¹⁰ The city of confusion is broken down: Every house is shut up, that no man may come in.

⁹ Therefore the name of it is called Babel; because the LORD confounded the language of all the earth there: And from that place the LORD scattered them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

¹³ And thorns shall come up in her palaces, nettles and brambles in the fortresses of it: And it shall be a habitation of dragons, and a court for owls. ¹⁴ The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest. ¹⁵ There the great owl shall make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather under her shadow: There the vultures shall also be gathered, every one with her mate.

²⁵ "Behold, the days come", said the LORD, "that I will punish all those who are circumcised with the uncircumcised; ²⁶ egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all who are in the utmost corners, who dwell in the wilderness: For all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart."

⁴ And it came to pass, that when Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king's garden, by the gate between the two walls: And he went out the way of the plain.

⁴³ For the days shall come upon you, that your enemies shall cast a trench around you, surround you, and keep you in on every side,

²⁴ And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: And Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.

⁷ And when they have finished their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. ⁸ And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

⁵ And upon her forehead a name was written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. ⁶ And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: And when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

² And he cried out mightily with a strong voice, saying, "Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become the habitation of devils, and the prison-hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
