¹ This is the written genealogy of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. ² He created them male and female and blessed them. When they were created, he called them Mankind. ³ When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. ⁴ After Seth was born, Adam lived eight hundred years and had other sons and daughters. ⁵ Adam lived a total of 930 years and then died. ⁶ When Seth had lived 105 years, he fathered Enosh. ⁷ After he fathered Enosh, Seth lived 807 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ⁸ Seth lived a total of 912 years and then died. ⁹ When Enosh had lived 90 years, he fathered Kenan. ¹⁰ After he fathered Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ¹¹ Enosh lived a total of 905 years and then died. ¹² When Kenan had lived 70 years, he fathered Mahalalel. ¹³ After he fathered Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ¹⁴ Altogether, Kenan lived nine hundred and ten years, and then he died. ¹⁵ When Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Jared. ¹⁶ After he fathered Jared, Mahalalel lived 830 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ¹⁷ Mahalalel lived a total of 895 years and then died. ¹⁸ When Jared had lived 162 years, he fathered Enoch. ¹⁹ After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived eight hundred years and had other sons and daughters. ²⁰ Jared lived a total of 962 years and then died. ²¹ When Enoch lived sixty-five years, he became the father of Methuselah. ²² After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years and had other sons and daughters. ²³ Enoch lived a total of 365 years. ²⁴ Enoch walked with God. Then he was no more, because God took (moved) him away. ²⁵ When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he fathered Lamech. ²⁶ After he fathered Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ²⁷ Methuselah lived a total of 969 years and then died. ²⁸ When Lamech had lived 182 years, he fathered a son ²⁹ He named him Noah. He said: "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed." ³⁰ After he fathered Noah, Lamech lived 595 years, fathering other sons and daughters. ³¹ Lamech lived a total of 777 years and then died. ³² After Noah was five hundred years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

²⁶ Then God said: "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness. Let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth and over all the creatures that move along the ground." ²⁷ And God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.

⁴ ¶ These are the origins of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens

⁹ This is the ACCOUNT OF NOAH. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. He walked with God.

¹ This is the genealogy of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah's sons, who also had sons after the flood.

¹ Adam, Seth, Enosh,

²⁹ Look! This alone I found: God made mankind upright, but they have devised many schemes."

¹ Remember your Creator in the days of your youth— before the days of trouble come and the years draw near when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them!"

¹ A record of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

³⁶ the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, ³⁷ the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan, ³⁸ the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

⁷ A man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but the woman is the glory of man.

¹⁸ And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

²⁴ and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

¹⁰ and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

³ The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

⁹ Furthermore, we have all had earthly fathers who disciplined us, and we respected them. Should we not much more submit to the Father of our spirits and live?

²⁷ And God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him, male and female he created them.

¹⁵ the LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.

²³ The man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh! She will be called 'woman', because she was taken out of Man.

¹⁵ Did he not make them one? And the vestige of the spirit remains in him. And why did he make them one? He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and don't break faith with the wife of your youth.

⁴ "Have not you read," replied Jesus, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'

⁶ But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female.

²⁶ From one man He made every nation of men, to inhabit the whole earth; and He determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands.

²⁵ Adam had intercourse with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth. She said: "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him."

⁴ "Who can bring what is pure from the impure? No one!

¹⁴ "What is man, that he could be pure? Or he who is born of woman, that he could be righteous? ¹⁵ "If God places no trust in his holy ones, if even the heavens are not pure in his eyes, ¹⁶ how much less man, who is vile and corrupt, who drinks up evil like water!

⁴ "How then can a man be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?

² the LORD looked down from Heaven on the sons of men, to see if there were any who understood and sought God. ³ They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one.

⁵ Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity. In sin my mother conceived me.

³⁵ The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God.

⁶ Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit.

¹² Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned.

³⁹ Not all flesh is the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another, and fish another.

³ We all lived among them at one time in the cravings of our flesh, indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.

²⁸ God blessed them and said to them: "Be fruitful and increase in number. Fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and dominate the birds of the air. Have dominion over every living creature that moves on the ground."

⁷ After he fathered Enosh, Seth lived 807 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

¹⁰ After he fathered Kenan, Enosh lived 815 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

¹³ After he fathered Mahalalel, Kenan lived 840 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

¹⁹ After he became the father of Enoch, Jared lived eight hundred years and had other sons and daughters.

²² After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years and had other sons and daughters.

²⁶ After he fathered Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

³⁰ After he fathered Noah, Lamech lived 595 years, fathering other sons and daughters.

¹ God blessed Noah and his sons. He said: "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.

⁷ And you, be fruitful, and increase, and roam in the earth and sway in it.

¹² When Arpachshad lived thirty-five years, he became the father of Shelah.

¹ Adam, Seth, Enosh, ² Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, ³ Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech,

³ Children are an inheritance from the LORD. They are a blessing from him.

¹² Then our sons will be like well-nurtured plants, our daughters like pillars carved to adorn a palace.

¹⁹ By the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread, until your return to the ground. For from it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

⁸ Seth lived a total of 912 years and then died.

¹¹ Enosh lived a total of 905 years and then died.

²⁰ to love the LORD your God, to listen to His voice, and to cleave to Him, for He is your life, and the length of your days live in the land which the LORD has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give it to them.

¹⁴ For we must die and are as water split on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; God does not take away life, but devises means that he who is banished is not an outcast from him.

²³ "Yes, I know that you will bring me to death, to the house appointed for all living.

⁷ A man cannot at all redeem a brother, nor give to God a ransom for him, ⁸ For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough, ⁹ That he should still live forever, and not see corruption. ¹⁰ For he shall see it. Wise men die. The fool and the brutish alike perish, and leave their wealth to others.

⁴⁸ What man can live on and not see death? Can he deliver his life from the power of Sheol? Selah

¹⁰ The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.

⁵ For the living know that they will die, but the dead do not know anything. They no longer have a reward, and even the memory of them is forgotten.

⁸ Always be clothed in white garments, and never let your head lack oil!

⁵ They are afraid of heights, and terrors are on the road. The almond tree blossoms, and the grasshopper draws itself along, and desire fails because man goes to his eternal home, and the mourners go about in the streets.

⁷ and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.

⁴ Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine. The soul who sins, he shall die.

¹² Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned. ¹³ (for until law sin was in [the] world; but sin is not put to account when there is no law; ¹⁴ Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come.

²¹ For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. ²² For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

²⁷ Just as man is appointed to die once, and after that to face judgment,

²⁶ Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on (proclaim) the name of the LORD.

² Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared,

³⁷ the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalalel, the son of Cainan,

¹⁷ Cain had intercourse with his wife. She became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Later Cain built a city. He named it after his son Enoch.

³ Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech,

¹⁴ Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these, saying: "Behold, the LORD came with many thousands of his holy ones. ¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

²⁴ Enoch walked with God. Then he was no more, because God took (moved) him away.

¹ Abram was ninety-nine years old. the LORD appeared to him and said: "I am God Almighty. Walk before me and be blameless.

⁴⁰ "He said to me: 'the LORD, before whom I have walked, will send his angel with you to make your journey successful. You will take a wife for my son from my relatives and from my father's house.

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said: 'The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who hath been my shepherd all my life long unto this day,

⁴ the LORD said to Moses: "I am going to cause food to rain down from the sky for all of you. The people must go out every day and gather enough for that day. In this way I can test them to find out if they will follow my instructions.

¹² I will walk among you, and will be your God, and you will be my people.

³³ Walk in every way that the LORD your God commanded you, so that life may go well for you, and so that you will prolong your days in the land that you will possess.'"

⁴ You must follow the LORD your God, fear him, observe his commandments, listen to his voice, serve him, and cling to him.

⁹ "the LORD will establish you as a holy people to himself. He swore this to you, if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways.

⁴ So that the Lord may give effect to what he said of me, If your children give attention to their ways, living uprightly before me with all their heart and their soul, you will never be without a man to be king in Israel.

³ "Remember now, LORD, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight." Hezekiah wept bitterly.

⁸ I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

¹¹ But I will walk in my truthfulness; redeem me and be merciful to me.

¹³ For you have delivered me from death, and my feet from stumbling, So that I may walk before God in the light of the living.

¹¹ Teach me your way, LORD. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name.

⁹ I will walk before the LORD in the land of the living.

¹ A song of ascents. Blessed is everyone who fears the LORD, who walks in his ways.

⁴ Take me away with you. Let us hurry. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will praise your love more than wine. They are right to love you.

⁹ Who is wise that he can understand these things? Who is discerning that he knows them? The ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous walk in them; but transgressors stumble in them.

³ Do two walk together, unless they have agreed?

⁵ Indeed all the nations may walk in the name of their gods; but we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.

⁸ He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

⁶ The Law of Truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips. He walked with Me in peace and uprightness, and turned away many from iniquity.

⁶ They were both upright in the sight of God, blamelessly observing all the Lord's commands and requirements.

³¹ Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced a time of peace. It grew in strength and numbers, living in the fear of the Lord and the encouragement of the Holy Spirit.

¹ Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

¹⁷ Regardless, each one should lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him and to which God has called him. This is what I prescribe in all the churches.

¹⁶ What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

¹⁵ Be strictly careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise.

¹⁰ so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,

⁵ Behave wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity.

¹² We comforted and encouraged you, urging you to live in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.

¹ Now then, brothers, you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God, as in fact you are doing. We ask and encourage you in the Lord to do so even more.

⁵ By faith Enoch was taken up so that he did not see death. He could not be found, because God had taken him away. For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. ⁶ And without faith it is impossible to please God, for anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

³⁰ He went back to his brothers, and said, The child is gone; what am I to do?

³⁶ Jacob, their father, said to them, "You have bereaved me of my children. Joseph is no more, Simeon is no more, and you want to take Benjamin away. All these things are against me."

¹ When the LORD was about to take Elijah up in the storm to heaven, Elijah and Elisha went from Gilgal.

¹¹ Then they were walking, talking as they went. Suddenly a fiery chariot with horses of fire appeared and separated between the two of them. Elijah went up in the storm to the heavens

¹⁵ Thus says the LORD: A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping, Rachel weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.

¹⁸ "A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping, and great mourning; Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing to be comforted, because they were no more."

⁴³ Jesus said to him, "I tell you truly to-day you will be with me in Paradise."

¹⁸ To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.

¹⁷ He said to Adam: "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. ¹⁸ It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants from the fields. ¹⁹ By the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread, until your return to the ground. For from it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return."

¹¹ "Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand. ¹² "When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer (vagabond) on the earth."

⁸ But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. ⁹ This is the ACCOUNT OF NOAH. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. He walked with God.

²³ Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out. Men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

²⁴ Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him.

⁹ "To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.

¹⁴ though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would save only their own lives by their righteousness, says the Sovereign LORD.

²⁰ though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, says the Sovereign LORD, they would save neither son nor daughter; they would save only their own lives by their righteousness.

³⁷ As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be at the coming of the Son of Man.

³⁶ the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech,

²⁶ Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man: ²⁷ People were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

⁷ By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in godly fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

²⁰ who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ark was being built. In the ark a few people, only eight souls, were saved through water.

⁵ if He did not spare the ancient world when He brought the flood on its ungodly people, but preserved Noah, a preacher of righteousness, among the eight;

¹⁰ Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

¹³ Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.

¹⁸ Now the sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) ¹⁹ These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth.

²² Ham, father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside. ²³ Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders. Then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness. ²⁴ Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him. ²⁵ And he said, "Cursed be Canaan, a slave of slaves he shall be to his brothers." ²⁶ He also said: "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. ²⁷ "May God extend the territory of Japheth. And may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave."

²¹ Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth. Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber.

³² These are the clans of Noah's sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.

⁴ Noah. The sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. ⁵ The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras. ⁶ The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Diphath, and Togarmah. ⁷ And the sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshishah, the Kittim, and the Rodanim. ⁸ The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put, and Canaan. ⁹ The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabta, Raamah and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dadan. ¹⁰ Cush was the father of Nimrod, the first mighty warrior on the earth. ¹¹ Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, ¹² Pathrusites, Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites. ¹³ Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites, ¹⁴ Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, ¹⁵ Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, ¹⁶ Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. ¹⁷ The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshech. ¹⁸ Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber. ¹⁹ Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, (division) because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. ²⁰ Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, ²¹ Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, ²² Obal, Abimael, Sheba, ²³ Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. ²⁴ Shem, Arphaxad, Shelah, ²⁵ Eber, Peleg, Reu, ²⁶ Serug, Nahor, Terah, ²⁷ and Abram, who is Abraham. ²⁸ The sons of Abraham: Isaac and Ishmael.
