); καὶ (and) περικυκλώσουσίν (they will surround) σε (you) καὶ (and) συνέξουσίν (will hem in) σε (you) πάντοθεν (on every side), 44 καὶ (and) ἐδαφιοῦσίν (will level to the ground) σε (you) καὶ (and) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) σου (of you) ἐν (within) σοί (you), καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἀφήσουσιν (will leave) λίθον (a stone) ἐπὶ (upon) λίθον (a stone) ἐν (within) σοί (you), ἀνθ’ (in place of) ὧν (which) οὐκ (not) ἔγνως (you knew) τὸν (the) καιρὸν (season) τῆς (the) ἐπισκοπῆς (of visitation) σου (of you).” 45 Καὶ (And) εἰσελθὼν (having entered) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) ἱερὸν (temple), ἤρξατο (He began) ἐκβάλλειν (to cast out) τοὺς (those) πωλοῦντας (selling), 46 λέγων (saying) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Γέγραπται (It has been written): ‘Καὶ (And) ἔσται (will be) ὁ (the) οἶκός (house) μου (of Me) οἶκος (a house) προσευχῆς (of prayer).’ ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (however) αὐτὸν (it) ἐποιήσατε (have made) ‘Σπήλαιον (a den) λῃστῶν (of robbers).’” 47 Καὶ (And) ἦν (He was) διδάσκων (teaching) τὸ (-) καθ’ (every) ἡμέραν (day) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἱερῷ (temple); οἱ (the) δὲ (however) ἀρχιερεῖς (chief priests) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) ἐζήτουν (were seeking) αὐτὸν (Him) ἀπολέσαι (to destroy), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πρῶτοι (foremost) τοῦ (of the) λαοῦ (people). 48 καὶ (And) οὐχ (not) εὕρισκον (they found) τὸ (-) τί (what) ποιήσωσιν (they might do); ὁ (the) λαὸς (people) γὰρ (for) ἅπας (all) ἐξεκρέματο* (were hanging on) αὐτοῦ (His words), ἀκούων (listening).
