¹⁶ In the darkness he burrows into houses; By day they seal themselves up; They do not know the light.

² (If the thief is found while burrowing and is smitten so that he dies, there is no blood-guilt because of him. ³ But if the sun has risen on him there is blood-guilt because of him.) He shall repay, yea repay; if he has nothing then he will be sold for his theft.

¹³ They are among those revolting against the light; They neither recognize its ways Nor dwell in its tracks.

¹² In all your days have you ever instructed the morning? Have you made known to the dawn its place, ¹³ That it might take hold of the wings of the earth, And the wicked be shaken out of it?

⁵ Before their eyes dig for you through the wall, and you have brought forth by it." ⁶ Before their eyes on the shoulder you do bear, in the darkness you do bring forth, your face you do cover, and you do not see the earth, for a type I have given you to the house of Israel.'" ⁷ And I do so, as I have been commanded; my vessels I have brought forth as vessels of removal by day, and at even I have dug for me through the wall with the hand; in the darkness I have brought forth, on the shoulder I have borne away, before their eyes."

¹² As to the prince who [is] in their midst, on the shoulder he bears in the darkness, and he goes forth, through the wall they dig to bring forth by it, his face he covers, that he may not look on the very surface of the land."

¹⁹ Do not hoard for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and corrosion are causing them to disappear, and where thieves are tunneling and stealing."

⁴³ Now that be knowing, for if the householder were aware in what watch the thief is coming, he would watch, and would not let his house be tunneled into."

²⁰ For everyone who is committing bad things is hating the light and is not coming to the light, lest his acts may be exposed."

¹¹ And be not joint participants in the unfruitful acts of darkness, yet rather be exposing them also, ¹² for it is a shame even to speak of the hidden things occurring, done by them." ¹³ Now all that which is being exposed, by the light is made manifest, for everything which is making manifest is light."
