But if you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you. ⁴ Yet you have a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy. ⁵ He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels. ⁶ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' ⁷ "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: 'These are the words of him who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens: ⁸ I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word, and have not denied my name. ⁹ Behold, I will make those of the synagogue of Satan who say that they are Jews and are not, but lielook, I will make them come and bow down before your feet, and know that I have loved you. ¹⁰ Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. ¹¹ I am coming soon; hold fast to what you have, so that no one may take your crown. ¹² He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall never go out of it. And I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God. And I will write on him my new name. ¹³ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' ¹⁴ "And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation: ¹⁵ I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot! ¹⁶ So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of my mouth. ¹⁷ You say, "I am rich; I have become wealthy, and have need of nothing"and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked, ¹⁸ Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments to clothe you, and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see. ¹⁹ Those whom I love, I rebuke and chasten. So be zealous and repent. ²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any one hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. ²¹ To him who overcomes, I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne. ²² He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'"

²⁴ for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry.

³² It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for this your brother was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.'"

¹⁶ And from his fullness have we all received, grace upon grace.

³³ I did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, 'He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.'

³⁴ For he whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God gives the Spirit without measure.

³⁷ On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. ³⁸ He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." ³⁹ Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive; for as yet the Spirit had not been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

²⁶ "But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify of me. ²⁷ And you also will bear witness, because you have been with me from the beginning.

²² And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.

³³ Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this which you see and hear.

¹ And you were dead in your trespasses and sins,

⁵ even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved),

¹³ When you were dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our sins,

⁶ But she who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives.

²⁶ For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

¹¹ seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. ¹² These are the men who are blemishes in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, uprooted;

⁴ John, to the seven churches which are in Asia: grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne,

¹¹ saying, "Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea."

¹⁶ he held in his right hand seven stars, out of his mouth went a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in its strength.

²⁰ The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

⁹ I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and I know the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

¹³ I know your works, and where you dwell, where Satan's throne is. And you hold fast to my name, and did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.

¹⁹ I know your works, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that your works are now more than at the first.

⁵ From the throne come flashes of lightning, and voices and peals of thunder. And before the throne were seven lamps of fire, which are the seven spirits of God;

⁶ And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders, I saw a Lamb standing, as if it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.

² "Thus, when you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. ³ But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, ⁴ so that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

⁵ But they do all their works to be seen by men; for they make their phylacteries broad and the tassels of their garments long.

²⁸ Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. ²⁹ "Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, ³⁰ And you say, 'If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.' ³¹ Thus you witness against yourselves, that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. ³² Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers' guilt. ³³ You serpents! You brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell? ³⁴ Therefore I send you prophets and wise men and scribes. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and some you will scourge in your synagogues and persecute from town to town, ³⁵ that on you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Truly, I say to you, all this will come upon this generation. ³⁷ "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those who are sent to you! How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! ³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate.

⁴² Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. ⁴³ But know this, that if the owner of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into. ⁴⁴ Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. ⁴⁵ "Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? ⁴⁶ Blessed is that servant whom his master when he comes will find so doing. ⁴⁷ Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions. ⁴⁸ But if that servant is wicked and says to himself, 'My master is staying away a long time,' ⁴⁹ and he then begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, ⁵⁰ the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of, ⁵¹ and he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

¹³ Therefore keep watch, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

³³ Take heed, watch; for you do not know when the time will come. ³⁴ It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to be on the watch. ³⁵ Watch thereforefor you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning ³⁶ lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!"

³¹ "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has asked to have you, that he might sift you as wheat. ³² But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren."

²³ After spending some time there, he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

²⁸ Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he purchased with the blood of his Own. ²⁹ I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; ³⁰ and from among your own selves will arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. ³¹ Therefore be alert, remembering that for three years I did not cease night and day to admonish each one with tears.

¹ I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: ² preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and exhort, with great patience and instruction. ³ For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, ⁴ and will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.

⁷ The end of all things is near; therefore be clear minded and sober for your prayers.

⁸ Be sober, be alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

⁴ But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

¹⁵ ("Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is he who stays awake and keeps his clothes with him, so that he may not go naked and be shamefully exposed.")

⁴² Watch therefore, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. ⁴³ But know this, that if the owner of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched and would not have let his house be broken into.

³³ Take heed, watch; for you do not know when the time will come.

³⁶ lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.

³⁹ But know this, that if the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have allowed his house to be broken into. ⁴⁰ Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

² For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.

⁴ But you, brethren, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. ⁵ For you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness. ⁶ So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us be alert and sober.

²⁰ O Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to you. Avoid godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge,

¹³ Follow the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.

¹ Therefore we must pay more careful attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.

¹³ I think it right, as long as I am in this body, to stir you up by way of reminder,

¹ This is now the second letter that I have written to you, beloved, and in both of them I have aroused your sincere mind by way of reminder;

¹⁰ But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with fire, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.

⁵ Remember then from where you have fallen, repent and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.

²¹ I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her immorality. ²² So I will cast her on a sickbed, and I will throw those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her ways.

²⁵ only hold fast what you have until I come.

¹¹ I am coming soon; hold fast to what you have, so that no one may take your crown.

¹⁹ Those whom I love, I rebuke and chasten. So be zealous and repent.

¹¹ Now whatever village or town you enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and stay there until you go out.

⁵ And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, dressed in a white robe; and they were alarmed.

³⁵ But those who are considered worthy to attain that age and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage,

³⁶ Watch at all times, and pray always that you may have strength to escape all these things that will take place, and to stand before the Son of Man."

¹⁵ In those days Peter stood up among the brethren (the company of persons was in all about a hundred and twenty), and said,

⁴ But what is God's reply to him? "I have reserved for myself seven thousand men who have not bowed the knee to Baal." ⁵ So too at the present time there is a remnant, chosen by grace. ⁶ And if it is by grace, then it is no longer on the basis of works; otherwise, grace would no longer be grace.

⁵ This is evidence of God's righteous judgment, so that you will be considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which indeed you are suffering.

²³ save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

⁵ He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

¹⁸ Therefore I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments to clothe you, and to keep the shame of your nakedness from being seen; and salve to anoint your eyes, that you may see.

⁴ Round the throne were twenty-four thrones, and seated on the thrones were twenty-four elders, clothed in white garments, and golden crowns on their heads.

¹¹ Then each of them were given a white robe, and they were told to rest a little longer, until the number of their fellow servants and their brethren should be completed, who were to be killed as they had been.

⁹ After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation and all tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands;

¹³ Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these, clothed in white robes, and where have they come from?" ¹⁴ I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great tribulation; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹³ And at that hour there was a great earthquake, and a tenth of the city fell; seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.

⁸ It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean"; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.

¹⁴ The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses, and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.

³² "Therefore whoever acknowledges me before men, him I will also acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven.

⁸ "I tell you, whoever acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God.

³ Yes, and I ask you also, true yoke-fellow, to help these women who have struggled at my side in the cause of the gospel, together with Clement also and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.

²⁴ Now to him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you without blemish before the presence of his glory with great joy,

⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.'

⁴ Yet you have a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy.

⁸ and all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain.

⁸ The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to come up out of the abyss and go to destruction. And those who dwell on the earth, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will wonder when they see the beast, because he was and is not and will come.

¹² And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.

¹⁵ And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.

²⁷ Nothing unclean shall enter it, nor any one who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

¹⁹ and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are described in this book.

¹⁹ I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

³⁵ Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

²⁴ saying, "Let us alone! What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? Did you come to destroy us? I know who you arethe Holy One of God!"

³² He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.

³⁴ "Ha! What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you arethe Holy One of God!"

⁶ Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

¹⁴ But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood,

¹⁸ and the Living One; I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore! And I have the keys of death and Hades.

¹ "To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: 'These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands:

¹⁴ "And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: 'These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God's creation:

⁸ And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to sing, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come."

³ And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it. ⁴ And I wept greatly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. ⁵ Then one of the elders said to me, "Weep not; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals."

⁹ And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals; for you were slain, and with your blood purchased men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.

¹⁰ they cried out with a loud voice, "O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?"

³ and they sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are your deeds, O Lord God the Almighty! Just and true are your ways, O King of the ages!

⁷ And I heard the altar saying, "Yes, O Lord God, the Almighty, true and just are your judgments."

² for his judgments are true and just; he has judged the great harlot who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and he has avenged on her the blood of his servants."

¹¹ Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war.

⁵ And he who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new." And he said, "Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true."

⁷⁰ But he denied it before them all, saying, "I do not know what you are talking about." ⁷¹ And when he went out to the gateway, another girl saw him and said to the people there, "This fellow was with Jesus of Nazareth." ⁷² But again he denied it with an oath, "I do not know the man!"

⁹ But he who denies me before men will be denied before the angels of God.

²¹ He who has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him." ²² Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?" ²³ Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. ²⁴ He who does not love me does not keep my words; and the word which you hear is not mine but the Father's who sent me.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

⁶ "I have manifested your name to the men whom you have given me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me, and they have kept your word.

¹³ The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus, the one whom you delivered and disowned in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. ¹⁴ But you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,

²⁷ When they arrived, they gathered the church together and declared all that God had done with them, and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.

⁹ for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.

¹² Now when I came to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and when a door was opened for me in the Lord,

⁸ Three times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should depart from me. ⁹ But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. ¹⁰ That is why, for Christ's sake, I am content in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹³ I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

³ And pray for us as well, that God may open a door to us for the word, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains,

⁸ If any one does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his own family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

²² Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. ²³ No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

⁴ For certain persons have crept in secretly, those who were long ago marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

² I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance. I know that you cannot bear evil men, but you have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and have found them to be false;

⁷ "And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: 'These are the words of him who is holy, who is true, who has the key of David, who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens:

¹⁰ Because you have kept my command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

⁷ "And behold, I am coming soon. Blessed is he who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book."

³⁷ But Paul said to them, "They have beaten us publicly, without trial, men who are Roman citizens, and have thrown us into prison; and do they now cast us out secretly? No! Let them come themselves and take us out." ³⁸ The police reported these words to the magistrates, and they were afraid when they heard that they were Roman citizens. ³⁹ So they came and apologized to them, and they took them out and asked them to leave the city.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.'

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

⁴¹ Watch and pray, so that you will not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

⁹ And truly, I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her."

¹ In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census should be taken of all the world.

⁸ First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world.

¹³ No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man. And God is faithful, who will not let you be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.

¹³ Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

¹² Can a fig tree, my brethren, produce olives, or a grapevine produce figs? Nor can salt water produce fresh.

¹² Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you.

⁹ then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trial, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgment,

⁹ I, John, your brother and companion in the tribulation and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus.

¹⁰ Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful even until death, and I will give you the crown of life.

¹³ Then I looked, and I heard an eagle flying in midheaven, saying with a loud voice, "Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the blasts of the other trumpets of the three angels who are about to sound!"

¹⁰ And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

¹⁰ If anyone is destined for captivity, to captivity he goes; if anyone kills with the sword, with the sword he must be killed. Here is the endurance and faith of the saints.

¹⁴ And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which he was given power to do in the presence of the beast. He ordered them to make an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

¹² Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.

²⁵ Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.

⁵ Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.

⁵ Also if anyone competes as an athlete, he does not win the prize unless he competes according to the rules.

⁸ In the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.

¹² Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, for when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

⁹ Do not grumble, brethren, against one another, that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.

³ not as lording it over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. ⁴ And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

³ Blessed is he who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it; for the time is near.

³ Remember therefore what you have received and heard; keep it, and repent. But if you will not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come upon you.

¹⁰ the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

¹² "Behold, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me, to render to every man according to what he has done.

²⁰ He who testifies to these things says, "Yes, I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.

⁹ and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, James and Cephas and John, who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles and they to the circumcised.

²⁶ But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother. ²⁷ For it is written, "Rejoice, O barren woman who does not bear; break forth and shout, you who are not in labor; for the children of the desolate are more numerous than the children of her who has a husband."

¹⁵ from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,

²² But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the joyful assembly

¹³ I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. ¹⁴ I wrote to you, little children, because you have known the Father. I wrote to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I wrote to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

⁴ You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

¹⁷ He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna. And I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone which no one knows except him who receives it.'

¹ Then I looked, and behold, the Lamb was standing on Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads.

¹⁴ These will make war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those who are with him are the called and chosen and faithful."

² And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

¹⁰ And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, ¹¹ having the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. ¹² It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. ¹³ There were three gates on the east, three gates on the north, three gates on the south, and three gates on the west. ¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. ¹⁵ The one who talked with me had a gold measuring rod to measure the city, and its gates and its walls. ¹⁶ The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; and he measured the city with the rod, twelve thousand stadia; its length and width and height are equal. ¹⁷ He also measured its wall, a hundred and forty-four cubits by a man's measure, which is also an angel's. ¹⁸ The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as clear as glass. ¹⁹ The foundations of the city wall were adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, ²⁰ the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass. ²² And I saw no temple in the city, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. ²³ And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. ²⁴ The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it. ²⁵ In the daytime (for there will be no night there) its gates will never be shut; ²⁶ they will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations. ²⁷ Nothing unclean shall enter it, nor any one who practices abomination or falsehood, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.

⁴ They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.

²⁰ For as many as are the promises of God, in him they are Yes. And so through him we speak our Amen to the glory of God.

¹⁵ He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

¹⁸ And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might have the first place in everything.

¹ For I want you to know how greatly I strive for you, and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not seen my face in the flesh,

¹⁶ When this letter has been read among you, have it also read in the church of the Laodiceans; and see that you read the letter from Laodicea.

⁶ Then he said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to the one who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life without cost.

⁶ And he said to me, "These words are trustworthy and true. And the Lord, the God of the spirits of the prophets, has sent his angel to show his servants the things which must soon take place."

¹³ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end."

²⁴ No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

³⁷ He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;

¹² And because wickedness will increase, the love of most will grow cold.

²⁷ And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. ²⁸ For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?

¹¹ Never be lacking in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serving the Lord.

²² If anyone does not love the Lordlet him be accursed. Come, O Lord!

²⁰ For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you what I wish you to be, and you may not find me what you wish me to be; I fear that there may be quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, factions, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

⁹ And this is my prayer, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment,

³ We ought to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, as is fitting, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.

⁸ being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

²² Since you have purified your souls by obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.

³ "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

¹² But when Jesus heard it, he said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away.

²⁴ But woe to you who are rich, for you have received your consolation.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, 'God, I thank you that I am not like other menextortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. ¹² I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.'

⁴⁰ Then some of the Pharisees who were with him heard this, and said to him, "Are we blind also?" ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no guilt; but now that you say, 'We see,' your sin remains.

¹⁷ But if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law and boast of your relation to God ¹⁸ and know his will and approve of what is excellent, because you are instructed in the law, ¹⁹ and if you are sure that you are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, ²⁰ an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of infants, having in the law the embodiment of knowledge and truth ²¹ you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal? ²² You who say that one must not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples? ²³ You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

²⁴ Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?

²⁰ That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast only by faith. So do not be proud, but stand in awe.

²⁵ I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers, so that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.

³ For by the grace given to me I say to every one among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith which God has assigned him.

⁸ You are already filled! You have already become rich! You have become kings without us! And indeed, I wish that you had become kings so that we also might reign with you. ⁹ For, I think that God has exhibited us apostles last of all, like men condemned to death; because we have become a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. ¹⁰ We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ; we are weak, but you are strong; you are distinguished, but we are without honor.

⁹ For whoever lacks these things is blind and shortsighted, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.

⁴⁴ "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and then in his joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.

⁹ But the wise replied, 'No, there may not be enough for both us and you; go rather to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.'

²¹ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God."

⁶ As he said this, he spat on the ground and made clay of the saliva, and anointed the man's eyes with the clay. ⁷ And he said to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means, Sent). So he went and washed, and came back seeing. ⁸ The neighbors and those who had seen him before as a beggar, said, "Is not this the man who used to sit and beg?" ⁹ Some said, "It is he." Others said, "No, but he is like him." He said, "I am the man." ¹⁰ They said to him, "Then how were your eyes opened?" ¹¹ He answered and said, "A man called Jesus made clay and anointed my eyes and said to me, 'Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.' So I went and washed, and I received sight."

¹² Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, ¹³ each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it, because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.

³ so that when we are clothed, we will not be found naked.

⁹ For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that through his poverty you might become rich.

¹⁸ Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, to be generous and ready to share,

⁵ Listen, my beloved brethren: has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those who love him?

⁷ so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

²⁰ But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all know. ²¹ I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. ²² Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. ²³ No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also. ²⁴ Let that abide in you which you heard from the beginning. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you also will abide in the Son and in the Father. ²⁵ And this is what he has promised useternal life. ²⁶ These things I have written to you about those who try to deceive you. ²⁷ But the anointing which you have received from him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as his anointing teaches you about all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, abide in him.

⁴ Yet you have a few names in Sardis, people who have not soiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white, for they are worthy. ⁵ He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.

¹⁷ You say, "I am rich; I have become wealthy, and have need of nothing"and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked,

¹³ Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these, clothed in white robes, and where have they come from?"

¹⁷ His disciples remembered that it was written, "Zeal for your house will consume me."

³² But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

⁹ as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as punished, and yet not killed;

¹¹ For behold what this very thing, godly sorrow, has produced in you: what earnestness, what eagerness to clear yourselves, what indignation, what alarm, what longing, what zeal, what readiness to see justice done! At every point you have proved yourselves to be innocent in this matter.

¹⁸ But it is always good to seek a good purpose, and not only when I am present with you.

¹⁴ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, zealous for good deeds.

⁵ And have you forgotten the exhortation which addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor lose courage when you are rebuked by him. ⁶ For those whom the Lord loves he disciplines, and he scourges every son whom he receives." ⁷ It is for discipline that you endure. God is treating you as sons; for what son is there whom his father does not discipline? ⁸ If you are left without discipline, in which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate children and not sons. ⁹ Besides this, we have had fathers of our flesh to discipline us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live? ¹⁰ For they disciplined us for a short time as seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. ¹¹ For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant; but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

³³ So also, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

³⁶ and be like men who are waiting for their master to return from the wedding feast, so that they may open to him immediately when he comes and knocks. ³⁷ Blessed are those servants whom the master finds watching when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit at table, and will come and serve them.

⁸ Will he not rather say to him, 'Prepare my supper, and gird yourself and serve me, till I eat and drink; and afterward you shall eat and drink'?

²¹ He who has my commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him." ²² Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, "Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and not to the world?" ²³ Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.

⁹ Then the angel said to me, "Write, 'Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.'" And he said to me, "These are true words of God."

²⁸ Jesus said to them, "Truly I say to you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

³⁰ so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²² For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, ²³ that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.

³³ I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage! I have overcome the world."

² Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you not competent to try trivial cases? ³ Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life!

²⁰ which he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, ²¹ far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. ²² And he put all things under his feet and gave him to be the head over all things for the church, ²³ which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

⁹ Therefore God also highly exalted him, and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. ¹² Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; ¹³ for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. ¹⁴ Do all things without grumbling or arguing, ¹⁵ so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, ¹⁶ holding fast the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. ¹⁷ But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. ¹⁸ So you too should be glad and rejoice with me. ¹⁹ I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news of you. ²⁰ I have no one else like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. ²¹ For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus.

¹² if we endure, we will also reign with him; if we deny him, he also will deny us;

⁴ For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the worldour faith. ⁵ Who is it that overcomes the world but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

⁶ and has made us a kingdom and priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

²⁶ He who overcomes, and keeps my works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations ²⁷ "He shall rule them with a rod of iron; as when potter's vessels are broken in pieces"

⁵ Then one of the elders said to me, "Weep not; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals." ⁶ And between the throne and the four living creatures and among the elders, I saw a Lamb standing, as if it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth. ⁷ And he came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. ⁸ And when he had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

² I looked, and behold, a white horse, and its rider had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.

¹⁷ For the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."

¹¹ They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives even to the death.

⁴ Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom judgment was given. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony to Jesus and because of the word of God, and who had not worshipped the beast or his image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life, and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
