¹⁵ The eye of the adulterer keeps watch for the gloaming, Saying, No eye can regard me; And he places a concealment over his face.

¹⁴ And away is she taking the garments of her widowhood off her, and is covering herself with a veil and she is bedecking herself. And sitting is she at the opening to the springs, which are on the way to Timnah, for she sees that Shelah is grown, and she is not given to him for a wife. ¹⁵ And seeing her is Judah, and is accounting her to be a prostitute, for she covers her face, and he did not recognize her.

¹⁴ You shall not commit adultery.

⁴ And David sends messengers, and takes her, and she comes unto him, and he lies with her--and she is purifying herself from her uncleanness--and she turns back unto her house;" ⁵ and the woman conceives, and sends, and declares to David, and said, `I [am] conceiving.. <sup>6</sup> And David sends unto Joab, `Send unto me Uriah the Hittite,' and Joab sends Uriah unto David;" ⁷ and Uriah comes unto him, and David asks of the prosperity of Joab, and of the prosperity of the people, and of the prosperity of the war. ⁸ And David said to Uriah, `Go down to your house, and wash your feet;' and Uriah goes out of the king's house, and there goes out after him a gift from the king, <sup>9</sup> and Uriah lies down at the opening of the king's house, with all the servants of his lord, and has not gone down unto his house. <sup>10</sup> And they declare to David, saying, `Uriah has not gone down unto his house;' and David said unto Uriah, `Have you not come from a journey? wherefore have you not gone down unto your house?. <sup>11</sup> And Uriah said unto David, `The ark, and Israel, and Judah, are abiding in booths, and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, on the face of the field are encamping; and I--I go in unto my house to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife! --your life, and the life of your soul--if I do this thing.. ¹² And David said unto Uriah, `Abide in this [place] also to-day, and to-morrow I send you away;' and Uriah abides in Jerusalem, on that day, and on the morrow, ¹³ and David calls for him, and he eats before him, and drinks, and he causes him to drink, and he goes out in the evening to lie on his couch with the servants of his lord, and unto his house he has not gone down.

¹² for you have done [it] in secret, and I do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun..

¹³ Yet you say, What does El know? Can He judge through murkiness? ¹⁴ Thick clouds are a concealment for Him, so that He cannot see, And He walks about the circle of the heavens.

¹¹ He says in his heart, El has forgotten; He has concealed His face; He will not see at all, permanently.

¹⁸ If you see a thief, you approve of him, And your portion is with those committing adultery."

¹¹ And they say, How can El know? And is there knowledge in the Supreme?

⁷ They say, Yah is not seeing, And the Elohim of Jacob is not understanding."

³² But he who commits adultery with another's wife has lack of heart wisdom; He is causing ruin to his soul who does it. ³³ Contagion and dishonor shall he find, And his reproach cannot be wiped out;" ³⁴ For jealousy incites the fury of a master, And he shall not spare in the day of vengeance;" ³⁵ He shall not respect any sheltering gift And shall not be willing to relent though you increase the bribe.

⁹ In the gloaming at the evening of the day, In the tranquil night and the gloom;" ¹⁰ And behold, a woman came out to meet him In the burnoose of a prostitute and constricted of heart."

¹² And He said unto me, `Have you seen, son of man, that which elders of the house of Israel are doing in darkness, each in the inner chambers of his imagery, for they are saying, Yahweh is not seeing us, Yahweh has forsaken the land?'"

⁹ And He said unto me, `The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah [is] very very great, and the land is full of blood, and the city has been full of perverseness, for they have said:Yahweh has forsaken the land, and Yahweh is not seeing."
