MNT⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁷ As he started to go forth into the road, a man came running up to him, and knelt down before him. "Good Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?" ¹⁸ Jesus said to him. "Why do you call me 'good'? No one is good save one, God himself. ¹⁹ You know the commandments. Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not cheat, honor your father and mother." ²⁰ "Teacher," he answered, "I have observed all these from my youth." ²¹ Jesus loved him as he looked at him, and said: "One thing you lack. Go, sell all you have and give to the poor; and you shall have wealth in heaven; and come, follow me." ²² But his face fell at these words, and he went away saddened, for he was one who had great wealth.
