1 The beginning of the gospel of JESUS CHRIST the Son of GOD. 2 As it is written in the prophets, "Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee:" 3 and again, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight:" accordingly John came baptizing in the wilderness, 4 and preaching the baptism of repentance in order to the remission of sins; 5 and all the country of Judea, and those of Jerusalem, went out to him, and were all baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins. 6 And John was clothed with camels hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins, and he lived upon locusts and wild honey: and he preached, 7 saying, There cometh after me one mightier than I, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop and unloose. 8 I indeed have baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the holy Spirit. 9 And in those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized by John in Jordan: 10 and as soon as He came up from the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon Him. 11 And there was a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. 12 And immediately the Spirit taketh Him out into the wilderness: 13 and He was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan, and among the wild beasts: and angels ministred unto Him. 14 Now after John was cast into prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15 and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent, and believe the gospel. 16 And as He was walking by the sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, 17 (for they were fishermen,) and Jesus said unto them, Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men: 18 and immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 19 And going a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship, mending their nets, and immediately called them likewise: 20 and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the men he had hired, and went along with Him. 21 And they went into Capernaum: and going directly into the synagogue on the sabbath, He taught the people: and they were astonished at his doctrine; 22 for He taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. 23 And there was in their synagogue a man with an impure spirit, 24 and he cried out, saying, Let us alone, what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee, who thou art, the holy one of God. 25 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him: and the impure spirit threw him into convulsions, 26 and roaring with a loud voice, came out of him. 27 And they were all amazed, so that they inquired of each other, saying, What is this, what new kind of doctrine is this? for He commands with authority even the impure spirits, and they obey Him. 28 And straitway his fame spread into all the country round about Galilee. 29 And as soon as they came out of the synagogue, they went into the house of Simon and Andrew, together with James and John. 30 And Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever: and they immediately told Him of her: 31 and He came to her, and taking her by the hand raised her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she waited upon them. 32 And in the evening, when the sun set, they brought to Him all that were ill, and demoniacs: 33 and the whole city was gathered together at the door; 34 and He healed many that were ill of various diseases, and cast out many devils, and suffered not the devils to say that they knew Him. 35 And in the morning, before it was light, He rose up and went out, and retired into a solitary place, and there prayed. 36 And Simon, and they that were with him, went in quest of Him: 37 and when they found Him, they said to Him, all the people are seeking for thee. 38 And He saith unto them, Let us go into the neighbouring towns, that I may preach there also; for this was the end of my coming. 39 And He went preaching in their synagogues, through all Galilee, and casting out devils. 40 And there came to Him a leper, beseeching Him, and kneeling down to Him, and saying unto Him, If thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me: 41 and Jesus, being moved with compassion, stretched out his hand and touched him, and saith unto Him, I will; 42 be thou healed: and as soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was healed. 43 And he gave him a strict charge, and immediately dismissed him, 44 and saith unto him, See thou tell no man: but go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy purification what Moses has commanded, for a testimony to them. 45 But when he was gone he began to publish it much, and to spread abroad the report: so that Jesus could no more go openly into the city, but kept out in country places: and they came to Him from all parts.

35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee, and therefore thine holy offspring shall be called the Son of God: and lo,

70 in the house of his servant David, as He spake by the mouth of his holy prophets from the beginning,

10 and the angel said to them, Be not affrighted; for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people, 11 that this day is born, in the city of David, your Saviour Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:49

49 And He said to them, Why did ye so seek me? Did not ye know that I ought to be in my Father's house?

Luke 3:2-16

2 and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, Annas and Caiaphas being high priests, the word of God came unto John the Son of Zacharias in the wilderness:

Luke 3:2-3

2 and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene, Annas and Caiaphas being high priests, the word of God came unto John the Son of Zacharias in the wilderness: 3 and he went into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance in order to the remission of sins;

Luke 3:3-3

3 and he went into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance in order to the remission of sins; 4 as it is written in the book of Esaias the prophet, saying, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight:

Luke 3:4-6

4 as it is written in the book of Esaias the prophet, saying, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight: 5 every valley shall be raised, and every mountain and hill shall be lowered, and the crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth:

Luke 3:5-6

5 every valley shall be raised, and every mountain and hill shall be lowered, and the crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth: 6 and all men shall see the salvation of God."

Luke 3:6-6

6 and all men shall see the salvation of God." 7 Therefore said he to the multitudes that came to be baptised by him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits becoming penitents, and do not say within yourselves, "We have Abraham for our father," for I tell you that God can of these stones raise up children to Abraham. 9 And now the ax is laid to the root of the trees: every tree therefore which doth not yield good fruit, is cut down and cast into the fire. 10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? 11 And he saith unto them, Let him that hath two coats, give one to him that hath none, and let him that hath food do the like. 12 And there came publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? 13 And He said unto them, Exact no more than what is appointed you. 14 And the soldiers also asked him, saying, And what shall we do? and He said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely, and be content with your pay. 15 Now as the people were in suspense, and were all thinking in their hearts concerning John, whether he were the Christ or not, 16 John answered and said to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but a mightier than I is coming, whose shoes I am not worthy to untie: He will baptize you with the holy Spirit, and with fire;

Luke 3:16

16 John answered and said to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but a mightier than I is coming, whose shoes I am not worthy to untie: He will baptize you with the holy Spirit, and with fire;

Luke 3:20

20 added this likewise to all the rest, that he shut up John in prison. 21 Now, when all the people were baptized, and Jesus was baptized and praying, 22 the heaven was opened, and the holy Spirit descended in a corporeal form, like a dove upon Him, and there came a voice from heaven saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.

Luke 3:22

22 the heaven was opened, and the holy Spirit descended in a corporeal form, like a dove upon Him, and there came a voice from heaven saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.

Luke 4:1-13

1 Now Jesus being full of the holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted by the devil; 2 and He did eat nothing in all those days: and when they were ended, at last He was hungry. 3 And the devil said to Him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone to become bread. 4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, that man shall not live by bread only, but on every word of God. 5 And the devil taking Him up into an high mountain, shewed Him all the kingdoms of the world in an instant, 6 and said to Him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for it is committed to me, and I give it to whomsoever I will. 7 Therefore, if thou wilt but worship me, they all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answering him said with indignation, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. 9 And he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set him on a battlement of the temple, and said to Him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence; 10 for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, 11 to keep thee, and they shall bear thee up in their hands, least thou dash thy foot against a stone. 12 And Jesus answered him, it is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. 13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from Him for a time.

Luke 4:16

16 And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up: and according to his custom He went into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, and stood up to read. 17 And there was delivered to Him the book of the prophet Esaias; and opening the book, He found the place where it was written,

Luke 4:17

17 And there was delivered to Him the book of the prophet Esaias; and opening the book, He found the place where it was written, 18 "The spirit of the Lord is upon me to the end, for which He hath anointed me: He hath sent me to publish good tidings to the poor, to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to release them that are bruised,

Luke 4:18-21

18 "The spirit of the Lord is upon me to the end, for which He hath anointed me: He hath sent me to publish good tidings to the poor, to heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to release them that are bruised, 19 and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."

Luke 4:19-21

19 and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." 20 And He folded up the book, and gave it again to the minister, and sat down: and the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed upon Him. 21 And He said unto them, this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Luke 4:31-37

31 And He came down to Capernaum a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath-days, 32 and they were astonished at his doctrine; for He spake with authority.

Luke 4:32

32 and they were astonished at his doctrine; for He spake with authority. 33 And there was a man in the synagogue possessed by the spirit of an impure demon, and he cried out with a loud voice, 34 saying, Let us alone, what hast thou to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the holy one of God:

Luke 4:34

34 saying, Let us alone, what hast thou to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know who thou art, the holy one of God: 35 but Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him. And the demon threw him down in the midst of the assembly, and came out of him, having done him no hurt.

Luke 4:35

35 but Jesus rebuked him, saying, Be silent, and come out of him. And the demon threw him down in the midst of the assembly, and came out of him, having done him no hurt. 36 And they were all amazed, and said one to another, What a speech is this? for with authority and power He commandeth the impure spirits, and they come out!

Luke 4:36

36 And they were all amazed, and said one to another, What a speech is this? for with authority and power He commandeth the impure spirits, and they come out! 37 And his fame spread all over the country round about.

Luke 4:37

37 And his fame spread all over the country round about. 38 And He rose up and went out of the synagogue, and came into the house of Simon: now Simon's wife's mother had a violent fever, and they intreated Him on her behalf. 39 And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever, and it left her: and immediately she arose and waited upon them. 40 And at sun-set all that had any persons sick of any diseases, brought them to Him: and He laid his hands on every one of them and healed them. 41 And demons also came out from many, crying out, Thou art the Messiah the Son of God. And He rebuked them, and suffered them not to say, that they knew Him to be the Christ. 42 And when the day was coming on, He went out and retired into a solitary place; and the people sought for Him, and came to Him, and would fain have detained Him, that He might not go from them. 43 But He said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

Luke 4:43-43

43 But He said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

Luke 4:43

43 But He said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent. 44 So He went on preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

Luke 5:1-11

1 And when the people were pressing on Him to hear the word of God, as He stood by the lake of Gennesareth, seeing two vessels at the edge of the lake, 2 (but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets:) 3 He went into one of them, which was Simon's, and desired him to put off a little way from the shore: and He sat down and taught the multitudes from the ship. 4 And when He had done speaking, He said to Simon, Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. 5 And Simon answered and said unto Him, Master, we have been toiling all the night, and have caught nothing; however at thy word I will cast the net. 6 And when they had done this, they inclosed a multitude of fishes; and their net was breaking. 7 And they beckoned to their partners that were in the other ship, to come and help them; and they came, and filled both the ships, so that they were even sinking: and when Simon Peter saw it, 8 he fell at the knees of Jesus, saying, Lord, depart from me, for I am a sinful man; 9 for he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of fishes which they had taken; 10 as were also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Be not afraid, from henceforth thou shalt be a captor of men.

Luke 5:10

10 as were also James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Be not afraid, from henceforth thou shalt be a captor of men. 11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they left all and followed Him.

Luke 5:11

11 And when they had brought their ships to land, they left all and followed Him. 12 And when He was in one of the cities of that country, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus, fell prostrate to Him, and besought Him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst cleanse me. 13 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be thou cleansed: and immediately the leprosy departed from him. 14 And He charged him to tell no one: but go, said He, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

Luke 5:14

14 And He charged him to tell no one: but go, said He, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. 15 But the fame of Him spread more and more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. 16 But He frequently retired into solitary places, and prayed.

Luke 5:16-17

16 But He frequently retired into solitary places, and prayed. 17 And one day, as He was teaching, there were pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea, and from Jerusalem; and the power of the Lord was present to heal the people:

12 And in those days He went out to a mountain to pray, and He continued all night in prayer to God.

Luke 6:14

14 (to wit, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, James and John, Philip and Bartholomew,

6 So Jesus went with them. And when He was now not far from the house, the centurion sent some of his friends to Him, saying Lord, trouble not thyself, for I am not worthy that thou shouldst enter under my roof: 7 neither did I think myself worthy to come unto thee. But speak the word, and my servant will be recovered.

Luke 7:12-13

12 and as He came near to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carrying out to be buried, his mother's only son, and she was a widow: and many of the people of the city were with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, He was moved with compassion for her, and said to her, Do not weep.

Luke 7:27-28

27 This is he of whom it is written, "Behold I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee:" 28 for I tell you that among the sons of men there is not a greater prophet than John the baptist: (though the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he:)

Luke 8:1

1 And it came to pass afterwards that He went through every city and village, preaching and declaring the good tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with Him; 2 and some women that had been cured of evil spirits and other infirmities, as Mary Magdalene, out of whom were cast seven demons, 3 and Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who assisted Him with their substance.

Luke 10:17-20

17 And the seventy returned with joy saying, Lord, even the devils are subject to us through thy name. 18 And He said unto them, I beheld Satan, as lightning, falling from heaven. 19 Behold I give you power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the might of the enemy; and nothing shall at all hurt you. 20 However rejoice not in this, that the spirits are subject to you; but rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven.

33 So, every one of you, that doth not give up all that he hath, cannot be my disciple.

Luke 17:12-19

12 and as He entered into a certain village, there met Him ten men that were lepers: 13 who stood at a distance, and lifted up their voice, saying, Jesus master, have pity on us. 14 And when He saw them, He said unto them, Go and shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were going, they were cleansed.

Luke 17:14

14 And when He saw them, He said unto them, Go and shew yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were going, they were cleansed. 15 And one of them, perceiving that he was healed, returned, with a loud voice glorifying God: 16 and fell prostrate at his feet, giving Him thanks; and He was a Samaritan. 17 And Jesus answered and said, Were not all the ten cleansed? and where are the other nine? 18 Are there none returning to give glory to God, but this stranger? 19 And He said to him, Arise, go thy way; thy faith hath saved thee.

Luke 18:28-30

28 Then said Peter, Behold, we have quitted all, and followed Thee. 29 And He said unto them, Verily I tell you, there is no one that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who shall not receive manifold more even in this life, and in the world to come life everlasting. 31 And He took the twelve with Him and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

15 which all your adversaries shall not be able to contradict nor withstand.

Luke 22:39-46

39 And He came out and went, as He used to do, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed Him. 40 And when He was at the place, He said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 41 And when He was withdrawn from them about a stone's-cast, He kneeled down and prayed saying,

Luke 22:41

41 And when He was withdrawn from them about a stone's-cast, He kneeled down and prayed saying, 42 Father, if thou art willing take away this cup from me---nevertheless, not my will but thine be done. 43 And there appeared to Him an angel from heaven strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was like clotted blood falling down upon the ground. 45 And when He rose up from prayer, He came to his disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow; 46 and He said to them, Why do ye sleep? rise and pray, that ye enter not into temptation.

Luke 24:19

19 And He said unto them, What things? And they replied, Those concerning Jesus of Nazareth, who was a prophet powerful both in work and word before God and all the people:

Luke 24:47

47 and that in his name should be preached repentance and remission of sins to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

John 1:14

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, being full of grace and truth: and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father. 15 Of Him did John bare witness, and publicly declared, saying, This was He of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me; for He was before me.

John 1:19-34

19 And this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent from Jerusalem priests and Levites to ask him, Who art thou? 20 he confessed, and denied not; but declared openly, I am not the Christ. 21 And they asked him, What then? art thou Elias? And he said, I am not. Art thou a prophet? and he answered, No. 22 Therefore said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us: What dost thou say of thy self? 23 and he said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord," according to Esaias the prophet. 24 Now they that were sent, were of the pharisees: 25 and they asked him, and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elias, nor a prophet? 26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; 27 that cometh after me, but is preferred before me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose.

John 1:27

27 that cometh after me, but is preferred before me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose. 28 These things passed at Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

John 1:28

28 These things passed at Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming towards him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. 30 This is He of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who is preferred before me: for He was before me. 31 And I knew Him not: but therefore came I baptizing with water, that He might be made known to Israel. 32 And John testified saying, I saw the Spirit descending like a dove from heaven, and it abode upon Him. 33 And I knew Him not: but He that sent me to baptize with water, said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending and abiding on Him, the same is he that baptizeth with the Holy Spirit. 34 And I saw it, and therefore testified that this is the Son of God.

John 1:34-34

34 And I saw it, and therefore testified that this is the Son of God.

John 1:40-42

40 Now Andrew the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two that heard what John said, and thereupon followed Jesus. 41 He first meeteth with his own brother Simon, and telleth him, "We have found the Messiah, which is to say, the Christ." 42 And Andrew brought him to Jesus: and Jesus looking at him said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas, thou shalt be called Cephas; which is interpreted a stone.

John 1:49

49 Nathaniel replied, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the king of Israel.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him might not perish, but have everlasting life:

26 And they came to John, and said unto him, Rabbi, He that was with thee on the other side Jordan, to whom thou barest testimony, behold, He baptizeth and all the people come to Him.

John 3:28-36

28 Ye your selves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but am sent before Him.

John 3:28-31

28 Ye your selves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but am sent before Him. 29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth with great joy at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore my joy is complete.

John 3:29-31

29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth with great joy at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore my joy is complete. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

John 3:30-31

30 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 He, that cometh from above, is above all: he that is of the earth, is earthly, and talketh like one of the earth:

John 3:31-31

31 He, that cometh from above, is above all: he that is of the earth, is earthly, and talketh like one of the earth: 32 but He that cometh from heaven, is above all: and what He hath seen and heard, this He testifieth: and yet scarce any one receiveth his testimony. 33 He that hath received his testimony, hath set his seal to this, that God is true: 34 for He, whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth the Spirit to Him not by measure. 35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all into his hand: 36 wherefore he that believeth on the Son, hath eternal life; and he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 4:34

50 Jesus saith unto him, Go, thy son is well. And the man believed what Jesus said unto him, and went his way. 51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, Thy son is well. 52 He inquired therefore of them the hour in which he grew better: and they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. 53 So the father knew that it was in that same hour, in which Jesus said to him, Thy son is well. And he and his whole family believed.

John 5:20-23

20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth Him all things, which He Himself doth: and He will shew Him greater than these, that ye may wonder. 21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead and giveth life: even so the Son maketh alive whom He pleaseth. 22 For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgement to the Son; 23 that all men may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father: he, that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father that sent Him.

John 5:37

37 And the Father who sent me, hath Himself borne witness of me: and yet ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.

Then came a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. 29 The people therefore that stood by, and heard it, said, That it was thunder: but others said, it was an angel spake to Him. 30 Jesus answered and said, This voice came not for my sake, but for yours.

I am not He: but behold there cometh one after me, the shoes of whose feet I am not worthy to unloose. 26 ---Men and brethren, children of the race of Abraham, and all those among you that fear God, to you is the word of this salvation sent. 27 For the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and their rulers, not knowing Him, have indeed fulfilled the words of the prophets, which are read every sabbath-day, in condemning Him. 28 And though they found in Him no capital offence, yet they desired of Pilate that He might be put to death. 29 And when they had finished all things that were written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb. 30 But God raised Him from the dead: 31 and He was seen for many days by those that came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people. 32 And we bring you good tidings, 33 that the promise made unto the fathers God hath fulfilled unto us their children, having raised up Jesus again: as it is also written in the second psalm, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee." 34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to the place of corruption, He hath said thus, "I will give you the sure mercies of David." 35 Wherefore he saith also in another place, Thou wilt not suffer thine holy One to see corruption. 36 Now David having served his own generation according to the will of God, fell asleep, and was laid with his fathers, and saw corruption: but He whom God raised, 37 did not see corruption. 38 Be it known therefore unto you, brethren, that through Him is preached unto you the remission of sins: 39 and by Him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses. 40 Beware therefore, least what is spoken in the prophets come upon you, 41 "Behold, ye despisers, and wonder, and vanish; for I do a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though any one should declare it unto you." 42 As they went out of the synagogue of the Jews, the Gentiles desired that these words might be spoken to them on the following sabbath. 43 And when the synagogue was broken up, many of the Jews and of the devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas; who addressing themselves to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. 44 And on the next sabbath almost all the city came together to hear the word of God.

Acts 13:44

44 And on the next sabbath almost all the city came together to hear the word of God. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and contradicted the things which were spoken by Paul, opposing and reviling him. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas boldly said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but since ye reject it, and judge not yourselves worthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles: 47 for so the Lord hath commanded us, saying, "I have appointed thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation to the utmost part of the earth." 48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they rejoiced and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were determined for eternal life believed. 49 And the word of the Lord was spread through the whole country: 50 but the Jews stirred up devout and honorable women, and the heads of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their territories. 51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the holy Spirit.
