1 αὕτη ἡ βίβλος τῶν προσταγμάτων τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ὁ νόμος ὁ ὑπάρχων εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα πάντες οἱ κρατοῦντες αὐτῆς εἰς ζωήν οἱ δὲ καταλείποντες αὐτὴν ἀποθανοῦνται 2 ἐπιστρέφου ιακωβ καὶ ἐπιλαβοῦ αὐτῆς διόδευσον πρὸς τὴν λάμψιν κατέναντι τοῦ φωτὸς αὐτῆς 3 μὴ δῷς ἑτέρῳ τὴν δόξαν σου καὶ τὰ συμφέροντά σοι ἔθνει ἀλλοτρίῳ 4 μακάριοί ἐσμεν ισραηλ ὅτι τὰ ἀρεστὰ τῷ θεῷ ἡμῖν γνωστά ἐστιν 5 θαρσεῖτε λαός μου μνημόσυνον ισραηλ 6 ἐπράθητε τοῖς ἔθνεσιν οὐκ εἰς ἀπώλειαν διὰ δὲ τὸ παροργίσαι ὑμᾶς τὸν θεὸν παρεδόθητε τοῖς ὑπεναντίοις 7 παρωξύνατε γὰρ τὸν ποιήσαντα ὑμᾶς θύσαντες δαιμονίοις καὶ οὐ θεῷ 8 ἐπελάθεσθε δὲ τὸν τροφεύσαντα ὑμᾶς θεὸν αἰώνιον ἐλυπήσατε δὲ καὶ τὴν ἐκθρέψασαν ὑμᾶς ιερουσαλημ 9 εἶδεν γὰρ τὴν ἐπελθοῦσαν ὑμῖν ὀργὴν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ εἶπεν ἀκούσατε αἱ πάροικοι σιων ἐπήγαγέν μοι ὁ θεὸς πένθος μέγα 10 εἶδον γὰρ τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν τῶν υἱῶν μου καὶ τῶν θυγατέρων ἣν ἐπήγαγεν αὐτοῖς ὁ αἰώνιος 11 ἔθρεψα γὰρ αὐτοὺς μετ' εὐφροσύνης ἐξαπέστειλα δὲ μετὰ κλαυθμοῦ καὶ πένθους 12 μηδεὶς ἐπιχαιρέτω μοι τῇ χήρᾳ καὶ καταλειφθείσῃ ὑπὸ πολλῶν ἠρημώθην διὰ τὰς ἁμαρτίας τῶν τέκνων μου διότι ἐξέκλιναν ἐκ νόμου θεοῦ 13 δικαιώματα δὲ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἔγνωσαν οὐδὲ ἐπορεύθησαν ὁδοῖς ἐντολῶν θεοῦ οὐδὲ τρίβους παιδείας ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ αὐτοῦ ἐπέβησαν 14 ἐλθάτωσαν αἱ πάροικοι σιων καὶ μνήσθητε τὴν αἰχμαλωσίαν τῶν υἱῶν μου καὶ θυγατέρων ἣν ἐπήγαγεν αὐτοῖς ὁ αἰώνιος 15 ἐπήγαγεν γὰρ ἐπ' αὐτοὺς ἔθνος μακρόθεν ἔθνος ἀναιδὲς καὶ ἀλλόγλωσσον οἳ οὐκ ᾐσχύνθησαν πρεσβύτην οὐδὲ παιδίον ἠλέησαν 16 καὶ ἀπήγαγον τοὺς ἀγαπητοὺς τῆς χήρας καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν θυγατέρων τὴν μόνην ἠρήμωσαν 17 ἐγὼ δὲ τί δυνατὴ βοηθῆσαι ὑμῖν 18 ὁ γὰρ ἐπαγαγὼν τὰ κακὰ ὑμῖν ἐξελεῖται ὑμᾶς ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρῶν ὑμῶν 19 βαδίζετε τέκνα βαδίζετε ἐγὼ γὰρ κατελείφθην ἔρημος 20 ἐξεδυσάμην τὴν στολὴν τῆς εἰρήνης ἐνεδυσάμην δὲ σάκκον τῆς δεήσεώς μου κεκράξομαι πρὸς τὸν αἰώνιον ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις μου 21 θαρσεῖτε τέκνα βοήσατε πρὸς τὸν θεόν καὶ ἐξελεῖται ὑμᾶς ἐκ δυναστείας ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρῶν 22 ἐγὼ γὰρ ἤλπισα ἐπὶ τῷ αἰωνίῳ τὴν σωτηρίαν ὑμῶν καὶ ἦλθέν μοι χαρὰ παρὰ τοῦ ἁγίου ἐπὶ τῇ ἐλεημοσύνῃ ἣ ἥξει ὑμῖν ἐν τάχει παρὰ τοῦ αἰωνίου σωτῆρος ὑμῶν 23 ἐξέπεμψα γὰρ ὑμᾶς μετὰ πένθους καὶ κλαυθμοῦ ἀποδώσει δέ μοι ὁ θεὸς ὑμᾶς μετὰ χαρμοσύνης καὶ εὐφροσύνης εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα 24 ὥσπερ γὰρ νῦν ἑωράκασιν αἱ πάροικοι σιων τὴν ὑμετέραν αἰχμαλωσίαν οὕτως ὄψονται ἐν τάχει τὴν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ὑμῶν σωτηρίαν ἣ ἐπελεύσεται ὑμῖν μετὰ δόξης μεγάλης καὶ λαμπρότητος τοῦ αἰωνίου 25 τέκνα μακροθυμήσατε τὴν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἐπελθοῦσαν ὑμῖν ὀργήν κατεδίωξέν σε ὁ ἐχθρός σου καὶ ὄψει αὐτοῦ τὴν ἀπώλειαν ἐν τάχει καὶ ἐπὶ τραχήλους αὐτῶν ἐπιβήσῃ 26 οἱ τρυφεροί μου ἐπορεύθησαν ὁδοὺς τραχείας ἤρθησαν ὡς ποίμνιον ἡρπασμένον ὑπὸ ἐχθρῶν 27 θαρσήσατε τέκνα καὶ βοήσατε πρὸς τὸν θεόν ἔσται γὰρ ὑμῶν ὑπὸ τοῦ ἐπάγοντος μνεία 28 ὥσπερ γὰρ ἐγένετο ἡ διάνοια ὑμῶν εἰς τὸ πλανηθῆναι ἀπὸ τοῦ θεοῦ δεκαπλασιάσατε ἐπιστραφέντες ζητῆσαι αὐτόν 29 ὁ γὰρ ἐπαγαγὼν ὑμῖν τὰ κακὰ ἐπάξει ὑμῖν τὴν αἰώνιον εὐφροσύνην μετὰ τῆς σωτηρίας ὑμῶν 30 θάρσει ιερουσαλημ παρακαλέσει σε ὁ ὀνομάσας σε 31 δείλαιοι οἱ σὲ κακώσαντες καὶ ἐπιχαρέντες τῇ σῇ πτώσει 32 δείλαιαι αἱ πόλεις αἷς ἐδούλευσαν τὰ τέκνα σου δειλαία ἡ δεξαμένη τοὺς υἱούς σου 33 ὥσπερ γὰρ ἐχάρη ἐπὶ τῇ σῇ πτώσει καὶ εὐφράνθη ἐπὶ τῷ πτώματί σου οὕτως λυπηθήσεται ἐπὶ τῇ ἑαυτῆς ἐρημίᾳ 34 καὶ περιελῶ αὐτῆς τὸ ἀγαλλίαμα τῆς πολυοχλίας καὶ τὸ ἀγαυρίαμα αὐτῆς ἔσται εἰς πένθος 35 πῦρ γὰρ ἐπελεύσεται αὐτῇ παρὰ τοῦ αἰωνίου εἰς ἡμέρας μακράς καὶ κατοικηθήσεται ὑπὸ δαιμονίων τὸν πλείονα χρόνον 36 περίβλεψαι πρὸς ἀνατολάς ιερουσαλημ καὶ ἰδὲ τὴν εὐφροσύνην τὴν παρὰ τοῦ θεοῦ σοι ἐρχομένην 37 ἰδοὺ ἔρχονται οἱ υἱοί σου οὓς ἐξαπέστειλας ἔρχονται συνηγμένοι ἀπ' ἀνατολῶν ἕως δυσμῶν τῷ ῥήματι τοῦ ἁγίου χαίροντες τῇ τοῦ θεοῦ δόξῃ

1 This is the booke of the commaundements of God, and the Lawe that endureth for euer: all they that keepe it, shal come to life: but such as forsake it, shall die.
2 Turne thee, O Iacob, & take hold of it: walke by this brightnesse before the light thereof.
3 Giue not thine honour to another, nor the things that are profitable vnto thee, to a strange nation.
4 O Israel, we are blessed: for the things that are acceptable vnto God, are declared vnto vs.
5 Be of good comfort, O my people, which art the memoriall of Israel.
6 Ye are solde to the nations, not for your destruction: but because ye prouoked God to wrath, ye were deliuered vnto the enemies.
7 For ye haue displeased him that made you, offering vnto deuils and not to God.

14 Come, ye that dwell about Sion, and call to remembrance the captiuitie of my sonnes & daughters, which the euerlasting hath brought vpon them.
15 For he hath brought vpon them a nation from farre, an impudent nation, and of a strange language,
16 Which neither reuerence the aged, nor pitie the yong: these haue caried away the deare beloued of the widowes, leauing me alone, and destitute of my daughters.
17 But what can I helpe you?
18 Surely he that hath brought these plagues vpon you, can deliuer you from the handes of your enemies.
19 Goe your way, O children, goe your way: for I am left desolate.
20 I haue put off the clothing of peace, and put vpon me the sackcloth of prayer, and so long as I liue, I will call vpon the Euerlasting.
21 Be of good comfort, O children: crye vnto God, and he will deliuer you from the power, and hand of the enemies.
22 For I haue hope of your saluation through the Euerlasting, and ioy is come vpon me from the Holy one, because of the mercie, which shall quickly come vnto you from our euerlasting Sauiour.
23 For I sent you away with weeping, & mourning: but with ioy and perpetuall gladnes will God bring you againe vnto me.
24 Like as now the neighbours of Sion saw your captiuitie, so shall they also see shortly your saluation from God, which shall come vnto you with great glory, and brightnes from the Euerlasting.
25 My children, suffer patiently the wrath that is come vpon you from God: for thine enemie hath persecuted thee, but shortly thou shalt see his destruction, and shalt treade vpon his necke.
26 My darlings haue gone by rough wayes, and were led away as a flock that is scattered by ye enemies.
27 Be of good comfort, my children, and crye vnto God: for he that led you away, hath you in remembrance.
28 And as it came into your minde to goe astray from your God, so endeuour your selues ten times more, to turne againe and to seeke him.
29 For he that hath brought these plagues vpon you, will bring you euerlasting ioy againe, with your saluation.
30 Take a good heart, O Ierusalem: for he which gaue thee that name, will comfort thee.
31 They are miserable that afflict thee, and such as reioyce at thy fall.
32 The cities are miserable whom thy children serue: miserable is she that hath taken thy sonnes.
33 For as she reioyced at thy decay, & was glad of thy fal, so shal she be sory for her owne desolatio.
34 For I will take away ye reioycing of her great multitude, & her ioy shall be turned into mourning.
35 For a fire shall come vpon her from the Euerlasting, long to endure, and she shall be inhabited of deuils for a great season.
36 O Ierusalem, looke toward the East, and behold the ioy that cometh vnto thee from thy God.
37 Lo, thy sonnes (whom thou hast let go) come gathered together from the East vnto the West, reioycing in the worde of the Holy one vnto the honour of God.

8 Ye haue forgotten hym that brought you vp, and ye haue greeued Hierusalem that nursed you.

13 They woulde not know his righteousnesse, nor walke in the way of his commaundementes: and as for the pathes of trueth and godlinesse, they had no lust to go in them.
14 O ye dwellers about Sion, come and let vs call to remembraunce the captiuitie that the euerlasting God hath brought vpon my sonnes & my daughters.
15 He hath brought a people vpon them from farre, an vncurteous people, and of a straunge language: whiche neither regarde the olde, nor pitie the young.
16 These haue caried away the deare beloued of my widdowes, leauing me alone both desolate and childlesse.
17 But alas, what can I helpe you?
18 Nowe he that brought these plagues vpon you, deliuer you also from the handes of your enemies.
19 Go your way O my children, go your way: for I am desolate and forsaken.
20 I haue put of the clothing of peace, & put vpon me the sacke cloth of prayer, and for my time I will call vpon the most hyghest.
21 Be of good cheare O my children, crye vnto the Lorde, and he shall deliuer you from the power of the princes your enemies.
22 For veryly I haue euer a good hope of your prosperous health, yea a very gladnesse is come vpon me from the holy one, because of the mercie that ye shal haue of our euerlasting sauiour.
23 With mourning and weeping dyd I let you go fro me: but with ioy and perpetuall gladnesse shall the Lorde bring you againe vnto me.
24 Like as the neyghbours of Sion saw your captiuitie from God: euen so shall they also see shortly your health in God, which shall come on you with great honour and euerlasting worship.
25 O my children, suffer patiently the wrath that shal come vpon you: for the enemie hath persecuted thee, but shortly thou shalt see his destruction, and shalt treade vpon his necke.
26 My dearlinges haue gone rough hard wayes, for they are led away as a flocke that is scattered abrode with the enemies.
27 But be of good comfort O my children, and crye vnto the Lorde: for he that led you away, hath you yet in remembraunce.
28 And like as ye haue ben mynded to swarue from your God: so shall ye now endeuour your selues ten times more to turne againe, and to seke him.
29 For he that hath brought these plagues vpon you, shall bring you euerlasting ioy againe with your health.
30 Take a good heart vnto thee O Hierusalem: for he whiche gaue thee that name, exhorteth thee so to do.
31 The wicked doers that now put thee to trouble, shall perishe: & such as haue reioyced at thy fall, shalbe punished.
32 The cities whom thy children serue, and that haue caryed away thy sonnes, shalbe corrected.
