THE CONTROVERSY OF YAH VEH WITH YISRA EL
Hear, I beseech, what Yah Veh says; Rise! Contend in front of the mountains so that the hills hear your voice. 2 Hear the controversy of Yah Veh, O mountains, and you perennial foundations of the earth: for Yah Veh has a controversy with his people and he reproves Yisra El. 3 O my people, what work I to you? And wherein weary I you? Answer against me. 4 For I ascended you from the land of Misrayim and redeemed you from the house of servants; and ere your face I sent Mosheh, Aharon, and Miryam. 5 O my people, remember, I beseech, what Balaq sovereign of Moab counselled and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal; so that you know the justness of Yah Veh. 6 With what confront I Yah Veh? And bow myself in front of the high Elohim? Confront I him with holocausts? With yearling sons? 7 Please Yah Veh with thousands of rams? With myriads of wadies of oil? Give I my firstbirthed for my rebellion - the fruit of my belly for the sin of my soul? 8 He tells you, O humanity, what is good. And what requires Yah Veh of you - except to work judgment and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your Elohim? 9 The voice of Yah Veh calls to the city, and the counsellor sees your name: Hear the rod; and he who congregates it. 10 Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked? And the emaciated ephah that enrages? 11 Purify I them with balances of wickedness? And with the pouch of stones of deceit? 12 - whose the rich are filled of violence and the settlers speak falsehoods; and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth? 13 And I also, in smiting you, I stroke you - desolate you because of your sins. 14 You eat, and satiate not; and hunger is among you; and you remove, but escape not; and whatever escapes, I give to the sword. 15 You - you seed, and you harvest not; you - you tread the olive, and you anoint not with oil; and juice, and you drink not the wine. 16 And you guard the statutes of Omri and all the works of the house of Ach Ab; and you walk in their counsels: and I give you for a desolation, and the settlers for a hissing: and you bear the reproach of my people.
