³⁶ For before these days Theudas rose up, claiming himself to be somebody, to whom was joined a number of men, about four hundred, who was done away, and all, as many as obeyed him, were dispersed and came to nothing.

²⁴ For false christs and false prophets will rise up. And they will give great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

²⁶ Then if they say to you, Behold, He is in the wilderness; do not go out. Behold, He is in the inner rooms; do not believe.

⁹ But a certain man named Simon had long been conjuring in the city and amazing the nation of Samaria, claiming himself to be some great one.

³⁸ Then are you not the Egyptian who before these days caused a riot, and led four thousand men of the assassins out into the desert?

⁶ But from those seeming to be something (of what kind they were then does not matter to me; God does not accept the face of man), for those seeming important conferred nothing to me;

³ For if anyone thinks to be something, he deceives himself, being nothing.

³ Do not let anyone deceive you in any way, because that Day will not come unless first comes the falling away, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, ⁴ the one opposing and exalting himself over everything being called God, or object of worship, so as for him "to sit in the temple of God" as God, proclaiming that he himself is God. Dan. 11:36; Eze. 28:2 ⁵ Do you not remember that I told you these things, I yet being with you? ⁶ And now you know the thing holding back, for him to be revealed in his time. ⁷ For the mystery of lawlessness already is working, only he is holding back now, until it comes out of the midst.

² And many will follow their destructive ways, by whom the way of truth will be evil spoken of.

¹⁸ For speaking great swelling words of vanity, by the lusts of the flesh, by unbridled lusts, they allure those indeed escaping the ones living in error,

¹⁶ These are murmurers, complainers, having gone according to their lusts, and their mouth speaks proud things, admiring faces for the sake of gain.

³ And he carried me away into a desert, by the Spirit. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast, filled with names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

⁵ And on her forehead was a name having been written: Mystery, Babylon the Great, the Mother of the Harlots and of the Abominations of the Earth.
