YECHIZQI YAH REIGNS IN YERU SHALEM
And so be it, in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah sovereign of Yisra El, Yechizqi Yah the son of Achaz sovereign of Yah Hudah reigns: 2 a son of twenty-five years when he begins to reign; and he reigns twenty-nine years in Yeru Shalem: the name of his mother, Abi the daughter of Zechar Yah: 3 and he works straight in the eyes of Yah Veh, according to all David his father worked: 4 he turns aside the bamahs and breaks the monoliths and cuts down the asherim and crushes the copper serpent Mosheh worked: for in those days the sons of Yisra El incensed to it: and he called it Coppery/Nechustan. 5 He confides in Yah Veh Elohim of Yisra El; and there is none like him among all the sovereigns of Yah Hudah - neither after him nor at his face: 6 and he adheres to Yah Veh and turns not aside from after him; but guards the misvoth Yah Veh misvahed Mosheh: 7 and Yah Veh is with him; he comprehends wherever he goes: and he rebels against the sovereign of Ashshur and serves him not: 8 he smites the Peleshethiy to Azzah - to the borders; from the tower of the guards to the fortified city. 9 And so be it, in the fourth year of sovereign Yechizqi Yah - the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah sovereign of Yisra El, Shalmaneser sovereign of Ashshur ascends against Shomeron and besieges it: 10 and at the end of three years they capture it: in the sixth year of Yechizqi Yah - in the ninth year of Hoshea sovereign of Yisra El Shomeron is captured: 11 and the sovereign of Ashshur exiles Yisra El to Ashshur; and guides them in Halach and in Habor by the river Gozan; and in the cities of the Madaim: 12 because they hearken not to the voice of Yah Veh their Elohim; but trespass his covenant; and all that Mosheh the servant of Yah Veh misvahed they neither hearken nor work them. 13 And in the fourteenth year of sovereign Yechizqi Yah, Sancherib sovereign of Ashshur ascends against all the cut off cities of Yah Hudah and apprehends them. 14 And Yechizqi Yah sovereign of Yah Hudah sends to the sovereign of Ashshur to Lachish saying, I sinned; turn away from me: whatever you give on me, I bear. And the sovereign of Ashshur sets to Yechizqi Yah sovereign of Yah Hudah three hundred rounds of silver and thirty rounds of gold: 15 and Yechizqi Yah gives him all the silver found in the house of Yah Veh and in the treasures of the house of the sovereign. 16 At that time, Yechizqi Yah chops off the doors of the manse of Yah Veh and the pillars Yechizqi Yah sovereign of Yah Hudah overlaid; and gives them to the sovereign of Ashshur: 17 and the sovereign of Ashshur sends Tartan the chief eunuch and Rab Shaqeh/the chief butler from Lachish to sovereign Yechizqi Yah with heavy valiant against Yeru Shalem: and they ascend and come to Yeru Shalem: and they ascend and come and stand by the Pool Elyon in the highway of the field of the fuller: 18 and they call to the sovereign; and El Yaqim the son of Hilqi Yah who is over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Yah Ach the son of Asaph the remembrancer go out to them. 19 And Rab Shaqeh/the chief butler says to them, Now say to Yechizqi Yah, Thus says the great sovereign the sovereign of Ashshur, What is this confidence wherein you confide? 20 For you said, They are but words of lips! I have counsel and might for the war! Now on whom confide you, to rebel against me? 21 Now, behold, confide you on the staff of this crushed stalk - on Misrayim - on which, if a man prop, it goes into his palm and pierces? Thus is Paroh sovereign of Misrayim to all who confide on him. 22 And if you say to me, We confide in Yah Veh our Elohim! - Is that not he, whose bamahs and whose sacrifice altars Yechizqi Yah turned aside? - Who said to Yah Hudah and Yeru Shalem, Prostrate at the face of this sacrifice altar in Yeru Shalem? 23 And now, I beseech you, pledge to my adoni the sovereign of Ashshur and I give you two thousand horses if you can, for your part, give riders on them. 24 How then turn you away the face of one governor of the least of the servants of my adoni to confide on Misrayim for chariots and for cavalry? 25 Now, ascend I without Yah Veh, against this place to ruin it? Yah Veh says to me, Ascend against this land and ruin it. 26 And El Yaqim the son of Hilqi Yah and Shebna and Yah Ach say to Rab Shaqeh/the chief butler, Word, I beseech you, to your servants in Aramaic; for we hear it: and word not with us in Yah Hudaic in the ears of the people on the wall. 27 And Rab Shaqeh/the chief butler says to them, My adoni, sends he me to word these words to your master and to you? - and not to the men who settle on the wall - to eat their own dungs and drink the urine at their feet with you? 28 Then Rab Shaqeh/the chief butler stands and calls with a great voice in Yah Hudaic, and words saying, Hear the word of the great sovereign - the sovereign of Ashshur; 29 thus says the sovereign, Neither let Yechizqi Yah deceive you for he is not able to rescue you from his hand: 30 nor let Yechizqi Yah have you confide in Yah Veh saying, In rescuing, Yah Veh rescues us; that this city not be given into the hand of the sovereign of Ashshur: 31 Hearken not to Yechizqi Yah: for thus says the sovereign of Ashshur, Work a blessing with me and come out to me; and eat - every man of you of his own vine and every man of his fig tree and drink - every man of you of the waters of his well: 32 until I come and take you away to a land like your own land - a land of crop and juice a land of bread and vineyards a land of oil olive and of honey - to live and not die: and hearken not to Yechizqi Yah, who goads you, saying, Yah Veh rescues us. 33 In rescuing, have any of the elohim of the goyim rescued a man his land from the hand of the sovereign of Ashshur? 34 Where are the elohim of Hamath and of Arpad? Where are the elohim of Sepharvayim, Hena and Avva? Rescued they Shomeron from my hand? 35 Who are they among all the elohim of the lands who rescued their land from my hand, that Yah Veh rescue Yeru Shalem from my hand? 36 And the people hush and answer him not a word: for the misvah of the sovereign is, saying, Answer him not. 37 Then El Yaqim the son of Hilqi Yah who is over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Yah Ach the son of Asaph the remembrancer, come to Yechizqi Yah with their clothes ripped and tell him the words of Rab Shaqeh/the chief butler.
