¹ And He also said to His disciples, There was a certain rich man who had a steward. And he was accused to him, that he had wasted his goods.

² And Abram said, Lord God, what will You give me, since I am going childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?

¹⁹ And they came near to the man over Joseph's house, and they talked with him at the door of the house,

¹ And David gathered to Jerusalem all the rulers of Israel, the rulers of the tribes, and the commanders of the divisions that ministered to the king by division, and the commanders over the thousands, and commanders over the hundreds, and the stewards over all the substance and possession of the king, and of his sons, with the eunuchs and the mighty ones, even to every mighty one of valor.

⁹ Also he who is slack in his work is brother to a great destroyer.

⁸ For she did not know that I gave her grain, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal.

²³ Therefore the kingdom of Heaven has been compared to a certain king who desired to make an accounting with his servants. ²⁴ And when he had begun to count, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.

¹⁴ For it is as if a man going abroad called his own servants and gave them his goods. ¹⁵ And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to each according to his ability. And he went abroad at once. ¹⁶ And going he who had received the five talents traded with them, and made another five talents. ¹⁷ And likewise he who had received two, he also gained another two. ¹⁸ But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the earth and hid his lord's silver. ¹⁹ After a long time the lord of those servants came and took account with them. ²⁰ And so he who had received five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, Lord, you delivered five talents to me. Behold, I have gained five talents above them. ²¹ His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord. ²² He also who had received two talents came and said, Lord, you delivered two talents to me. Behold, I have gained two other talents above them. ²³ His lord said to him, Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord. ²⁴ And he who had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew that you were a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter. ²⁵ And I was afraid and went and hid your talent in the earth. Lo, you have yours. ²⁶ His lord answered and said to him, Evil and slothful servant! You knew that I reaped where I did not sow, and gathered where I did not scatter, ²⁷ then you should have put my money to the exchangers, and coming I would have received my own with interest. ²⁸ Therefore take the talent from him and give it to him who has ten talents. ²⁹ For to everyone who has, more shall be given, and he will abound. But from him who has not, even that which he has shall be taken away from him. ³⁰ And throw the unprofitable servant into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

³ and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who ministered to Him of their possessions.

⁴² And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward whom his lord shall set over his houseservants, to give them their portion of food in season?

¹³ And not many days afterward, the younger son gathered all together and went away into a far country. And there he wasted his property, living dissolutely.

³⁰ But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your living with harlots, you have killed for him the fattened calf.

¹⁹ There was a certain rich man who was customarily clothed in purple and fine linen and making merry in luxury every day.

²⁰ And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is your mina, which I have kept in a handkerchief.

¹ So let a man think of us as ministers of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. ² And the rest, it is sought among stewards that one be found faithful.

⁷ For an overseer must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not full of passion, not given to wine, not quarrelsome, not greedy for ill gain;

³ You ask and receive not, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it upon your lusts.

¹⁰ each one as he received a gift, ministering it to yourselves as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
