⁵ And answering, Jesus said to them, With respect to your hardheartedness he wrote this command to you.

⁶ And you shall know that Jehovah your God is not giving you this good land, to possess it, for your righteousness; for you are a stiffnecked people.

²⁷ For I have known your rebellion and your stiff neck. Behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, you have been rebellious against Jehovah. And how much more after my death!

¹⁶ But they and our fathers seethed, and hardened their necks, and did not listen to Your commands. ¹⁷ And they refused to obey, and were not mindful of Your wonders which You did among them. But they hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a leader to return them to their bondage. But You are a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and did not forsake them.

²⁶ But they were disobedient, and rebelled against You, and cast Your law behind their backs. And they killed Your prophets who testified against them, to turn them to You. And they worked great blasphemies.

⁸ He said to them, In view of your hardheartedness, Moses allowed you to put away your wives. But from the beginning it was not so.

⁵¹ Oh stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and in the ears! You always fell against the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, you also did .

⁷ Because of this, even as the Holy Spirit says, "Today, if you hear His voice, ⁸ do not harden your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness, ⁹ there where your fathers tempted Me, testing Me, and saw My works forty years. ¹⁰ Because of this, I was angry with that generation and said, They always go astray in heart; and they did not know My ways;
