² Are there not mockers with me? and does not my eye continue in their provocation?

⁶ And her adversary also provoked her severely to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb. ⁷ And as year by year, when she went up to the house of the LORD, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

⁴ I am as one mocked of his neighbor, who calls upon God, and he answers him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

⁹ Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocks another, do you so mock him?

²⁰ My friends scorn me: but my eye pours out tears unto God.

³ Bear with me that I may speak; and after that I have spoken, mock on.

¹³ His soul shall dwell at ease; and his descendants shall inherit the earth.

¹⁴ I behaved myself as though he had been my friend or brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourns for his mother. ¹⁵ But in my adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea, the attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it not; they did tear me, and ceased not: ¹⁶ With hypocritical mockers at feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.

¹ He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

³⁹ And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, ⁴⁰ And saying, You that destroy the temple, and build it in three days, save yourself. If you be the Son of God, come down from the cross. ⁴¹ Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, saying, ⁴² He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. ⁴³ He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. ⁴⁴ The thieves also, who were crucified with him, reviled him the same way.
