THE BIRTHDAY SUPPER OF HEROD
And so be it, an opportune day: and on his birthday Herod prepares a supper to his magistrates, chiliarchs and preeminent of Galiyl: 22 and the daughter of Herodias enters and dances; and pleases Herod and those who repose with him. And the sovereign says to the maiden, Ask of me whatever you will, and I give you. 23 - and he oaths to her, Whatever you ask of me, I give You, to the half of my sovereigndom.
