Joshua 14

VIN(i) 1 And these are the heritages which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar, the priest, and Joshua, the son of Nun, and the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, gave out to them; 2 Their inheritance is by pebble, as yah veh misvahed by the hand of mosheh for the nine rods and for the half rod. 3 For Moses had given the two tribes and the half tribe their inheritance over the Jordan,—but, unto the Levites, gave he no inheritance in their midst; 4 For the sons of Joseph were two tribes—Manasseh and Ephraim. And a portion was not given to the Levites in the land, but only cities to dwell in, and their outskirts for their cattle and their herds. 5 So the Israelites did just as the Lord had commanded Moses they divided the land. 6 Then the descendants of Judah came to Joshua at Gilgal; and Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know the word that the LORD said to Moses the man of God at Kadesh Barnea concerning you and me. 7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land. And I brought him word again as it was in my heart. 8 But my brothers that went up with me made the heart of the people melt; yet I fully followed the LORD my God. 9 And Moses swore on that day, saying, Surely the land on which your feet have trodden shall be your inheritance, and your children's forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God. 10 And now, as you see, the Lord has kept me safe these forty-five years, from the time when the Lord said this to Moses, while Israel was wandering in the waste land: and now I am eighty-five years old. 11 I am still strong this day, as when the lord sent me: just so strong am i now to go out and to come in for war. 12 So now give me this hill country that the LORD spoke of on that day, for you heard on that day that the Anakites were there, with great and fortified cities. Perhaps the LORD is with me, and I will drive them out just as the LORD promised." 13 Joshua blessed Caleb the son of Jephunneh and gave him Hebron for an inheritance. 14 Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he followed the LORD, the God of Israel wholeheartedly. 15 Now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba, after the greatest man among the Anakim. Then the land had rest from war.
