²⁹ For this I labour, striving according to his power, which works mightily within me.

²⁴ Strive to enter in at the narrow gate: for many, I say to you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

²⁰ So I aspired to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man's foundation:

³⁰ Now I urge you, brethren, for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that you strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

²⁵ And every man who competes is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown; but we an imperishable. ²⁶ Therefore, I do not run aimlessly; and I do not fight as one who beats the air: ²⁷ But I beat my body, and bring it into subjection: lest by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.

⁶ And there are various kinds of working, but it is the same God who works all of them in all men.

¹¹ But all these things are by one and the same Spirit, who distributes to every man as he wills.

¹⁰ But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than all of them: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

⁹ Therefore we labour, that whether at home or absent, we may please him.

⁵ In beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in sleeplessness, in hunger;

²³ Are they servants of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I am more so; in labours more abundant, in beatings beyond number, in prison more frequently, in danger of death often.

⁹ And he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, most gladly will I boast in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore, for Christ's sake, I take pleasure in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in distresses: for when I am weak, then I am strong.

³ Since you seek a proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is mighty among you.

¹⁹ And what is the incomparable greatness of his power toward us who believe. It is the working of his mighty power,

⁷ Of which I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the working of his power.

²⁰ Now to him who is able to do immeasurably beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,

²⁷ Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or am absent, I may hear of you, that you are standing fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

³⁰ Having the same conflict which you saw to be mine, and now hear to be mine still.

¹³ For it is God who works in you both to will and to do his good pleasure.

¹⁶ Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, nor laboured in vain.

¹ For I want you to know what a great struggle I have for you, and for those at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;

¹² Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, greets you, always labouring fervently for you in prayer, that you may stand firm and fully assured in all the will of God.

⁹ For you remember, brethren, our toil and hardship: we laboured night and day, because we did not want to burden any of you as we preached to you the gospel of God.

⁸ Nor did we eat any man's bread without paying; but with labour and toil we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you:

¹⁰ Therefore, I endure all things for the sake of the chosen, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with its eternal glory.

⁴ You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood in your striving against sin.

²¹ Equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in you that which is well-pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

³ And how you have persevered, and have endured for my name's sake, and have not grown weary.
