Mark 1:1-12

ACV(i) 1 The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 2 As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my agent before thy face, who will prepare thy way before thee. 3 The voice of a man crying out in the wilderness: Prepare ye the way of the Lord. Make his paths straight. 4 It came to pass, that John was immersing in the wilderness and preaching an immersion of repentance for remission of sins. 5 And all the land of Judea and the Jerusalemites went out to him, and they were all immersed by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 And John was clothed with camel's hair and a leather belt around his waist, and eating locusts and wild honey. 7 And he preached, saying, A man mightier than I comes after me of whom I am not worthy, having stooped down, to loosen the strap of his shoes. 8 I indeed immersed you in water, but he will immerse you in the Holy Spirit. 9 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was immersed by John in the Jordan. 10 And straightaway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens divided, and the Spirit descending upon him as a dove. 11 And a voice occurred out of the heavens, Thou are my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12 And straightaway the Spirit drives him forth into the wilderness.
