Amos 8

THE BASKET OF SUMMER FRUIT
Thus Adonay Yah Veh shows me, and behold, a basket of summer fruit: 2 and he says, Amos, what see you? And I say, A basket of summer fruit. And Yah Veh says to me, The end comes on my people of Yisra El; I add not to pass by them any more. 3 And the songstresses of the manse howl in that day - an oracle of Adonay Yah Veh: with many carcases in every place; they cast them forth: Hush! 4 Hear this, O you who gulp the needy, who shabbathize the humble of the land, 5 saying, When passes the new moon, to market kernels? - the shabbath, to open grain? - to lessen the ephah and greaten the shekel? - to twist the balances by deceit? 6 - to chattel the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of shoes? - to market kernels, the chaff of the grain? 7 Yah Veh oaths by the pomp of Yaaqov, Surely I forget none of their works in perpetuity. 8 Quakes not the land for this? And every one who settles therein mourns? And it all ascends as a light and expels and drowns as by the river of Misrayim. 9 And so be it, in that day, - an oracle of Adonay Yah Veh that I decend the sun at noon and I darken the earth in the light of day: 10 and I turn your celebrations into mourning and all your songs into lamentation; and I ascend saq on all loins and baldness on every head; and I set it as the mourning of an only one and the end as a bitter day. 11 Behold, days come, - an oracle of Adonay Yah Veh and I send a famine in the land - neither a famine of bread nor a thirst for water; but of hearing the words of Yah Veh: 12 and they wander from sea to sea and from the north even to the rising; and they flit to seek the word of Yah Veh and find not. 13 In that day the beautiful virgins and youths languish for thirst; 14 they who oath by the guilt of Shomeron, and say, Your elohim, O Dan, lives! and, The way of Beer Sheba lives! - even they fall and never rise again.
