Luke 24:14-32

ABU(i) 14 And they were conversing together concerning all these things that had taken place. 15 And it came to pass, that while they were conversing and reasoning, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. 16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him. 17 And he said to them: What communications are these, that ye have one with another, as ye walk, and are sad? 18 And one, whose name was Cleopas, answering said to him: Dost thou alone sojourn in Jerusalem and not know the things that have come to pass there in these days? 19 And he said to them: What things? And they said to him: The things concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people; 20 and how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him up to be condemned to death, and crucified him. 21 But we were hoping that it was he who was to redeem Israel. But indeed, beside all this, to-day is the third day since these things were done. 22 Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, who were early at the sepulchre; 23 and not finding his body, came saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, who say that he is alive. 24 And some of those who were with us went away to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women said; but him they saw not. 25 Then he said to them: O foolish, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken! 26 Was it not necessary, that the Christ should suffer these things, and enter into his glory? 27 And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. 28 And they drew near to the village, whither they were going; and he made as though he would go further. 29 But they constrained him, saying: Abide with us; for it is toward evening, and the day has declined. And he went in to abide with them. 30 And it came to pass, that as he was reclining at table with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and breaking, gave to them. 31 And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. 32 And they said one to another: Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked to us in the way, and while he opened to us the Scriptures?
