³ And Pilate asked Him, saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? And He answered him and said, I am as thou sayest.

¹¹ And Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked Him, saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? And Jesus answered him, It is as thou sayest.

² And Pilate asked Him, Art thou the king of the Jews? and He answered It is as thou sayst.

¹⁸ and saluted Him, saying, Hail king of the Jews;

³² the king of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe in Him. And even they that were crucified with Him, reviled Him.

³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God shall give Him the throne of David his father, ³³ and He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

³⁸ saying, Blessed be the king that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest! ³⁹ And some of the pharisees from among the multitude said to Him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. ⁴⁰ And He answered them, I tell you, that if these were silent, the very stones would cry out.

⁷⁰ And they all said, Art thou then the Son of God?

³⁸ And there was a superscription written over Him in Greek, and Latin and Hebrew letters, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

⁴⁹ Nathaniel replied, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the king of Israel.

³³ Pilate therefore went into the palace again, and called Jesus and said to Him, Art thou the king of the Jews? ³⁴ Jesus answered him, Dost thou say this from thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? ³⁵ Pilate replied, Am I a Jew? thine own nation, and the chief priests, have delivered thee to me: what hast thou done? ³⁶ Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have fought, that I might not have been delivered to the Jews: but my kingdom is not from hence. ³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto Him, Art thou then a king? Jesus answered, Thou sayest right, I am a king. For this end was I born, and for this came I into the world, even that I might bear witness to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice.

³ and threw a purple robe about Him, and said, "Hail king of the Jews," and struck Him with their hands.

¹⁹ And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross: and there was written, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. ²⁰ Many of the Jews therefore read this inscription; for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin. ²¹ And the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, Write not "The king of the Jews," but that "He said, I am king of the Jews."
