1 {Davidic{ Do contend, O Yahweh, with my contenders; Fight against those fighting me."
2 Hold fast the buckler and the large shield; Do rise up to my help.
3 Unsheathe the spear and the pike To meet those pursuing me. Say to my soul, I am your Salvation!"
4 May they be ashamed, And may they be mortified, who are seeking my soul; May they be turned away, And may they be abashed, who are devising evil against me."
5 May they become like trash before the wind, With a messenger of Yahweh expelling them."
6 Let their way become dark and slick surfaced, With a messenger of Yahweh pursuing them."
7 For gratuitously have they buried their net for me; Gratuitously have they delved a grave for my soul.
8 May ruination come upon him when he is not knowing it, And may his net that he has buried seize him; Let him fall into it to ruination."
9 Yet my soul, it shall exult in Yahweh; It shall be elated in His salvation."
10 All my bones, they shall say, O Yahweh, who is like You? Rescuing the humbled from one too unyielding for him, Both the humbled and the needy from one pillaging him."
11 Malicious witnesses arise; They ask me that which I do not know;
12 They are repaying me evil for good, Seeking bereavement to my soul."
13 As for me, when they were ill my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting, Yet my prayer, it turned back on my bosom."
14 As for an associate, as for my brother, I walked about grieving; Like one mourning for his mother, I bowed down in somberness."
15 Yet when I was limping, they rejoiced and gathered together; They gathered together against me, Smiters, and I did not know it; They tore at me and would not be still."
16 With the pollutions of derisive derisions, They gnashed their teeth against me."
17 O Yahweh, how long shall You look on? Do restore my soul from their ruinations, My only one from the sheltered lions."
18 I shall acclaim You in the vast assembly; Among a staunch people shall I praise You.
19 Let them not rejoice over me, My enemies who are false; Nor let them wink the eye, Who are hating me gratuitously."
20 For they do not speak peace, And they are devising words of deceit against those enjoying respite in the land."
21 They widen their mouth against me; They say, Aha, aha, our eyes have seen it."
22 You have seen this; O Yahweh, do not be silent; O Yahweh, do not be far from me."
23 Do rouse; do awake for my due, My Elohim and my Lord, for my cause."
24 Judge me according to Your righteousness, O Yahweh my Elohim, And let them not rejoice over me."
25 Let them not say in their heart, Aha, our soul is pleased; Let them not say, We swallowed him up."
26 May those be ashamed and abashed together, Who are rejoicing in my evil lot; May those be clothed with shame and mortification, Who are magnifying themselves against me."
27 May those be jubilant and rejoice, Who take delight in my righteousness; May they say continually, Let Yahweh be magnified, Whose delight is in His servant's well-being."
