Luke 23:13-21

Common(i) 13 Pilate then called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people, 14 and said to them, "You have brought this man to me as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. And behold, having examined him in your presence, I have found no guilt in this man concerning those charges which you make against him; 15 neither did Herod, for he sent him back to us. Behold, nothing deserving death has been done by him; 16 I will therefore chastise him and release him." 17 But they all cried out together, "Away with this man, and release to us Barabbas" 18 a man who had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder. 19 Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate addressed to them again. 20 But they shouted, "Crucify him, crucify him!" 21 Then he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has he done? I have found in him no crime deserving death. I will therefore chastise him and release him."
