And after two days it would be the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how, having taken Him by stealth, they might kill Him.
For they were saying, “Not during the feast, lest there will be an uproar of the people.”
And of Him being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, of Him having reclined, a woman came having an alabaster flask of fragrant oil of pure nard, of great price. Having broken the alabaster flask, she poured it on His head.
And some were indignant within themselves: “Why has this the waste of the fragrant oil been made?
For this fragrant oil could have been sold for above three hundred denarii, and have been given to the poor.” And they were grumbling at her.
And Jesus said, “Leave her alone; why do you cause trouble to her? She did a good work toward Me.
For the poor you always have with you, and you are able to do them good whenever you desire; but not always do you have Me.
She did what she could. She came beforehand to anoint My body for the burial.
And truly I say to you, wherever the gospel shall be proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman has done also will be spoken of, for a memorial of her.”
And Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might betray Him to them.
And having heard, they rejoiced and promised to give him money. And he was seeking how he might deliver Him up conveniently.
And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they were to sacrifice the Passover lamb, His disciples say to Him, “Where do You desire that, having gone, we should prepare that You may eat the Passover?”
And He sends forth two of His disciples and says to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him.
And wherever he might enter, say to the master of the house that the Teacher says, ‘Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’
And he will show you a large upper room, having been furnished and ready. And prepare for us there.”
