Mace⁽ⁱ⁾ ³ whereupon the tempter came to him, and said, "If thou be the Son of God, command these stones to become bread." ⁴ but Jesus answered him, It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every thing that God shall prescribe." ⁵ then the devil took Jesus with him to Jerusalem, and having set him on the wing of the temple, he said to him, ⁶ if you are the Son of God, throw your self down: for it is written, "he will charge his angels to take care of you, and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest you bruise your foot against a stone."
