¹² In the city is left desolation, and the gate is smitten with destruction.

¹⁴ Because the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for caves forever, a joy of wild donkeys, a pasture of flocks;

¹¹ And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant."

¹ How the city that was full of people sits solitary! How she has become like a widow! She who was great among the nations, and princess among the provinces, how she has become tribute payer!

⁴ The roads of Zion mourn, because no one comes to the solemn feasts: All her gates are desolate: Her priests sigh, her virgins are afflicted, and she is in bitterness.

⁹ Her gates are sunk into the ground; He has destroyed and broken her bars: Her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: The law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.

¹⁸ Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk on it.

⁹ For her wound is incurable; for it has come to Judah; it has come to the gate of My people, even to Jerusalem.

¹² For the inhabitant of Maroth waited carefully for good: But evil came down from the LORD to the gate of Jerusalem.
