Numbers 9

VIN(i) 1 the LORD spoke to Moses in the Desert of Sinai in the first month of the second year after the Israelites left Egypt. He said: 2 "Let the Israelites observe the Passover at its appointed time. 3 On the fourteenth day of this month, at twilight at its appointed time, you shall observe it. Keep it according to all its decrees and laws. 4 So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate the Passover. 5 They celebrated it on the fourteenth day of the first month at dusk while they were in the Desert of Sinai. The Israelites did everything as the LORD commanded Moses. 6 But there were men who couldn't observe the Passover that day on account of a corpse. They approached Moses and Aaron that day. 7 And those men said to him, "Although we are unclean by a dead person, why are we hindered from presenting the offering of the LORD at its appointed time in the midst of the Israelites?" 8 Moses answered them, "Wait, that I may hear what the LORD will command concerning you." 9 And the Lord said to Moses, 10 »‘Should you or any of your descendants be unclean from touching a dead body or away on a long trip. You may still celebrate the Passover. 11 "‘You will celebrate it on the fourteenth day of the second month at dusk. Eat the Passover animal along with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. 12 They should not leave any of it by morning or break any of its bone. They must observe it according to all the statutes of the Passover. 13 But the man who is clean and not on a journey, and he fails to observe the Passover, that person will be cut off from the people because he did not present the offering of Yahweh on its appointed time. That man will bear his guilt. 14 "'Foreigners living with you may want to celebrate the LORD's Passover. They must follow these same rules and regulations. The same rules will apply to foreigners and native-born Israelites.'" 15 On the day the tabernacle was set up, a cloud covered the tabernacle the tent for the testimony so that from evening until morning, there was like the appearance of fire over the tabernacle. 16 So it was continually: the cloud covered it, and at night it was as the appearance of fire. 17 Whenever the cloud lifted up from on the tent, after that the Israelites would set out, and in the place where the cloud dwelled, there the Israelites camped. 18 At the commandment of LORD the sons of Israel journeyed, and at the commandment of LORD they encamped. As long as the cloud abode upon the tabernacle they remained encamped. 19 When the smoke stayed over the tent for a long time, the Israelites obeyed the LORD's command and did not break camp. 20 Sometimes the cloud was over the tabernacle for a number of days. At the bidding of Yahweh they encamped, and at the bidding of Yahweh they journeyed. 21 Sometimes the cloud was from evening until morning; and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they traveled; or by day and by night, when the cloud was taken up, they traveled. 22 Whether two days, a month, or days longer that the cloud remains above the tabernacle, the Israelites would camp and not travel. But when it is lifted up, then they would travel. 23 At the LORD's command they set up camp, and at his command they broke camp. They obeyed the command the LORD gave through Moses.
