¹ Men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them. ² The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. They married any of them they chose. ³ And the LORD said, My Spirit shall not always plead with Man; for he indeed is flesh; but his days shall be a hundred and twenty years. ⁴ The NEPHILIM were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God had sexual intercourse with the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. ⁵ the LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become. Every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. ⁶ the LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth. His heart was grieved with pain. ⁷ So the LORD said: "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth. All of them: men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air. I am sorry that I created them." ⁸ But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. ⁹ This is the ACCOUNT OF NOAH. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. He walked with God. ¹⁰ Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth. ¹¹ The earth was corrupt in God's sight. It was full of violence. ¹² God saw how corrupt the earth had become. All the people on earth had corrupted their ways. ¹³ God said to Noah: "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am going to destroy them with the earth. ¹⁴ Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood with rooms in it, and make it safe from the water inside and out. ¹⁵ Make the ark like this: 450 feet long, 75 feet wide, and 45 feet high. ¹⁶ "Build a roof on it and finish the ark to within eighteen inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle, and upper decks. ¹⁷ "I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens. Every creature that has the breath of life in it, everything on earth will perish. ¹⁸ "But I will establish my covenant with you. You will enter the ark, you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you. ¹⁹ »Bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. ²⁰ "Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal, and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive. ²¹ "Take every kind of food that is to be eaten and store it away as food for you and for them." ²² Noah did everything exactly as God commanded him.

²⁸ God blessed them and said to them: "Be fruitful and increase in number. Fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and dominate the birds of the air. Have dominion over every living creature that moves on the ground."

⁶ When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

²⁶ Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on (proclaim) the name of the LORD.

³ I will make you swear by the LORD, the God of heaven and the God of the earth, that you shall not take a wife for my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I live.

⁴⁶ Then Rebekah said to Isaac, "I loathe my life because of the Hittite women. If Jacob takes a wife from Hittite women like these, from the native women, what am I living for?"

⁶ He left all that he had in Joseph's hand. He did not concern himself with anything, except for the food which he ate. Joseph was well-built and handsome. ⁷ and after these things his master's wife cast her eyes on Joseph and said, Lie with me;

²² You are to say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the LORD says: "Israel is my firstborn son. ²³ And I say to you, 'Let my son go so he may serve me.' If you refuse to let him go, then, I will kill your firstborn son."'"

¹⁶ and you take from their daughters for your sons. and their daughters fornicate with their gods, and they lead your sons to fornicate with their gods.

³ "Do not intermarry with them. Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons. ⁴ For that would turn away your sons from following me, that they may serve other gods. So the LORD's anger would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.

¹ "You are the sons of the LORD your God. Do not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.

¹² But if you will embrace the errors of these nations that dwell among you, and make marriages with them, and join friendships: ¹³ know for certain that the LORD your God will not continue to drive out these nations ahead of you. Instead, they will be a snare and a trap for you, a whip to your backs, and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land that the LORD your God has given you.

² At evening, David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king's house. From the roof, he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to look at.

¹ After these things were done, the captains came to me and said: "The people of Israel and the priests and Levites have not kept themselves separate from the people of the lands. They have taken part in the disgusting ways of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. ² "They have taken their daughters as wives for themselves and for their sons. They have mingled the holy race with peoples around them. In fact the leaders and officials were first to do this evil."

¹² And now do not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters to your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth forever, so that you may be strong and eat the good of the land and leave it for an inheritance to your sons forever.

²⁴ and their children spoke half in the language of Ashdod, and did not know how to speak in the Jewish language. ²⁵ So I quarreled with them and cursed them and beat some of their men and pulled out their hair. I made them take an oath by God: "Do not give your daughters to their sons or take their daughters for your sons or for yourselves. ²⁶ "Was it not in these things that Solomon, king of Israel, did wrong? Among a number of nations there was no king like him. He was dear to his God, and God made him king over all Israel. But even he was made to do evil by strange women. ²⁷ And should we hearken to you to do all this great evil, to act unfaithfully to our God by marrying foreign wives?

¹ "I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a young woman.

⁶ I said you are gods; and all sons of the Most High: ⁷ However, you will die like men, and you will fall like one of the princes."

¹⁶ For you are our father, although Abraham does not know us, and Israel does not acknowledge us. You, the LORD are our father, Our Redeemer from of old is your name.

¹¹ Judah has been faithless, and a detestable thing has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. Judah has profaned the sanctuary of the LORD which he loves, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.

¹⁵ Did he not make them one? And the vestige of the spirit remains in him. And why did he make them one? He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and don't break faith with the wife of your youth.

⁴¹ You are doing the works of your father.” “We are not illegitimate children,” they declared. “Our only Father is God Himself.” ⁴² Jesus said to them, "If God were your father you would love me; for I came forth from God and am now here. For I have not come of myself, but he sent me.

⁷ Nor because they are Abraham’s descendants are they all his children. On the contrary, “Through Isaac your offspring will be reckoned.” ⁸ So it is not the children of the flesh who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as offspring.

³⁹ A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to marry anyone she wishes, as long as he belongs to the Lord.

¹⁴ Do not enter a mismatch with unbelievers; for what do righteousness and lawlessness have in common? And what fellowship does light have with darkness? ¹⁵ What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? ¹⁶ What agreement can exist between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”

¹⁸ "I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty."

¹⁴ They have eyes full of adultery, that never cease from sin; they entice unstable souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children!

¹⁶ For the things in the world--the cravings of the earthly nature, the cravings of the eyes, the show and pride of life--they all come, not from the Father, but from the world.

¹⁷ I will come down and speak with you there; I will take away from the spirit that is on you, and I will place it on them; and they will bear the burdens of the people with you; you will not bear it alone.

³⁰ You were patient with them for many years, warning them by your Spirit through your prophets. But they would not listen, so you turned them over to the control of people in other lands.

³⁹ for he remembered that they were flesh, a passing wind that does not return.

⁴ What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? Why, when I looked for it to yield grapes, did it yield wild grapes?

¹⁰ But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit. Therefore he turned and became their enemy, and he himself fought against them.

⁷ For I solemnly warned your fathers in the day I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, to this day rising early and warning, saying, Obey My voice.

¹¹ "'Therefore the LORD says: 'I am going to bring a disaster on them that they cannot escape. Although they will cry out to me, I will not listen to them.

⁶ Flesh is born of flesh, but spirit is born of the Spirit.

⁵¹ You stiff-necked people with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit, just as your fathers did.

¹ Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. ² For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life has set you free from the law of sin and death. ³ For what the Law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh, ⁴ in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. ⁵ Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. ⁶ The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace, ⁷ because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s Law, nor can it do so. ⁸ Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God. ⁹ You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. ¹⁰ But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet the Spirit gives you life because of righteousness. ¹¹ But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit indwelling in you. ¹² Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation, but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. ¹³ For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

¹⁶ So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to one another, so that you do not do what you want. ¹⁸ But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. ¹⁹ The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery; ²⁰ Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, strife, jealousy, fits of rage, selfishness, dissensions, factions, ²¹ and envy; drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. ²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, ²³ gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. ²⁴ Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

¹⁹ Do not put out the Spirit's fire.

¹⁸ For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body, but made alive in the spirit, ¹⁹ by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, ²⁰ who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ark was being built. In the ark a few people, only eight souls, were saved through water.

¹⁴ Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these, saying: "Behold, the LORD came with many thousands of his holy ones. ¹⁵ to execute judgment on all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

⁴ Then they said: "Let us build ourselves a city, with a lofty tower that reaches into space, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

³³ There we saw the Nephilim (the descendants of Anak came from the Nephilim), and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their eyes."

² and they rose up against Moses, with two hundred and fifty men of the sons of Israel, princes of the congregation, of the council, men of renown;

²⁰ (That also is considered a land of Rephaim. Rephaim lived there in the past, but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim, ²¹ a people great and numerous and as tall as the Anakites; the LORD destroyed them from before them, and they dispossessed them and settled in place of them,

¹¹ »Of the Rephaim only King Og of Bashan was left. His bed was made of iron and was more than thirteen feet long and six feet wide. It is still in the Ammonite city of Rabbah.

⁴ A champion named Goliath from Gath came out from the Philistine camp. He was six and a half feet tall,

¹⁵ Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David and his men went to fight the Philistines. David became exhausted. ¹⁶ And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of the Raphah, the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of bronze in weight, who was armed with a new sword, thought he could kill David. ¹⁷ And Abishai son of Zeruiah helped him, and he struck the Philistine and killed him. Then the men of David swore by an oath, saying, You shall not come forth still with us into battle, that in no way the lamp of Israel should be extinguished. ¹⁸ And there was yet, after this, battle with the Philistines at Nob, in which Sibbecai the Hushathite slew Saph of the sons of Haraphah. ¹⁹ And there was again war with the Philistines at Gob. And Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam. ²⁰ There was also another battle at Geth, and there was a smooth man who had six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot, twenty four in all, and he was a descendant of Rapha, ²¹ When he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David's brother, killed him. ²² These four were born of Arapha in Geth, and they fell by the hand of David, and of his servants.

²¹ the LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, for the intent of his heart is evil from childhood. I will never again destroy every living creature, as I have done.

¹³ The men of Sodom were wicked and sinned greatly against the LORD.

²⁰ And the LORD said, "The cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and their sin is exceeding grievous. ²¹ I will go down now, and see whether their deeds are as bad as the reports which have come to me. If not, I will know.

¹⁹ because when such a person hears the words of this oath, he will bless himself and say: 'I will have a peaceful life, even though I'm determined to be stubborn.' By doing this he will be sweeping away both watered and parched ground alike.'

¹⁶ how much less man, who is vile and corrupt, who drinks up evil like water!

¹ For the music director. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt. They do abominable deeds. There is none who does good. ² the LORD looked down from Heaven on the sons of men, to see if there were any who understood and sought God. ³ They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one. ⁴ Have all evildoers no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread? They do not call on the LORD.

² God looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there were any who understood, who seek after God.

¹⁸ a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,

²⁹ Look! This alone I found: God made mankind upright, but they have devised many schemes."

³ There is a tragedy that infects everything that happens on earth: a common event happens to everyone. In fact, the hearts of human beings are full of evil. Madness remains in their hearts while they live, and afterwards they join the dead.

¹⁴ "O Jerusalem, wash the evil from your heart so that you may be saved. How long will your wicked thoughts lodge within you?

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and incurable; who can know it?

⁹ And he said unto me, Go in, and see the wicked abominations which they are doing here.

¹² Then He said to me, Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, every man in his rooms of images? They say, 'the LORD doesn't see us; the LORD has forsaken the land'.

¹⁹ For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.

²¹ For from within the hearts of men come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, ²² Greed, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, haughtiness, folly; ²³ All these evil things come from inside, and make the man unclean.

²⁸ And since they did not see fit to retain the knowledge of God, God gave them over to a base mind, to do what ought not to be done. ²⁹ They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and hatred. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, ³⁰ slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant, and boastful. They invent new forms of evil; they disobey their parents. ³¹ They are senseless, faithless, heartless, merciless.

⁹ What then? Are we any better? Not at all. For we have already made the charge that Jews and Greeks alike are all under sin. ¹⁰ As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; ¹¹ there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. ¹² All have turned away; they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one. ¹³ Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit; the venom of vipers is on their lips; ¹⁴ Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. ¹⁵ "Their feet are swift to shed blood. ¹⁶ ruin and misery [are] in their ways, ¹⁷ and the way of peace they do not know." ¹⁸ "There is no fear of God before their eyes." ¹⁹ Now we know that whatever the Law says, it says to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.

¹ As for you, you were dead in your trespasses and sins, ² in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. ³ We all lived among them at one time in the cravings of our flesh, indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath.

³ For at one time we too were foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to all sorts of desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

¹⁴ So the LORD changed his mind and did not bring disaster on his people as he threatened.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of humankind, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? And has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

²⁹ Oh that they had such a heart with them to fear me and keep all my commandments always, that it might go well with them and with their children forever.

²⁹ If only they were wise, they would understand this; they would discern for themselves their end.

³⁶ For the LORD shall judge his people, and have compassion on his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none left, slave or free.

¹¹ "I regret that I made Saul king, because he has turned away from following me and has not carried out my commands." Samuel was angry, and he cried out to the LORD all night.

²⁹ Moreover, the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind, for he's not a man that he should change his mind."

³⁵ And Samuel did not see Saul again until the day of his death; for Samuel mourned for Saul. And the LORD grieved that he had made Saul king over Israel.

¹⁶ As the angel was stretching out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD was grieved because of the calamity, so he told the angel who was afflicting the people, "Enough! Stay your hand!" So the angel of the Lord remained near the threshing floor that belonged to Araunah the Jebusite.

¹⁵ And God sent an angel to Jerusalem to destroy it, and as he was about to destroy it, the LORD saw and was grieved on account of the calamity. Then he said to the angel, the destroyer, "It is enough; slacken your hand." And the angel of the LORD was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.

⁴⁰ How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and vexed him in the wasteland!

¹³ O that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways!

¹⁰ For forty years I was disgusted with this generation; and I said, They are a people who err in heart; and, They do not know My ways,

⁴⁵ he remembered his covenant and according to the multitude of his mercies;

⁴ The LORD has sworn, and will not change his mind: "You are a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek."

¹⁵⁸ I look at the faithless with loathing, because they do not observe your word.

¹⁸ Oh that you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

⁸ But if that nation about which I spoke turns from its evil way, I'll change my mind about the disaster that I had planned for it. ⁹ At another moment I may speak about a nation or kingdom to build it or plant it. ¹⁰ But if it does evil in my sight, to not listen to my voice, then I will relent concerning the good that I said I would do to it.

¹⁹ "Did Hezekiah king of Judah or anyone in Judah kill him? Didn't he fear the LORD and seek the LORD's favor, and so the LORD changed his mind about the disaster that he had spoken to them about. We're bringing great disaster on ourselves.

¹¹ Say to them: '"As I am alive!" Declares the Sovereign LORD. "I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Only that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back! Turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you die, O house of Israel?"'

⁸ "How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I treat you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is changed within me. All my compassion is aroused.

¹³ Tear your heart, and not your garments, and turn to the LORD, your God; for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness, and relents from sending calamity.

¹⁰ And when God saw their works, how they turned from their wicked ways, he repented on the evil which he said he would do unto them, and did it not.

⁶ For I, the LORD, do not change. Therefore you, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.

⁴¹ As Jesus approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it ⁴² and said, “If only you had known on this day what would bring you peace! But now it is hidden from your eyes.

²⁹ For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable.

³⁰ And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

¹⁰ Therefore I was angry with that generation, and I said, ‘Their hearts always go astray, and they have not known My ways.’

¹⁷ And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the wilderness?

¹⁷ So when God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of the promise, He guaranteed it with an oath. ¹⁸ Thus by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be strongly encouraged.

¹⁷ Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.

¹ A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD's, and the fullness of it; the world, and those who live in it. ² for he founded it on the seas and established it on the rivers.

²⁰ But the wicked shall perish. The enemies of Yahweh shall be like the beauty of the fields. They will vanish— vanish like smoke.

²⁷ The fear of the LORD adds life, but the years of the wicked are shortened.

⁴ The LORD has made everything for its own end—yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.

²² “For my people are foolish. They don’t know me. They are foolish children, and they have no understanding. They are skillful in doing evil, but they don’t know how to do good.” ²³ I looked at the earth, and it was formless and void, at the heavens, and there was no light there. ²⁴ I looked on the mountains, and, lo, they quaked; and all the hills were shaken. ²⁵ I see that there are no people, and every bird has flown away. ²⁶ I looked, and the fruitful land had become a desert. All its towns were broken down because of the LORD, because of his burning anger. ²⁷ the LORD says: "The whole earth will be ruined, although I will not entirely destroy it.

³ You know me, LORD. You see me and test my thoughts toward you. Pull the wicked out like sheep for slaughter; set them apart for the day of butchering. ⁴ How long shall the land be parched, and the grass of every field wither? For the wickedness of those who dwell in it, the animals are consumed, and the birds; because they said, "He shall not see our latter end."

³ Therefore the land mourns, and all those living in it languish with the animals of the field, and the birds of the heaven, and even the fish of the sea are being swept away.

³ I will sweep away man and animal. I will sweep away the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and the heaps of rubble with the wicked. I will cut off man from the surface of the earth, says the LORD.

²⁰ Therefore no flesh will be justified in his sight by works of the law, for through the law comes knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now the righteousness of God apart from the law has been revealed, being witnessed to by the Law and the Prophets, ²² And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction,

¹⁹ Behold, your servant has found favor in your eyes and you have shown me great kindness in saving my life. But I cannot flee to the mountains, lest the disaster overtake me and I die.

¹² Moses said to the LORD, "Look, you have told me, 'Bring up this people,' but you haven't let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, 'I know you by name,' and also, 'You have found favor in my sight.' ¹³ Now, if I've found favor in your sight, please show me your ways so I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. And remember, this nation is your people." ¹⁴ He said, "My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest." ¹⁵ Then Moses said to the LORD, "If your presence does not go with us, don't bring us up from here. ¹⁶ For how is it known here that I and your people find charism in your eyes? Is it not in that you go with us? And we are distinguished, I and your people, from all the people on the face of the earth. ¹⁷ The LORD said to Moses, "I'll do the very thing that you have said, because you have found favor in my sight and I know you by name."

¹¹ For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.

²⁰ the LORD watches over all those who love Him; but all the wicked He will destroy.

⁴ So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

³⁵ For whoever finds me, finds life, and will obtain favor from the LORD.

² A good man shall obtain favor from the LORD, but he will condemn a man of wicked plans.

² This is what the LORD says: "The people who survived the sword, found favor in the desert while Israel was seeking rest.

³⁰ And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.

¹⁸ May the Lord grant that he will find mercy from the Lord on that day. You know very well in how many ways he ministered to me at Ephesus.

¹¹ For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

⁷ so that having been justified by His grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

¹⁶ Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

¹ This is the written genealogy of Adam. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.

²² After he became the father of Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years and had other sons and daughters.

²⁴ Enoch walked with God. Then he was no more, because God took (moved) him away.

¹ the LORD said to Noah: "Go into the ark, you and your whole family. For I have found you righteous in this generation.

¹ This is the genealogy of Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah's sons, who also had sons after the flood.

¹ Abram was ninety-nine years old. the LORD appeared to him and said: "I am God Almighty. Walk before me and be blameless.

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said: 'The God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who hath been my shepherd all my life long unto this day,

¹ There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God, and turned away from evil.

⁸ The LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant, Job? For there is none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright man, one who fears God, and turns away from evil."

⁴ "I have become a laughingstock to my friends! I called upon God and he answered. Yet I am a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless!

³⁷ Observe the blameless, and see the upright, for there is a future for the man of peace.

¹⁸ The path of the righteous is like the light of dawn that grows brighter until the full light of day.

²⁰ Surely there is not a righteous man on earth, who does good and doesn't sin.

¹⁴ though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they would save only their own lives by their righteousness, says the Sovereign LORD.

²⁰ though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, says the Sovereign LORD, they would save neither son nor daughter; they would save only their own lives by their righteousness.

⁴ Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.

⁶ They were both upright in the sight of God, blamelessly observing all the Lord's commands and requirements.

²⁵ Now there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

⁵⁰ Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the council, a good and upright man,

⁷ By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in godly fear built an ark to save his family. By faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.

⁵ you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

³² After Noah was five hundred years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

⁹ He was a mighty hunter before the LORD. That is why it is said: "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD."

²⁷ "Because your heart was sensitive, and you humbled yourself before God when you heard what he had to say about this place and its inhabitants indeed, because you humbled yourself before me, tore your clothes, and cried out to me, I have heard you," declares the LORD.

⁵ The LORD examines the righteous, but the wicked and the one who loves violence his soul hates.

⁹ Confuse them, Lord, and confound their language, for I have seen violence and strife in the city.

¹¹ Let not the slanderer become established in the land. May evil quickly hunt down the violent man.

¹⁸ Violence will no more be heard in your land, desolation nor destruction within your borders, but you will call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.

⁷ "As a well pours out its water, so Jerusalem pours out her wickedness. Violence and destruction are heard in her. Sickness and wounds are ever before me.

¹⁷ And he said to me, "Have you seen, son of man? Was it too small a thing for the house of Judah to do the detestable things that they did here? For they filled up the land with violence, and they provoked me to anger again, and look! They are putting the branch to their nose.

¹⁶ By the multitude of your trade, they filled your midst with violence, and you sinned. So I cast you defiled from the height of God, and I destroyed you, O covering cherub, from among the stones of fire.

¹ Hear the word of the LORD, O children of Israel, for the LORD has an indictment against the inhabitants of the land. There is no faithfulness or loyalty, there is no knowledge of God in the land. ² There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.

² How long, O LORD (YHWH), will I call for help and you do not hear? I cry out to you, save me from violence! And yet you do not save.

⁸ Because you have plundered many nations, all the nations that are left shall plunder you, because of the blood of men, and the sins of the land and city, and of all that dwell in it.

¹⁷ Indeed, the violence done to Lebanon will overtake you, and the destruction of the beasts will terrorize you because you shed human blood and did violence to the land, to the city, and to all who live in it.

¹³ For it is not merely those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight. No, it is those who follow the law, who will be justified.

¹⁹ Now we know that whatever the Law says, it says to those who are under the Law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.

⁴ The NEPHILIM were on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God had sexual intercourse with the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. ⁵ the LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become. Every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.

⁸ But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.

²¹ Every living thing that moved on the earth perished: birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind.

¹² God said: "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:

¹⁶ "Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the long lasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." ¹⁷ And God said unto Noah, This is the sign of the covenant which have established, between me and all flesh that is on the earth.

²¹ I will go down now, and see whether their deeds are as bad as the reports which have come to me. If not, I will know.

¹⁵ Do you keep to the old way which evil men have trod? ¹⁶ "They were snatched away before their time. Their foundation is washed away by flood. ¹⁷ "They said to God: 'Leave us alone.' They asked: 'What can the Almighty do to us?'

²⁷ "He comes to men and says: 'I sinned, and perverted what was right, but I did not get what I deserved.'

¹ For the music director. Of David. The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt. They do abominable deeds. There is none who does good. ² the LORD looked down from Heaven on the sons of men, to see if there were any who understood and sought God. ³ They have all gone aside. They have together become corrupt. There is no one who does good, no, not one.

¹³ From heaven the LORD looks; he sees all the children of humankind. ¹⁴ From His dwelling place He looks on all the people of the earth.

² God looked down from heaven upon the sons of men, to see if there were any who understood, who seek after God. ³ Every one of them is gone back, they are together become corrupt: there is none that doeth good, not even one.

³ The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

⁶ And all mankind will see God’s salvation.”

¹¹ The earth was corrupt in God's sight. It was full of violence. ¹² God saw how corrupt the earth had become. All the people on earth had corrupted their ways.

²³ Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out. Men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

⁵ "Simeon and Levi are brothers. Their swords are weapons of violence.

²³ I looked at the earth, and it was formless and void, at the heavens, and there was no light there. ²⁴ I looked on the mountains, and, lo, they quaked; and all the hills were shaken. ²⁵ I see that there are no people, and every bird has flown away. ²⁶ I looked, and the fruitful land had become a desert. All its towns were broken down because of the LORD, because of his burning anger. ²⁷ the LORD says: "The whole earth will be ruined, although I will not entirely destroy it. ²⁸ For this the earth will mourn and the heavens above be black, because I have spoken it, I have purposed it and I have not relented, nor will I turn back from it.

¹³ O you who live by many waters, rich in treasures, your end has come, the measure of your unjust gain.

² "Son of man, the Sovereign LORD says to the land of Israel: 'The end! The end has come upon the four corners of the land. ³ '"The end is now upon you and I will unleash my anger against you. I will judge you according to your conduct and repay you for all your detestable practices. ⁴ '"I will not look on you with pity or spare you. I will repay you for your conduct and the detestable practices among you. THEN YOU WILL KNOW THAT I AM the LORD.' ⁵ "The Sovereign LORD says: 'Disaster! An unheard-of disaster is coming. ⁶ '"The end has come! The end has come! It has become active against you. It has come!

² He said: "Amos, what do you see?" And I said, "A basket of summer fruit." Then the LORD said to me: "The end has come to my people Israel. I will spare them no longer.

⁷ The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and sober, so you can pray.

⁶ By water the then-existing world was deluged and destroyed, ⁷ But by the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be dissolved in the fire, and the earth and its works will not be found. ¹¹ Since everything will be dissolved in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to conduct yourselves in holiness and godliness ¹² as you anticipate and hasten the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will be dissolved by fire and the elements will melt in the heat.

³ But when she could no longer hide him, she got a papyrus basket for him, and she coated it with tar and with pitch, and she placed the boy in it, and she placed it among the reeds on the bank of the Nile.

³⁸ For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark.

²⁷ People were eating and drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.

²⁰ who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah, while the ark was being built. In the ark a few people, only eight souls, were saved through water.

²⁰ The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than twenty feet.

¹⁶ The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, just as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in.

⁶ After forty days Noah opened the window he constructed in the ark.

¹⁶ And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.

³⁰ ¶ And Jehu came to Jezreel, and when Jezebel heard of it, she painted her face and tired her head and looked out of a window.

¹⁶ the thresholds, and the latticed windows, and the galleries all around, their three stories opposite the threshold, were paneled with wood all around, and from the ground up to the windows, and the windows were covered

³ Opposite the twenty cubits of the inner courtyard, and opposite the pavement that was to the outer courtyard was a gallery facing a gallery in the three stories.

²⁵ After the master of the house gets up and shuts the door, you will stand outside knocking and saying, ‘Lord, open the door for us.’ But he will reply, ‘I do not know where you are from.’

⁷ the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life. The man became a living being.

⁷ So the LORD said: "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth. All of them: men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air. I am sorry that I created them."

¹³ God said to Noah: "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am going to destroy them with the earth.

⁴ "Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights. I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made."

¹⁵ Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark.

¹⁷ The flood came upon the earth for forty days. As the waters increased, they lifted the ark high above the earth.

²¹ Every living thing that moved on the earth perished: birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. ²² Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. ²³ Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out. ⁹ "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you

¹⁷ "I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. I will be honored through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.

²⁸ then I will go against you in hostile anger, and also I myself will discipline you seven times for your sins.

³⁹ See, now, that I, even I am he, and there is not a god besides me; I put to death and I give life; I wound and I heal; there is not one who delivers from my hand!

¹⁶ "They were snatched away before their time. Their foundation is washed away by flood.

¹⁰ the LORD sat enthroned over the flood. the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.

³ The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their pounding waves. ⁴ Mightier than the rumblings of many waters, mightier than the mighty breakers of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty.

³⁴ and a fruitful land into a salt waste because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it.

¹² "I, even I, am the one who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men? The sons of men are like grass!

⁹ "To me this is like the days of Noah, when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth. So now I have sworn not to be angry with you, never to rebuke you again.

⁸ therefore the Sovereign LORD says: 'Behold, I, even I, am against you; and I will execute judgments among you in the sight of the nations.

³ and say, You mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Sovereign LORD: Thus says the Sovereign LORD to the mountains and to the hills, to the rivers and to the valleys: Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword on you, and I will destroy your high places.

¹¹ For so says the Sovereign LORD: Behold, I Myself will search for My sheep and seek them out.

²⁰ Therefore thus says the Sovereign LORD to them: Behold, I, even I, will judge between the fat sheep and the lean sheep.

¹⁴ For, I, will be as a lion unto Ephraim, and as a young lion to the house of Judah,—I, I, will tear in pieces, and depart, I will carry off, and none be able to rescue.

⁶ He who builds his chambers in the heavens and has founded his vault upon the earth, he who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out upon the face of the earth, the LORD is his name.

³⁹ and knew nothing about it until the Flood came and swept them all away, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man.

¹² Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, so also death was passed on to all men, because all sinned. ¹³ (for until law sin was in [the] world; but sin is not put to account when there is no law; ¹⁴ Nevertheless, death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who did not sin in the way that Adam transgressed. He is a pattern of the One to come.

²¹ so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness, to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

²³ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁰ For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but by the will of him who subjected it in hope; ²¹ that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God. ²² We know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until the present time.

⁷ Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood.

¹³ Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark.

⁹ "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you ¹⁰ "and with every living creature that was with you, the birds, the livestock, and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you, every living creature on earth. ¹¹ I am establishing my covenant with you, that never again will all flesh be cut off by the waters of a flood, nor will there ever be a flood that destroys the earth." ¹² God said: "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: ¹³ I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it will be a sign of a covenant between me and the earth. ¹⁴ "Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, ¹⁵ "I will remember my covenant with you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters flood to destroy all life. ¹⁶ "Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the long lasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth."

⁴ »This is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations.

⁷ "I will establish my covenant as a long lasting covenant between us. It will be for your descendants after you, for the generations to come. I will be your God and the God of your descendants after you.

²¹ "But my covenant I will establish with Isaac. Sarah will bear him to you by this time next year."

²⁰ Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you. Hide yourselves for a little while until his rage has passed by.

² "Take with you seven of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and two of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate. ³ "Also take seven of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.

⁸ Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, ⁹ male and female came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.

¹⁵ Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. ¹⁶ The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, just as God had commanded Noah. Then the LORD shut him in.

¹⁷ "Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you, the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground. They will multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it."

⁶ Your righteousness is like the great mountains; your judgments are a great deep: O LORD, you preserve man and beast.

²⁰ God said, “Let the waters abound with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of the sky.” ²¹ And God created the great whales, and every living and moving creature, which the waters brought forth, according to their kinds, and every winged fowl according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. ²² God blessed them and said: "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." ²³ And there was evening and there was morning, the fifth day. ²⁴ God said: "Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind." It was so.

¹⁹ Then the LORD God formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to let him name them. Whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

⁸ Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, ⁹ male and female came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. ¹⁰ After the seven days, the floodwaters came on the earth. ¹¹ In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, on the seventeenth day of the second month, on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. ¹² Rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. ¹³ Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. ¹⁴ They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings.

⁴⁰ yet you refuse to come to Me to have life.

¹¹ He saw heaven open and something like a large sheet being let down to earth by its four corners. ¹² It contained all kinds of four-footed animals and reptiles of the earth, as well as birds of the air.

²⁹ Then God said: "I give you every plant that bears seed on the face of the entire earth. I also give you every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. ³⁰ "Also every beast of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground; everything that has the breath of life in it, I give every green plant for food." It was so.

⁴¹ "Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?

²⁰ "The hills bring him their produce. All the wild animals play nearby.

⁶ Let their way be dark and slippery, with the angel of the LORD pursuing them.

²⁷ They all wait for you to give them their food at the proper time. ²⁸ You give to them; they gather. You open your hand; they are satisfied with good.

²⁵ who gives food to every creature; for His grace endures forever.

¹⁶ You open your hand, and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

⁹ He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.

²⁶ Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

⁵ Noah did all that the LORD commanded him.

⁹ male and female came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.

²³ On that very day Abraham took his son Ishmael and all those born in his household or bought with his money, every male in his household, and circumcised them, as God told him.

¹⁶ Moses did everything just as the LORD commanded.

¹⁹ And he spread out the tent over the tabernacle, and put the covering of the tent over it; as the LORD commanded Moses.

²¹ and he brought the ark into the tabernacle and set up the veil of the curtain and covered the ark of the testimony, as the LORD commanded Moses.

²³ He set the bread in order on it before the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses.

²⁵ and set up the lamps before the LORD: as the LORD commanded Moses.

²⁷ And he burnt sweet incense on it; as the LORD commanded Moses.

³² They washed when they went into the tent of meeting and when they came near to the altar, as the LORD commanded Moses.

³² »Be careful to do what I command you. Do not add to it nor take away from it.

²⁴ "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. ²⁵ The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock. ²⁶ But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. ²⁷ The rain came down, the floods rose, the winds blew and beat upon that house, and down it fell — with a mighty crash."

⁵ His mother said to the servants, Do whatever he tells you.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do what I command you.

By faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith. ⁸ By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.

³ For this is the love of God, our keeping his commands. And his commands are not burden-some, ⁴ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.
