SONG OF THE VINEYARD
I beseech, that I sing to my beloved - a song of my beloved touching his vineyard - my beloved has a vineyard in the horn of the son of oil: 2 and he walls it and stones the stones; and plants with the choice, and builds a tower in the midst; and also makes a trough therein: and he awaits it to work grapes and it works stinkweeds. 3 And now, O settlers of Yeru Shalem and men of Yah Hudah, judge, I beseech you, between me and my vineyard. 4 What more work I to my vineyard that I worked not therein? Why, when I awaited it to work grapes, worked it stinkweeds? 5 And now go to; I have you know what I work to my vineyard: I turn aside the hedge and burn it; and breach the wall to trample on: 6 and I place it desolate - neither plucked nor hoed; and briers and thorns ascend: and I misvah the thick clouds to rain no rain thereon. 7 For the vineyard of Yah Veh Sabaoth is the house of Yisra El, and the men of Yah Hudah his plant of delights: and he awaits judgment; and behold, oppression: for justness; and behold, a cry. 8
HO AND JUDGMENT
Ho to them who touch house to house, who approach field to field, until the final place, to settle alone midst the earth! 9 In my ears, Yah Veh Sabaoth, surely many houses become desolate - great and good, without settler. 10 For ten acres of vineyard work one bath, and the seed of an chomer works an ephah. 11 Ho to them who start early in the morning to pursue intoxicants; who linger in the evening breeze until wine inflames them: 12 and the harp and the bagpipe, the tambourine and pipe and wine are in their banquets: yes, they neither scan the deeds of Yah Veh nor see the work of his hands. 13 So my people are exiled, because they have no knowledge: and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude parched with thirst. 14 So sheol enlarges her soul and gapes her mouth without statute; and their glory and their multitude and their uproar: and he who jumps for joy, descends therein: 15 and humanity prostrates and man abases; and the eyes of the lofty abase. 16 And Yah Veh Sabaoth is lifted in judgment and holy El, hallowed in justness. 17 And the lambs graze after their word; and sojourners eat the parched areas of the fatlings. 18 Ho to them who draw perversity with cords of vanity, and sin as a wagon rope: 19 who say, Hasten him: hasten his work for us to see: and that the counsel of the Holy One of Yisra El approach and come, for us to know. 20 Ho to them who say to evil, good; and to good, evil; who set darkness for light; and light for darkness: who set bitter for sweet; and sweet for bitter. 21 Ho to them, the wise in their own eyes, and discerning in their own face! 22 Ho to them, the mighty to drink wine, and men of valour to mix intoxicants: 23 who justify the wicked for a bribe, and turn aside the justness of the just from him! 24 So as the tongue of fire devours the stubble and the flame slacks the hay, thus their root is as putridity and their blossom ascends as dust: because they spurn the torah of Yah Veh Sabaoth, and scorn the saying of the Holy One of Yisra El. 25 So Yah Veh kindles his wrath against his people; and spreads his hand against them and smites them: and the hills quake; and their carcase is as sweepings midst the outways. For all this, his wrath turns not away, and he still spreads his hand: 26 and he lifts an ensign to the goyim from afar, and hisses to them from the end of the earth: and, behold, they come quickly - swiftly: 27 no one languishes nor falters among them; no one slumbers nor sleeps; neither loosens the girdle of their loins, nor tears the latchet of their shoes: 28 whose arrows are pointened and all their bows bent; the hoofs of their horses fabricate as flint and their whirlers as a hurricane: 29 they roar like a roaring lion; they roar like whelps: yes, they growl, and take hold of the prey and slip it away and no one rescues. 30 And in that day, they growl against them as the growling of the sea: and if one looks to the land, behold, darkness and tribulation; and the light darkens in the setting.
