²⁴ Whoever therefore heareth these words of mine, and performeth them, I will compare him to a prudent man, who built his house on a rock: ²⁵ and the rain fell upon it, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not; for it was founded upon a rock. ²⁶ And whoever heareth these words of mine, and performeth them not, shall be likened to a foolish man, who built his house upon the sand: ²⁷ and the rain fell upon it, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell, and the fall thereof was great.

³⁹ The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. ⁴⁰ As therefore the tares are gathered together, and burnt in the fire; so shall it be in the end of the world:

⁴⁹ So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and separate the wicked from among the righteous;

²⁰ for where two or three are assembled together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

³ And when He was got to the mount of olives, the disciples came to Him in private and said, Tell us when these things shall be, and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world.

²⁰ And they went forth and preached every where, the Lord co-operating with them, and confirming the word by miracles following upon it. Amen.

¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans: I will come to you. ¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world shall see me no more; but ye shall see me: and because I live, ye shall live also. ²⁰ Then ye shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. ²¹ He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him. ²² Judas (not the Iscariot) saith unto Him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy self to us, and not to the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will observe my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and will make our abode with him.

⁴² And they continued stedfast in the apostles doctrine, and fellowship, and in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

⁹ And the Lord said to Paul by a vision in the night, "Fear not, but speak: and be not silent: ¹⁰ for I am with thee, and no man shall lay hands on thee to hurt thee; for I have much people in this city."

²⁰ And how I with-held nothing that was useful, but have declared it to you, and have taught you publicly and from house to house: ²¹ testifying both to the Jews and Greeks, repentance towards God, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁷ For I have not failed to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

² Now I commend you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

²³ For I received from the Lord, that which I also delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread:

³⁷ If any one seem to be a prophet, or acted by the Spirit, let him acknowlege that what I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.

¹¹ And therefore He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers; to qualify holy men for the work of the ministry, ¹² to the edifying of the body of Christ: ¹³ till we all arrive in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, at perfect maturity, even to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. ¹⁴ That we may be no longer children fluctuating and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the artful insinuations of men, and their crafty methods of deceiving; ¹⁵ but holding the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him, who is the head, even Christ: ¹⁶ from whom the whole body being fitly joined together and compacted by the aid of every joint, according to the operation proportioned to every part, maketh an increase to the edification of itself in love. ¹⁷ This I say therefore, and charge you in the name of the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk,

²⁰ But ye have not so learned Christ; ²¹ if ye have indeed hearkened to Him, and been instructed in Him, as the truth is in Jesus; to put off the old man, ²² which according to your former conversation was corrupted with deceitful lusts, ²³ and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; ²⁴ and to put on the new man, which according to the image of God is created in righteousness, and true holiness. ²⁵ Wherefore putting away lying, speak ye every one truth to his neighbor; for we are all members of one society. ²⁶ Be angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath; ²⁷ and give not the devil room to ensnare you. ²⁸ Let him that stole steal no more; but rather let him labour, doing some good with his hands, that he may have something to bestow on him that hath need of it. ²⁹ Let no corrupt word come out of your mouth; but what is good to useful edification, that it may benefit the hearers. ³⁰ And grieve not the holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed to the day of redemption. ³¹ Let all bitterness, and wrath, and fury, and clamor, and calumny, be put away from you, with all malice: and be kind one to another, ³² tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgiveth you.

²⁸ whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

¹ As to what remains therefore, my brethren, we intreat and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received instructions from us, how ye ought to walk and to please God, ye would abound therein more and more. ² For ye know what commandments we gave you from the Lord Jesus.

⁶ Now we charge you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to withdraw yourselves from every brother who walketh disorderly, and not according to the instruction which he received from us. ⁷ For ye know how ye ought to imitate us: for we were not disorderly among you; ⁸ neither did we eat any one's bread for nothing; but with labor and toil, working night and day, that we might not be burthensome to any of you. ⁹ Not that we have not power, but that we might give ourselves as an example to you to imitate us. ¹⁰ For when we were with you, we gave you this charge, if any will not work, neither let him eat. ¹¹ For we hear that there are some among you that walk disorderly, doing no work themselves, but very busy in the affairs of others. ¹² Such we charge and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that they work quietly and earn their own bread.

¹ Let as many as are servants under the yoke account their own masters worthy of all honor; that the name of God and his doctrine may not be blasphemed: ² and let not those who have believing masters, despise them, because they are brethren; but serve them more readily, because they are faithful and beloved by God, partakers of his grace. ³ These things teach and exhort. If any one teach otherwise, and adhere not to the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the doctrine which is according to godliness; ⁴ he is proud, knowing nothing, but is delirious about questions and strifes of words: from which cometh envy, contention, calumnies, wicked suspicions, perverse debates of men corrupted in mind,

¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that by me the gospel might be fully spread, and that all the nations might hear: and so I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

¹ But do thou speak the things which become sound doctrine: ² that aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in the faith, in love, in patience: ³ the aged women likewise in behaviour as becometh saints, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of that which is good; ⁴ that they may instruct the young women to be temperate, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be prudent, ⁵ chaste, keepers at home, good, submissive to their husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of. ⁶ Exhort the young men in like manner to be temperate: ⁷ in all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works, with uncorruptness in teaching, gravity, sound doctrine that cannot be condemned; ⁸ that he who opposeth it may be ashamed, having no evil to say of you. ⁹ Exhort servants to submit to their masters, to be obsequious in all things, ¹⁰ not answering frowardly, not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

¹⁰ who heretofore were not a people, but are now the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. ¹¹ Dearly beloved, I exhort you as strangers and sojourners here, to abstain from carnal lusts, which war against the soul: ¹² having a good conversation among the Gentiles; that whereas they speak against you as evil-doers, they may glorify God in the day of their visitation, on account of the good works which they behold in you. ¹³ Be subject therefore to every human form of government, for the Lord's sake: whether it be to a king as supreme; ¹⁴ or to governors as persons sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers, and the praise of them that do well. ¹⁵ For so is the will of God, that by your good behaviour ye may silence the ignorance of foolish men: ¹⁶ as free, and yet not using your liberty as a cloke for wickedness, but as the servants of God. ¹⁷ Give due honor to all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. ¹⁸ Ye who are servants, be subject to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and mild, but also to the morose: ¹⁹ for this is an evidence of grace, if any one for conscience towards God endure griefs, suffering unjustly.

⁵ And to this giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude; ⁶ and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety; ⁷ and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity. ⁸ For if these be in you and abound, they will not suffer you to be idle, nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ But he, that hath not these, is blind, or short-sighted, having forgot his baptismal purification from his former sins. ¹⁰ Wherefore, my brethren, be the more diligent thus to make your calling and election sure; for if ye do these things ye shall never fall. ¹¹ For so an entrance shall be administered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

² that ye may be mindful of the words formerly spoken by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: knowing this first,

³ And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep his commandments. ⁴ He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

¹⁹ And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. ²⁰ For, if our heart condemn us, God is still greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence towards God: ²² and whatsoever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep his commandments, and do the things that are pleasing in his sight. ²³ And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He hath given us a charge to do. ²⁴ And he, that keepeth his commandments, abideth in Him, and He in him: and hereby we know that He abideth in us, even by the Spirit which He hath given us.

¹⁸ I am the first and the last, who live, though I was dead; and behold, I am alive for ever and ever, Amen, and have the keys of hades and of death.

¹⁴ Happy are they that do his commandments, so shall they have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

²⁰ He who testifieth these things saith, I surely come quickly. Amen, even so come, Lord Jesus. ²¹ The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
