Luke 24:14-32

NSB(i) 14 They talked between themselves about all the things that happened. 15 While they talked and discussed together Jesus came near and walked with them. 16 But their eyes did not permit them to recognize him. 17 He asked: »What are you talking about with each other as you walk?« They stopped walking and were sad. 18 The one named Cleopas answered him: »Do you travel alone in Jerusalem and not know the things that have happened there these days?« 19 He asked: »What things?« They said to him: »The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene. He was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people. 20 »The chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death. They impaled him! 21 »We hoped he would redeem Israel. Yes and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things happened. 22 »Some of the women of our company stunned us. They went to the tomb early. 23 »They did not find his body. They said that they had also seen a vision of angels, who said that he was alive. 24 »Others with us went to the tomb and found it just as the women said. He was not there!« 25 He said to them: »You are foolish men. You are slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! 26 »Did the Christ need to suffer these things and enter into his glory?« 27 He explained to them all the Scriptures about the things concerning him. He spoke about Moses and all the prophets. 28 They approached the village where they were going and he appeared to be going further. 29 They persuaded him not to go saying, »Abide with us. It is nearly evening and the day is almost gone.« He stayed with them. 30 When he had sat down with them to eat he took the bread and blessed; and breaking it he gave to them. 31 Their eyes were opened and they knew him. Then he vanished out of their sight. 32 They said to each other: »Were our hearts not burning within us? When he spoke to us in the way and opened the scriptures to us?«
