4 αἱ (-) δὲ (but) φρόνιμοι (the wise) ἔλαβον (took) ἔλαιον (oil) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ἀγγείοις (vessels), μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) λαμπάδων (lamps) ἑαυτῶν (of them).
5 χρονίζοντος (Tarrying) δὲ (then) τοῦ (the) νυμφίου (bridegroom), ἐνύσταξαν (they became drowsy) πᾶσαι (all) καὶ (and) ἐκάθευδον (were sleeping).
6 Μέσης (At middle) δὲ (then) νυκτὸς (of the night), κραυγὴ (a cry) γέγονεν (there was): ‘Ἰδοὺ (Behold), ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom)! ἐξέρχεσθε (Go forth) εἰς (to) ἀπάντησιν (meet) ‹αὐτοῦ› (him)!’
7 Τότε (Then) ἠγέρθησαν (arose) πᾶσαι (all) αἱ (the) παρθένοι (virgins) ἐκεῖναι (those) καὶ (and) ἐκόσμησαν (trimmed) τὰς (the) λαμπάδας (lamps) ἑαυτῶν (of them).
8 αἱ (-) δὲ (And) μωραὶ (the foolish) ταῖς (to the) φρονίμοις (wise) εἶπαν (said), ‘Δότε (Give) ἡμῖν (us) ἐκ (of) τοῦ (the) ἐλαίου (oil) ὑμῶν (of you), ὅτι (for) αἱ (the) λαμπάδες (lamps) ἡμῶν (of us) σβέννυνται (are going out).’
9 Ἀπεκρίθησαν (Answered) δὲ (then) αἱ (the) φρόνιμοι (wise), λέγουσαι (saying), ‘Μή¦Ποτε (Lest) οὐ (no) μὴ (not even) ἀρκέσῃ (it might suffice) ἡμῖν (for us) καὶ (and) ὑμῖν (you). πορεύεσθε (Go) μᾶλλον (rather) πρὸς (to) τοὺς (those) πωλοῦντας (selling), καὶ (and) ἀγοράσατε (buy) ἑαυταῖς (for yourselves).’
10 Ἀπερχομένων (While are going away) δὲ (then) αὐτῶν (they) ἀγοράσαι (to buy), ἦλθεν (came) ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom), καὶ (and) αἱ (those) ἕτοιμοι (ready) εἰσῆλθον (went in) μετ’ (with) αὐτοῦ (him) εἰς (to) τοὺς (the) γάμους (wedding feast); καὶ (and) ἐκλείσθη (was shut) ἡ (the) θύρα (door).
