Riverside⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁷ While he was going out into the road, a man came running and knelt before him and asked, "Good teacher, what shall I do to inherit life eternal?" ¹⁸ Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. ¹⁹ You know the commandments: 'Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Do not defraud, Honor thy father and thy mother.' ²⁰ He answered, "Teacher, all these I have kept from my boyhood." ²¹ Jesus looking at him loved him and said to him, "One thing you lack. Go sell all that you have and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come follow me." ²² But his face darkened at that reply, and he went away grieved, for he had great possessions.
