³⁴ And they will mock Him and will flog Him and will spit at Him, and will kill Him. And on the third day He will rise again.

¹⁰ They despise me, and they keep away from me; they do not spare spit from my face;

¹⁰ For You will not leave My soul in Sheol; You will not give Your Holy One to see corruption.

⁶ But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of mankind, and despised by the people. ⁷ All who see Me scornfully laugh at me; they open the lip; they shake the head, saying, ⁸ He rolled on Jehovah, let Him deliver Him; let Him rescue Him, since He delights in Him.

¹³ They opened their mouth on Me, like a lion ripping and roaring.

⁶ I gave My back to strikers, and My cheeks to pluckers; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

³ He is despised and abandoned of men, a Man of pains, and acquainted with sickness. And as it were hiding our faces from Him, He being despised, and we did not value Him.

² After two days He will bring us to life. In the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live before Him.

³⁹ But answering, He said to them, An evil and adulterous generation seeks a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet. ⁴⁰ And even as "Jonah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights," so shall the Son of man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. ²¹ From that time, Jesus began to show to His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go away to Jerusalem, and to suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and to be raised on the third day.

⁶⁷ Then they spat in His face, and beat Him with the fist, and some slapped Him,

²⁷ Then taking Jesus into the praetorium, the soldiers of the governor gathered all the cohort against Him. ²⁸ And stripping Him, they put a scarlet cloak around Him. ²⁹ And plaiting a crown of thorns, they placed it on His head, and a reed in His right hand . And bowing the knee before Him, they mocked at Him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews. ³⁰ And spitting at Him, they took the reed and struck at His head. ³¹ And when they had mocked Him, they stripped off His cloak, and they put His garments on Him and led Him away to crucify Him . ³² And going out, they found a man, a Cyrenean, named Simon. They forced this one to bear His cross. ³³ And coming to a place called Golgotha, which is called, Place of a Skull, ³⁴ they gave Him vinegar mingled with gall to drink. And having tasted, He would not drink. ³⁵ And having crucified Him, they divided His garments, casting a lot, that might be fulfilled that spoken by the prophet, "They divided My garments to themselves, and they cast a lot over My clothing." Psa. 22:18 ³⁶ And sitting down, they guarded Him there. ³⁷ And they put up over His head His charge, it having been written: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. ³⁸ Then two robbers were crucified with Him, one off the right, and one off the left of Him . ³⁹ But those passing by, blasphemed Him, shaking their heads, ⁴⁰ and saying, You destroying the Holy Place and building it in three days, if you are the Son of God, come down from the cross. ⁴¹ And in the same way, the chief priests with the scribes and elders, mocking, said, ⁴² He saved others; he is not able to save himself. If he is the king of Israel, let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted on God. Let Him rescue him now, if He desires him. For he said, I am Son of God. ⁴⁴ And also the robbers crucified with Him reviled Him, saying the same.

⁶³ And tearing his garments, the high priest said, Why do we still have need of witnesses?

⁶⁵ And some began to spit at Him, and to cover His face, and to beat Him with a fist, and to say to Him, Prophesy! And the under-officers struck Him with slaps.

¹⁷ And they put purple on Him, and they plaited and placed a crown of thorns on Him. ¹⁸ And they began to salute Him, Hail, king of the Jews! ¹⁹ And they struck His head with a reed, and spat at Him. And placing the knees, they bowed to Him. ²⁰ And when they had mocked Him, they took the purple off Him, and put His own garments on Him. And they led Him out, that they might crucify Him.

²⁹ And those passing by blasphemed Him, shaking their heads, and saying, Aha! You razing the temple, and in three days building it, ³⁰ save yourself and come down from the cross. ³¹ And also the chief priests and the scribes mocking to one another said the same, He saved others; he is not able to save himself.

⁶³ And the men who were holding Jesus mocked Him, beating Him . ⁶⁴ And blindfolding Him, they were striking His face and questioning Him, saying, Prophesy, who is the one stinging you? ⁶⁵ And blaspheming, many other things they said to Him.

¹¹ And having humiliated Him with his soldiery, and mocking Him by putting around Him luxurious clothing, Herod sent Him back to Pilate.

³⁵ And the people stood watching. And the rulers with them also scoffed, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if this one is the Christ, the elect of God. ³⁶ And coming near, the soldiers also mocked Him and were offering vinegar to Him, ³⁷ and saying, If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself. ³⁸ And also an inscription was written over Him, in Greek and Latin and Hebrew letters: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. ³⁹ And one of the hanged criminals blasphemed Him, saying, If you are the Christ, save yourself and us.

¹⁷ For the Law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ and he said to him, Every man first sets on the good wine, and when they have drunk freely, then the worse. You have kept the good wine until now.

² And having plaited a wreath out of thorns, the soldiers put it on His head. And they threw a purple mantle around Him, ³ and said, Hail, king of the Jews! And they gave Him blows with the palm.

⁴ and that He was buried, and that He was raised the third day, according to the Scriptures,
