2 Samuel 16:21-17:4 Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Go in to your father's concubines, that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong."

VIN⁽ⁱ⁾ ²¹ Ahithophel said to Absalom, "Go in to your father's concubines, that he has left to keep the house. Then all Israel will hear that you are abhorred by your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong." ²² And they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel. ²³ Any advice that Ahithophel gave in those days was accepted as though it were the very word of God. David and Absalom followed it. ¹⁷ ¹ Later Ahithophel said to Absalom: »Let me choose twelve thousand men. Tonight I will set out after David. ² and I will come upon him when he is weary and weak-handed, and I will strike him with terror; and all the people with him shall flee, and I will smite the king only of all. ³ and I will bring back all the people to you. The man whom you seek is as if all returned, so all the people will be in peace. ⁴ The saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.
