Acts 13:22-36

Thomson(i) 22 Then having removed him, he raised up for them David to be king, to whom he gave this testimony, "I have found David the son of Jesse, a man according to my heart, who will execute all my orders." 23 Of his seed God hath, according to promise, raised up for Israel a saviour, namely Jesus, 24 before whose appearance John proclaimed a baptism of reformation to all the people of Israel. 25 And as John was fulfilling his course, he said, I am not he whom you suppose me to be; but behold he is coming after me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to untie. 26 Men, brethren, children of the race of Abraham, and those among you, who fear God, to you the word of this salvation is sent. 27 For the inhabitants of Jerusalem and their chiefs, not knowing him, have indeed by condemning him fulfilled the words of the prophets which are read every sabbath day. 28 Though they found no cause of death, they demanded of Pilate that he should be executed. 29 And when they had accomplished all that was written concerning him, he was taken down from the cross and laid in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 and for many days he appeared to them who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are his witnesses to the people. 32 And we proclaim to you the glad tidings with respect to the promise made to the fathers, 33 That God hath fulfilled it to us their children by raising up Jesus, even as it is written in the second psalm, "Thou art my son, this day I have begotten thee" 34 and that he hath raised him from the dead never more to return to corruption, as he said, "I will give you the gracious promises to David which are faithful: 35 and therefore, in another place, he saith, "Thou wilt not suffer thy holy one to see corruption!" 36 For David indeed, having in his generation answered the purpose of God, went to rest and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption;
