Godbey⁽ⁱ⁾ ²¹ For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world even until now nor ever may be. ²² And if those days were not shortened, no life would be saved: but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. ²³ Then if any one may say to you, Lo, here is Christ, or, there: believe him not: ²⁴ for false Christs and false prophets will rise up, and give great signs and wonders; so as to deceive even the elect, if possible. ²⁵ Behold, I have foretold you. ²⁶ Therefore if they may say to you, Behold, He is in the desert; go not out: Behold, He is in the secret chambers; believe them not. ²⁷ For as the lightning comes from the east, and shines even unto the west; so also shall the coming of the Son of man be. ²⁸ For where the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. ²⁹ And immediately, after the desolation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from the heavens, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
