John 11:2-16

ABU(i) 2 It was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3 The sisters therefore sent to him, saying: Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. 4 And Jesus hearing it, said: This sickness is not for death, but for the sake of the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified thereby. 5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. 6 When therefore he heard that he was sick, he then abode two days in the place where he was. 7 Then after this he says to the disciples: Let us go into Judaea again. 8 The disciples say to him: Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again? 9 Jesus answered: Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any one walk in the day, he stumbles not, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if any one walk in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him. 11 These things said he; and after this he says to them: Lazarus our friend has fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep. 12 Therefore his disciples said: Lord if he has fallen asleep, he will be restored. 13 But Jesus had spoken of his death; but they thought that he said it of taking rest in sleep. 14 Then therefore Jesus said to them plainly: Lazarus is dead. 15 And I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, that ye may believe. But let us go to him. 16 Therefore said Thomas, who is called Didymus, to his fellow disciples: Let us also go, that we may die with him.
