Ezekiel 33

YECHEZQ EL, THE WATCHER
And so be the word of Yah Veh to me, saying, 2 Son of humanity, word to the sons of your people, and say to them, When I bring the sword on a land, if the people of the land take one man from their edges, and give him for their watcher: 3 and he sees the sword approach the land, he blasts the shophar and enlightens the people: 4 and in hearing, one hears the voice of the shophar, and takes not warning; and the sword approaches and takes him away, his blood is on his own head: 5 for he hears the voice of the shophar, and takes not warning; his blood is on himself: and he who takes warning, rescues his soul. 6 And if the watcher sees the sword approach, and neither blasts the shophar nor warns the people; if the sword approaches and takes a soul from among them, he is taken away in his perversity; and I require his blood at the hand of the watcher. 7 Thus you, O son of humanity, I give you as a watcher to the house of Yisra El: so hear the word at my mouth and enlighten them from me; 8 saying to the wicked, O wicked, in dying, you die if you word not to enlighten the wicked from his way: that wicked dies in his perversity and I seek his blood at your hand. 9 And you, if you enlighten the wicked to turn from his way and he turns not from his way, he dies in his perversity and you rescue your soul. 10 And you, O son of humanity, say to the house of Yisra El; say thus, saying, Surely our rebellions and our sins are on us, and we vanish in them: how then live we? 11 Say to them, I live - an oracle of Adonay Yah Veh, I delight not in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn - turn from your evil ways; for why die, O house of Yisra El? 12 And you, son of humanity, say to the sons of your people, The justness of the just rescues him not in the day of his rebellion: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he falters not in the day he turns from his wickedness; and the just are not able to live by it in the day he sins. 13 When I say to the just, In living, he lives! - and he confides in his own justness and works wickedness, all his justnesses are not remembered: and for the wickedness he works, he dies for it. 14 And saying to the wicked, In dying, you die; if he turns from his sin, and works judgment and justness; 15 if the wicked restores the pledge and shalams what he stripped; and walks in the statutes of life without working wickedness; in living, he lives; he dies not. 16 Not one of the sins he sinned are remembered to him: he works judgment and justness; in living, he lives. 17
THE WAY OF BALANCE
And the sons of your people say, The way of Adonay is not gauged: and as for them, their way is not gauged. 18 When the just turns from his justness, and works wickedness, he dies thereby: 19 and if the wicked turns from his wickedness, and does judgment and justness, he lives thereby. 20 And you say, The way of Adonay is not gauged. - O you house of Yisra El, I judge every man of you after his ways. 21
YERU SHALEM SMITTEN
And so be it, in the twelfth year of our exile, in the tenth, in the fifth of the month, that one escapee from Yeru Shalem comes to me, saying, The city is smitten. 22 the hand of Yah Veh is on me in the evening, ere the face of the coming of the escapee; and opens my mouth, until he comes to me in the morning; and my mouth opens and I am no more mute. 23 And so be the word of Yah Veh to me, saying, 24 Son of humanity, they who settle the parched areas of the soil of Yisra El say, saying, Abraham, being one, was successor of the land: but we are many; the land is given us for possession. 25 Why say to them, Thus says Adonay Yah Veh: You eat with the blood and lift your eyes toward your idols and pour blood! Possess you the land? 26 You stand on your sword; you work abhorrence; You foul the woman of the friend of every man: Possess you the land? 27 You, say thus to them, Thus says Adonay Yah Veh: I live! Surely they in the parched areas fall by the sword, and him in the face of the field I give to the live beings to devour; and they in the huntholds and in the caves die of the pestilence. 28 And I give the land a desolation and desolate, and the pomp of her strength shabbathizes; and the mountains of Yisra El desolate so that no one passes through: 29 and they know I - Yah Veh when I give the land a desolation and desolate because of all the abhorrences they work. 30 And you, son of humanity, the sons of your people still word against you beside the walls and in the portals of the houses; and they word one to one, every man to his brother, saying, Come, I beseech you, and hear the word that comes from Yah Veh. 31 And they come to you as people approaching and they sit at your face as my people; and they hear your words, and work them not: for they work pantings with their mouth but their heart goes after their greedy gain: 32 and behold, you are to them as a song of pantings - of a beautiful voice strumming goodly on an instrument: for they hear your words, and they work them not. 33 And when this approaches - behold, it approaches then they know a prophet is among them.
