Anderson⁽ⁱ⁾ ¹⁵ When, therefore, you see that detestable thing that makes desolate, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place, (let him that reads understand;) ¹⁶ then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; ¹⁷ let not him that is on the house-top come down to take his goods out of his house; ¹⁸ and let not him that is in the field turn back to take his clothing. ¹⁹ But alas for those who are with child, and those who give suck in those days! ²⁰ Pray that your flight may not be in the winter, nor on the Sabbath: ²¹ for then shall be great affliction, such as has not been from the beginning of the world till now, nor shall ever be. ²² And unless those days should be made few, no flesh could be saved. But on account of the elect those days shall be made few. ²³ Then if any one shall say to you: Lo! here is the Christ, or there; believe it not. ²⁴ For false Christs and false prophets will arise, and will show great signs and wonders, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ Behold, I have told you beforehand. ²⁶ Therefore, if they say to you: Behold, he is in the desert; go not out: Behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. ²⁷ For as the lightning comes out from the east, and shines even to the west, so also shall the coming of the Son of man be. ²⁸ For wherever the carcass is, there will the vultures come together.
