²⁶ When Dauid came to Zikeleg, he sent of hys praye vnto the elders to Iuda and to hys frendes saying: se there a blessinge for you, of the spoyle of the enemies of the Lorde:

¹¹ wherfore receiue me to grace & take my blessinge that I haue brought the, for god hath geuen it me. And I haue inough of al thinges. And so he compelled him to take it.

²⁷ And now this blessing, whiche thine handmaide hath brought, let it be geuen vnto the young men that folowe my Lorde.

¹⁵ Then he turned agayn to the man of God and al hys company with him, and came and stode before him and sayde. Behold, I know that there is no God in all the worlde, but in Israel. And now I praye the take a blessynge of thy seruaunt.

¹ And these folowenge came to Dauid to Zikelag, whyle he yet kept hym selfe close for feare of Saul the sonne of Cis: and they were of the men that socoured the battell, ² wepened wyth boowes, and coulde handle stones, arowes and bow as well wyth the lefte hande as wyth the ryght, and were of Sauls brethren, euen of the trybe of Beniamin. ³ The chefest were Ahiezer and Ioas the sonnes of Samaah a Gobaonite, and Iaziel a Phalite, the sonnes of Azmoth. Baracah and Iehu of Anathoth. ⁴ And Isamaiah a Gabaonite as mightye as any of thyrtye and more myghtye to. And Ieremiah, Iehaziel, Iohanan and Iosabad of Gedor. ⁵ Eleusai, Ierimoth Baaliah Samariah and Saphatiah: Haraphites, ⁶ Elcanah, Iesiah, Azrael, Ioezer, Ioseboam of Karehim. ⁷ And Ioelah and Zabadiah the sonnes of Ieroham of Gedor. ⁸ And of the Gadites there separated them selues vnto Dauid when he kept an holde in the wildernesse, men of myghte and men apte for warre and coulde handle shylde & speare, whose faces were lyke the faces of Lyons, and they were therto as swifte as the Rooes of the mountaynes: ⁹ Ezer the fyrste, Obdiah the seconde, Eliab the thyrde, ¹⁰ Masmannan the fourthe Ieremiah the fyfte, ¹¹ Ethi the syxte, Eliel the seuenthe, ¹² Iohanam the eight, Elsabad the nynthe, ¹³ Ieremiah the tenthe, and Macahbanai the eleuenthe. ¹⁴ These were of the sonnes of Gad and were captaynes ouer the men of warre, the small ouer an hundred, and the greate ouer a thousande. ¹⁵ These are they that went ouer Iordan in the fyrste monethe, when he had fylled ouer all hys bancke. And they put to flight them of the valeye bothe of the East syde and also the Weste.

²⁷ Let them also be glad and reioyse, that fauoure my righteous dealynge: yea, let them saye alwaye: blessed be the lord, whiche hath pleasure in the prosperitie of hys seruaunt.

¹⁸ Thou art gone vp an hye, thou hast ledde captiuitie captiue, and receyued gyftes for men: Yea, euen for thyne enemyes, that they might dwell with the Lord God.

¹⁶ Liberalitye bryngeth a man to honoure and worship, and setteth him among great men. ¹⁷ The rightuous accuseth hym selfe firste of al, if his neyghbour come, he shal fynd him. ¹⁸ The lot pacifieth the variaunce, and parteth the mighty a sunder. ¹⁹ The vnitie of brethren is stronger then a castel, and they that hold together are like the barre of a palayce. ²⁰ A mans belly shalbe satisfied wyth the fruyte of hys owne mouthe, and wyth the increase of hys lyppes shall he be fylled. ²¹ Death & lyfe stand in the power of the tong, he that loueth it shal enioy the frute thereof. ²² Who so fyndeth a wyfe fyndeth a good thynge, and receyueth an wholsome benefyte of the Lord. ²³ The poore maketh supplicacyon & prayeth mekelye, but the ryche geueth a rough aunswere. ²⁴ A frende that delyteth in loue, doeth a man more frenshyppe, and stycketh faster vnto hym then a brother.

⁸ But the lyberall person ymagyneth honest thynges, and commeth vp with honestye.

⁵ Wherfore I thought it necessarye to exhorte the brethren, to come before hande vnto you, for to prepare your good blessyng promysed afore, that it myght be redye, so that it be a blessynge, and not a defraudynge.
