4 They then being sent forth by the holy spirit, went down to Seleucia, and thence sailed to Cyprus.
5 And arriving at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. And they had John for their attendant.
6 And having traversed the island till they came to Paphos, they found there a magian, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Barjesus.
7 He was with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, a man of understanding, who had sent for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.
8 But Elymas the Magian, [for thus his name is translated] set himself against them, endeavouring to divert the proconsul from the belief.
9 Upon which Saul, who is also called Paul, being filled with a holy spirit, and having his eyes fixed upon him,
10 said, O! full of all deceit and of all wickedness, son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness; wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord!
11 Now therefore behold the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shall be blind and shall not see the sun for a season. And instantly there fell upon him a mist and darkness. And groping about he sought some to lead him by the hand.
12 Then the proconsul, upon seeing what was done, believed, being struck with awe at the doctrine concerning the Lord.
