¹ The same nyght could not the king slepe, & he commaunded to bring the Chronicles & storyes: which when they were read before the kinge,

¹⁴ And Abraham called the name of the place, the Lorde wyll sea: wherfore it is a comen sayinge thys daye: in the mounte wyl the Lord be sene.

²⁶ And when Saul hearde that, he folowed after Dauid into the wyldernesse of Maon. And Saul and his men went on the one syde of the mountayne, and Dauid and his men on the other. And Dauid as a man amased, made hast to get from Saul, for Saul and his men had compased Dauid and hys men rounde about take them. ²⁷ But there came a messenger to Saul saying: Hast the & come, for the Philistines are come in, & roue the land.

²³ And when inquisicion was made, it was founde so. And they were bothe hanged on tre: and it was written in the Chronycles before the kinge.

⁸ yf I haue founde grace in the syght of the Kinge, & yf it please the kinge to geue me my petycion, and to fulfyll my request, then let the Kynge & Haman come to the bancket, that I shall prepare for them, and so wil I do to morow as the kynge hath sayde.

² As for al the worcke of his power and auctoryte, and the great worshippe of Mardocheus, whiche the kinge gaue him, beholde it is wrytten in the Chronicles of the Kinges of Media and Persia.

¹⁷ When the thyrstye & poore seke water and fynde none, and when their tonge is drye of thyrst: I geue it them sayth the Lorde. I the God of Israel forsake them not.

¹ In the seconde yeare of the raigne of Nabuchodonosor, had Nabuchodonosor a dreame, wherethorow his sprete was vexed, & hys slepe brake from him.

¹⁸ So the kinge wente into his palace, & kepte him sober al night, so that there was no table spred before him, neyther coulde he take any slepe.

¹⁶ But they that feare God, saye thus one to another: the Lord consydereth and heareth it. Yea, it is before him a memoriall boke, wryten for such as feare the Lorde, & remembre his name.

³³ O the deapnes of the abundaunte wysedome and knoweledge of God: howe vnsearcheable are his iudgementes, and hys wayes paste fyndynge out?
