¹ So Job answered and said: ² Truly, you are the people, And with you wisdom shall die!" ³ However, I have heart understanding as well as you; I am not falling behind you; For who is there not knowing such things as these? ⁴ As the sport of his associates am I becoming, Who was calling to Eloah, and He answered him, Made sport of, though righteous and flawless. ⁵ Contempt for misfortune is in the reflections of the self-satisfied, Readied for those of tottering feet. ⁶ The tents of devastators are at ease, And for those disturbing El there is serenity, For him who brings along an eloah in his hand. ⁷ Howbeit, ask, I pray, one of the beasts, and it shall direct you, And the flyer of the heavens, and it shall tell you, ⁸ Or importune to the earth, and it shall direct you, And the fish of the sea shall rehearse it to you. ⁹ Who among all these does not know That the hand of Eloah, it has done this? ¹⁰ In Whose hand is every living soul And the spirit in all flesh of man. ¹¹ Does not the ear test declarations As the palate tastes its food? ¹² Does wisdom come with being hoary-headed, And understanding with length of days? ¹³ With Him is wisdom and mastery; His are counsel and understanding. ¹⁴ Behold, He demolishes, and it shall not be rebuilt; He locks up a man, and it shall not be opened. ¹⁵ Behold, He restrains the waters, and they dry up, Or He sends them forth, and they overrun the earth. ¹⁶ With Him are strength and prosperity; Both the erring one and the one causing error are His. ¹⁷ Causing counselors to go forth looted, He also makes judges rave as fools. ¹⁸ He unlooses the disciplining authority of kings, And He binds a belt about their waists. ¹⁹ Causing priests to go forth looted, He also overthrows the well-established. ²⁰ Putting away the eloquence of the sure, He also takes away the discretion of elders. ²¹ Pouring out contempt on patrons, He also makes the cordon of the mighty repressors to slacken. ²² Exposing the deep things out of darkness, He also brings forth the blackest shadow to light. ²³ Making nations grow great, He also destroys them; Spreading out nations, He also guides them away. ²⁴ Putting away wisdom of heart from the heads of the people of the earth, He also makes them stray in a roadless waste. ²⁵ They grope in darkness with no light, And He makes them stray like a drunkard.

²⁴ Direct me, and I shall keep silent, And where I have erred, make me understand. ²⁵ How savory are words of uprightness, Yet how can correction from you be correcting?

⁸ For ask, I pray, of the former generation, And establish yourself in the investigations of their fathers. ⁹ For we are of yesterday, and we know nothing, For our days on the earth are but a shadow. ¹⁰ Shall they not direct you, apprise you And bring forth declarations from their heart?

² Shall this multitude of words not be answered? And should this man of glib lips be justified?

⁶ Then He would tell you obscured secrets of wisdom, For reality has double sides; Hence know this:that Eloah is granting you oblivion of some of your depravity.

¹² The hollow man shall become wise of heart Whenever the colt of an onager is born a human.

² Should a wise man answer with knowledge of wind? Or should he fill his belly with the hot east wind?

⁴ For You have secluded their heart from intelligence; Therefore, You shall not exalt them.

¹⁰ Howbeit, all of you, come forward again, I pray; Though I shall not find a wise man among you.

³ I am hearing admonition meant to confound me, And the spirit of my understanding makes me respond.

⁷ I said to myself, Let days speak, And many years make wisdom known. ⁸ But surely it is the spirit in a mortal, And the breath of Him Who Suffices that gives them understanding. ⁹ Seniors may not be wise Or elders understand judgment. ¹⁰ Wherefore I say, Do hear me; I shall disclose my knowledge, I also. ¹¹ Behold, I waited for your words; I listened for your understanding While you were sounding out declarations. ¹² I gave consideration to you, Yet behold, there was no correcting of Job Or answer to his arguments from you. ¹³ Beware lest you say, We have found wisdom; El Himself is our Mentor, not man.

¹¹ A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, Yet an understanding poor man shall investigate him."

²¹ Woe to those wise in their own eyes, and in front of their own face have understanding!"

¹⁰ We are stupid because of Christ, yet you are prudent in Christ. We are weak, yet you are strong. You are glorious, yet we are dishonored."

⁵ To abash you am I saying this. Thus is there not among you one wise man who will be able to adjudicate amidst his brethren, ⁶ Is insipid food being eaten without salt? Or is there taste in the ooze of purslane? ⁷ My soul refuses to touch them; They are like bread of sickness to me.

² Where you have knowledge, so also do I know; I am not falling behind you. ³ Howbeit, as for me, I would speak to Him Who Suffices, And to plead with El is what I desire. ⁴ Howbeit, you are smearing with falsehood, Useless healers are all of you. ⁵ O that you would keep silent, yea silent, That would be wisdom for you.

² How you have helped one without vigor And saved an arm without strength! ³ How you have counseled one without wisdom, And the reality of things you have abundantly made known!" ⁴ Do not answer a stupid man according to his folly, Lest you should become equal to him, even you."

⁵ For I am reckoning to be deficient in nothing pertaining to the paramount apostles.

²¹ By way of dishonor am I saying this, as that we are weakened. Now in whatever anyone is daring (in imprudence am I saying it), I also am daring. " ²² Hebrews are they? I also! Israelites are they? I also! The seed of Abraham are they? I also! ²³ Servants of Christ are they? (Being insane, I am speaking.) Above them am I! In weariness more exceedingly, in jails more exceedingly, in blows inordinatley, in deaths often. "

²⁹ Relent, I pray; let it not become iniquity, And relent further; my righteousness is at stake in it.

³ Shall your inventions turn men to silence? And shall you keep deriding while there is no one criticizing?

¹⁰ Men gape at me with their mouth; In reproach they smite my cheeks; They mass themselves together against me.

²⁰ My associates are my mockers; My eye weeps forth to Eloah,

² Assuredly, captious men are all around me, And my eye lodges all night upon their bitterness.

⁶ And he has put me down as a proverb to the people, So that I become one spit at to the face.

³ Bear with me while I am speaking, And after I have spoken, you may deride.

¹ Yet now they make sport of me, Men junior to me in days, Whose fathers I would have rejected To set with the dogs of my flock.

⁷ All those seeing me deride me; They open up their lip in sneering; They wag their head, saying, ⁸ He exults in Yahweh; let Him deliver him! Let Him rescue him, since He delights in him!"

¹⁶ With the pollutions of derisive derisions, They gnashed their teeth against me."

¹⁵ He shall call on Me, and I shall answer him; I am with him in distress; I shall liberate him and glorify him."

² He who walks in uprightness fears Yahweh, Yet he who deviates in his ways despises Him."

³ Call unto Me, and I do answer you, yea, I declare to you great and fenced things--you have not known them."

⁷ Yet I will watch in Yahweh. I will wait for the Elohim of my salvation. My Elohim will hear me.

²⁹ and, braiding a wreath out of thorns, they place it on His head, and a reed in His right hand, and, falling on their knees in front of Him, they scoff at Him, saying, "Rejoice, king of the Jews!"

⁴⁰ And they ridiculed Him. Yet He, ejecting them all, is taking along the father of the little girl and the mother and those with Him, and He is going in where the little girl was lying."

¹⁴ Now the Pharisees also, inherently fond of money, heard all these things, and they scouted Him."

³² Now, on hearing of the resurrection of the dead, these, indeed, jeered, yet those say, "We will hear you concerning this again also."

³⁶ Yet others got a trial of scoffings and scourgings, yet still more of bonds and jail."

³⁵ for the day of vengeance and repayment, for the season when their foot shall slip? For the day of their calamity is near, and impending doom hurries upon them.

⁵ Does an onager bray over verdure? Would a bull low over its fodder?

⁴ I myself also could speak like you; O that your soul were in the place of my soul:I would indeed join declarations together against you, And I would indeed wag my head over you.

⁵ Indeed the light of the wicked shall be extinguished, And the flare of his fire shall not brighten.

⁵ My movement is upheld in Your rounds; My footsteps shall slip no more.

¹⁸ If I say, My foot slips! Your benignity, O Yahweh, it is already bracing me."

³ Be gracious to us, O Yahweh, be gracious to us, For we are surfeited greatly with contempt." ⁴ For itself is our soul greatly surfeited With the derision of the self-satisfied, With the contempt of the proud."

⁹ The light of the righteous is radiant, Yet the lamp of the wicked is extinguished."

²⁰ He who maledicts his father and his mother, His lamp shall be extinguished at the approach of darkness."

¹⁶ Give you to Yahweh your Elohim honor, Before He does cause darkness, And before your feet stumble on dark mountains, And you have waited for light, And He has made it for death-shade, And has appointed [it] for thick darkness."

¹ Woe to the tranquil in Zion and those trusting in the mountain of Samaria!--The specified men of the first of the nations, and to them to whom the house of Israel comes." ² Pass to Calneh and see, and go thence to Hamath the great, and go down to Gath of the Philistines. Are you better than these kingdoms? Or is their boundary greater than your boundary? ³ You are those isolating the day of evil, yet you are bringing the seat of violence closer;" ⁴ those lying on couches of ivory, and who extend themselves on their divans, and are eating the butting lambs from the flock, and the calves from the midst of the stall;" ⁵ those twanging at the bidding of the zither, as David, they devise for themselves instruments of song;" ⁶ those drinking wine in sprinkling bowls, and who are anointing with the principal oils, yet are not ill over the breaking of Joseph."

⁸ Now the stupid said to the prudent, 'Give us of your oil, for our torches are going out.'"

¹⁹ And I will be declaring to my soul, "Soul, many good things have you laid up for many years. Rest, eat, drink, make merry."'"

¹⁹ Now a certain man was rich and he dressed in purple and cambric, daily making merry splendidly." ²⁰ Now there was a certain poor man named Lazarus, who had been cast at his portal, having ulcers,

²⁴ The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covers the faces of its judges; If not He, indeed who is it?

⁷ For what reason should the wicked live on? They develop and become masterful with potent power. ⁸ Their seed is established with them in their presence, And their offspring in front of their eyes. ⁹ Their houses remain in peace apart from alarm, And no club of Eloah is upon them. ¹⁰ Their bull passes semen and is never fruitless; Their young cow delivers and does not miscarry. ¹¹ They let their babes go forth like a flock, And their children are dancing. ¹² They lift up in song with tambourine and harp, And they rejoice to the sound of the shepherd's pipe. ¹³ They finish their days in good, And they settle down in a quiet moment to the unseen. ¹⁴ Yet they say to El, Go away from us, For we do not desire a knowledge of Your ways. ¹⁵ What is He Who Suffices that we should serve Him? And what benefit would we gain that we should make intercession to Him?

¹⁸ Yet He Himself had filled their houses with good; (Still the counsel of the wicked is far from me.)

¹⁴ From such men by Your hand, O Yahweh, From such men of transience; Their portion is in this life, And You fill their belly with what You have stored up; They are satisfied with sons, And they leave their surplus to their descendants."

³⁵ I have seen a wicked one, a terrifier, Elevating himself like a flourishing native tree."

¹¹ And they say, How can El know? And is there knowledge in the Supreme? ¹² Behold, these are the wicked! Even these at ease eonian, who make their estate huge."

²⁷ As a cage full of fowls, So their houses are full of deceit, Therefore they have been great, and are rich."

²⁹ Have you not asked those passing on the way, And do you not admit their evidence, ³⁰ That the evil one is kept back in the day of calamity; In the day of rage they are escorted safely?

⁶ Go to the ant, O slothful one; See its ways and be wise;"

³ The bull knows his owner, and the ass the crib of his possessors, yet Israel does not know Me, and My people do not consider Me."

⁷ Even a stork in the heavens has known her seasons, And turtle, and swallow, and crane, Have watched the time of their coming, And--My people have not known the judgment of Yahweh."

¹⁷ Guard yourself lest you say in your heart:My vigor and the staunchness of my hand make for me this great estate. ¹⁸ Yet you will remember Yahweh your Elohim, for He is the One giving to you the vigor to make this estate, that He may confirm His covenant that He had sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob, as in this day.

⁷ Yahweh dispossesses, and He makes rich, He makes low, yea, He makes high.

³ However, I have heart understanding as well as you; I am not falling behind you; For who is there not knowing such things as these?

²⁰ that they may see and know, and regard and use intelligence together, for the hand of Yahweh did all this, and the Holy One of Israel created it."

⁵ Thus do you say unto your lords, I--I have made the earth with man, and the cattle that [are] on the face of the earth, by My great power, and by My stretched-out arm, and I have given it to whom it has been right in Mine eyes." ⁶ `And now, I--I have given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, My servant, and also the beast of the field I have given to him to serve him;"

¹⁸ You, O king! The Supreme Eloah granted the kingdom and majesty and esteem and honor to Nebuchadnezzar your grandfather."

¹⁷ And now hearken, Lord our Elohim, to the prayer of Thy servant and to his supplications. Light up Thy face over Thy desolated sanctuary on Thy account, my Lord:"

³⁵ Now, composing the throng, the scribe is averring, "Men! Ephesians!What man is there who does not know that the city of the Ephesians is sexton of the temple of the great Artemis and of that which fell from Zeus?

³⁶ seeing that out of Him and through Him and for Him is all: to Him be the glory for the eons! Amen!

⁵ Hear, my beloved brethren! Does not God choose the poor in the world, rich in faith and enjoyers of the allotment of the kingdom which He promises to those who are loving Him? ⁶ Yet you dishonor the poor one. Are not the rich tyrannizing over you? And they are drawing you to tribunals. ⁷ Are not they blaspheming the ideal name which is being invoked over you?

⁷ And forming is Yahweh Elohim the human of soil from the ground, and He is blowing into his nostrils the breath of the living, and becoming is the human a living soul.

¹⁷ And I, behold Me bringing a deluge of water over the earth to wreck all flesh, which has in it the spirit of the living, from under the heavens. All that is in the earth shall expire.

²² Then they fell on their faces and said:El, Elohim of the spirits for all flesh, as for the one man, he is sinning; but shall You be wrathful over the whole congregation?

³ As long as my breath is yet whole within me And the spirit of Eloah is in my nostrils,

⁴ The spirit of El, it has made me, And the breath of Him Who Suffices, it preserves me alive.

¹⁴ If He places it in His heart concerning him, He can gather back His spirit and His breath to Himself;" ¹⁵ All flesh would expire together, And humanity would return to the soil.

²⁹ You conceal Your face; they are filled with panic. You gather away their spirit; they breathe their last And return to their soil.

³ Do not trust in patrons, In a son of humanity with whom there is no salvation." ⁴ His spirit shall go forth, and he shall return to his ground; In that day his reflections perish."

²³ Over the Lord, the Eloah of the heavens, you exalt yourself; the vessels of His house they bring hither before you; you and your grandees, your consorts and your concubines are drinking turbid wine from them. Also elohim of silver, gold, copper, iron, wood, and stone who are not perceiving and not hearing and not knowing, these you laud, yet the Eloah in Whose hand is your breath, and for Whom are all your paths, Him you do not honor."

⁶ That which is begotten by the flesh is flesh, and that which is begotten by the spirit is spirit."

²⁵ neither is He attended by human hands, as if requiring anything, since He Himself gives to all life and breath and all."

²⁸ for in Him we are living and moving and are, as some poets of yours also have declared, 'For of that race also are we.'"

³⁰ Is there iniquity on my tongue? Or does not my palate understand woes?

³ For the ear tests declarations As the palate tastes food.

¹⁵ As to the prudent am I saying it. Judge ye what I am averring.

¹⁰ for you to be testing what things are of consequence, that you may be sincere and no stumbling block for the day of Christ,

¹⁴ Now solid nourishment is for the mature, who, because of habit, have faculties exercised for discriminating between the ideal and the evil."

³ if so be that you taste that the Lord is kind:

⁸ For ask, I pray, of the former generation, And establish yourself in the investigations of their fathers.

¹⁰ Moreover, among us are the greyhaired and hoary-headed, More abundant in days than your father.

⁷ I said to myself, Let days speak, And many years make wisdom known.

⁴ He is wise in heart and resolute in vigor; Who has stiffened himself against Him and fared well?

¹⁶ With Him are strength and prosperity; Both the erring one and the one causing error are His.

²⁰ From where then can wisdom come? And just where is the place of understanding? ²¹ It has been obscured from the eyes of every living thing, And from the flier of the heavens it has been concealed. ²² Abaddon and death say:With our ears we have heard report of it. ²³ Elohim, He understands its way, And He, yea He Himself knows its place. ²⁴ For He looks to the ends of the earth; He sees everything under the heavens. ²⁵ When He granted weight to the wind And when He regulated the waters by measure, ²⁶ When He imposed a statutory limit on the rain And a pathway for the perceptible portents of thunderclaps, ²⁷ Then He saw it and rehearsed it; He prepared it and also fathomed it. ²⁸ And He said to mankind, Behold, the fear of Yahweh, it is wisdom, And to withdraw from evil is understanding.

⁶ So Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said:I am junior to you in days, and you are hoary headed; Therefore I shrank back and was fearful From disclosing my knowledge to you. ⁷ I said to myself, Let days speak, And many years make wisdom known. ⁸ But surely it is the spirit in a mortal, And the breath of Him Who Suffices that gives them understanding. ⁹ Seniors may not be wise Or elders understand judgment.

⁵ Behold, El is abundant in vigor And does not reject the pure of heart.

³⁶ Who has set wisdom in the hidden parts? Or who has given understanding to the mind?

⁵ Great is our Lord and vast in vigor; As to His understanding, there is no enumeration of it."

⁶ For Yahweh Himself gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and comprehension; ⁷ He stores up sagacity for the upright, A shield for those walking with integrity,

¹⁴ Counsel and sagacity are mine; I have understanding; mastery is mine.

¹³ Who regulates the spirit of Yahweh, and which man is informing Him of His counsel? ¹⁴ Whom does He consult? And who is explaining things to Him, and is teaching Him, in judgment's path? And who is teaching Him knowledge, and the way of understanding is informing Him? Or, who has given to Him first and will be repaid by Him?

¹⁰ Telling from the beginning, the hereafter, and from aforetime, what has not yet been done. Saying, `All My counsel shall be confirmed, and all My desire will I do.'"

¹² The maker of the earth by His power, The establisher of the world by His wisdom, Who, by His understanding, stretched forth the heavens,

²⁰ Responding is Daniel and saying, "Blessed be the name of Him Who is the Eloah, from the eon and unto the eon, for the wisdom and the mastery, they are His."

¹⁵ for I will be giving you a mouth and wisdom, which all those opposing you shall not be able to withstand or contradict."

³⁴ For, who knew the mind of the Lord? or, who became His adviser?

²⁴ yet to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God and the wisdom of God,

⁸ which He lavishes on us; in all wisdom and prudence

¹¹ in Him in Whom our lot was cast also, being designated beforehand according to the purpose of the One Who is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will,

³ in Whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are concealed.

⁵ Now if anyone of you is lacking wisdom, let him be requesting it from God, Who is giving to all generously and is not reproaching, and it shall be given to him."

⁴⁶ This day does Yahweh shut you up into my hand--and I have smitten you, and turned aside your head from off you, and given the carcase of the camp of the Philistines this day to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth, and all the earth do know that Elohim is for Israel.

¹⁸ and you have declared to-day how that you have done good with me, how that Yahweh shut me up into your hand, and you did not slay me,

⁸ And Abishai said unto David, `Elohim has shut up to-day your enemy into your hand; and, now, let me smite him, I pray you, with a spear, even into the earth at once--and I do repeat [it] to him..

¹² Behold, should He abduct, who could turn Him back? Who could say to Him, What are You doing? ¹³ Eloah, He does not reverse His anger; The helpers of Rahab prostrate before Him.

¹⁰ If He should pass on by or lock up Or assemble a court, who could turn Him back?

¹¹ El surrenders me over to an iniquitous man, And He precipitates me into the hands of the wicked.

¹⁰ He breaks me down round about, so that I go away, And He uproots my expectation like a tree.

⁷ On the hand of every human He places a seal So that all men may know His work.

²³ And I make Babylon desolate, for a tenancy of the hedgehog, with watery marshes, and I mop it with the mop of extermination,averring is Yahweh of hosts."

²² And I bestow the key of the house of David on his shoulder. And he opens, and there is no locking, and he locks, and there is no opening."

² For you make of a city, a mound, a fortress town into a fallen heap, a citadel of the arrogant to be no city any more. It shall not be rebuilt for an eon."

⁵⁸ Thus said Yahweh of Hosts, the wall of Babylon--The broad one--is utterly made bare, And her high gates with fire are burnt, And peoples labor in vain, And nations in fire, and have been weary!"

⁶⁴ and said, Thus sink does Babylon, and it does not arise, because of the evil that I am bringing in against it, and they have been weary.' Hitherto [are] words of Jeremiah."

⁴ Though Edom shall say, We are destitute, yet we will return and will build the deserted places, thus says Yahweh of hosts:They will build, yet I will demolish. And they will call them Boundary of wickedness and The people whom Yahweh menaces till the eon."

³² For God locks up all together in stubbornness, that He should be merciful to all."

⁷ And to the messenger of the ecclesia in Philadelphia write: "Now this is saying the True, the Holy One, Who has the key of David, and Who is opening and no one shall be locking, and locking and no one shall be opening:"

¹³ And saying is the Elohim to Noah, "The era of the end of all human flesh is come before Me, for full is the earth with wrong because of their presence. Now behold Me ruining them with the earth.

¹¹ in the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month. On this day rent are all the springs of the vast submerged chaos, and the crevices of the heavens are opened,

¹⁷ Then the anger of Yahweh will grow hot against you, and He will restrain the heavens so that there shall be no rain, and the ground shall not give its crop, and you will perish quickly off the good land that Yahweh is giving to you.

³⁵ `In the heavens being restrained, and there is no rain, because they sin against You, and they have prayed towards this place, and confessed Your name, and from their sin turn back, for You do afflict them, ³⁶ then You do hear in the heavens, and have forgiven the sin of Your servants, and of Your people Israel, for You direct them the good way in which they go, and have given rain on Your land which You have given to Your people for inheritance.

¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, `Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, lives, before whom I have stood, there is not these years dew and rain, except according to my word..

¹⁰ In Whose hand is every living soul And the spirit in all flesh of man.

⁷ Yet from Your rebuke they fled; From the sound of Your thunder they hurried away. ⁸ They ascended over the mountains; They descended to the valleys, To the place that You had founded for them." ⁹ You placed a boundary that they would never pass; They shall never return to cover the earth.

²² Are there among the vanities of the nations any causing rain? And do the heavens give showers? Are not You He, O Yahweh our Elohim? And we wait for you, for You--You have done all these!"

⁸ The Maker of the Pleiades and Orion, and He Who is turning the shadow of death to morning, and darkens day to night, He Who is calling to the waters of the sea, and is pouring them out on the surface of the earth--Yahweh, Elohim of hosts, is His name!"

⁴ He is rebuking the sea, and is drying it, and all the streams He drains. Enfeebled is Bashan and Carmel, and the bud of Lebanon is enfeebled."

²⁵ Now of a truth I am saying to you, that many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when heaven is locked for three years and six months, as a great famine came to be over the entire land,

¹⁷ Elijah was a man of like emotions with us, and he prays in prayer for it not to rain, and it does not rain on the land three years and six months." ¹⁸ And again he prays, and heaven gives a shower and the earth germinates her fruit."

⁶ These have authority to lock heaven, that there may be no shower of rain for the days of their prophecy. And they have authority over the waters to be turning them into blood, and to smite the land with every calamity, as often as they will."

²² and he said, I go out, and have been a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets; and He said, You do entice, and also you are able; go out and do so. ²³ And now, lo, Yahweh has put a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all these your prophets, and Yahweh has spoken concerning you--evil..

¹³ With Him is wisdom and mastery; His are counsel and understanding.

⁷ Is it for El that you speak iniquity? And for Him that you speak deceitfully?

⁹ Would it be well if He were investigating you? Could you trifle with Him as one trifles with a mortal?

⁹ `And the prophet, when he is enticed, and has spoken a word--I, Yahweh, I have enticed that prophet, and have stretched out My hand against him, and have destroyed him from the midst of My people Israel."

¹³ And mayest Thou not be bringing us into trial, but rescue us from the wicked one.'"

³¹ and David declared, saying, `Ahithophel [is] among the conspirators with Absalom;' and David said, `Make foolish, I pray You, the counsel of Ahithophel, O Yahweh..

¹⁴ And Absalom said--and all the men of Israel--`Better [is] the counsel of Hushai the Archite than the counsel of Ahithophel;' and Yahweh willed to make void the good counsel of Ahithophel for the sake of Yahweh's bringing unto Absalom the evil.

²³ And Ahithophel has seen that his counsel was not done, and he saddles the ass, and rises and goes unto his house, unto his city, and gives charge unto his household, and strangles himself, and dies, and he is buried in the burying-place of his father.

¹⁴ With kings and counsellors of the earth, The builders of desert tombs for themselves,

¹² Whereat, indeed, are your wise? And, pray, will they tell to you, and will they know what Yahweh of hosts counsels over Egypt? ¹³ Foolish are the chiefs of Zoan! Lured away are the chiefs of Noph! They lead Egypt astray, the corner stone of its tribes." ¹⁴ Yahweh blends within it a depraved spirit. They lead Egypt astray in its every deed, as a drunkard strays in his vomit."

¹⁴ Wherefore, behold Me! I will proceed to distribute this people, and I am distributing them. And perish shall the wisdom of their wise, and the understanding of their understanding ones shall conceal itself."

¹⁹ For it is written, I shall be destroying the wisdom of the wise, and the understanding of the intelligent shall I be repudiating." ²⁰ Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the discusser of this eon? Does not God make stupid the wisdom of this world?

¹¹ and Yahweh brings in against them the heads of the host that the king of Asshur has, and they capture Manasseh among the thickets, and bind him with brazen fetters, and cause him to go to Babylon. ¹² And when he is in distress he has appeased the face of Yahweh his Elohim, and is humbled exceedingly before the Elohim of his fathers, ¹³ and prays unto Him, and He is entreated of him, and hears his supplication, and brings him back to Jerusalem, to his kingdom, and Manasseh knows that Yahweh--He [is] Elohim. ¹⁴ And after this he has built an outer wall to the city of David, on the west of Gihon, in the valley, and at the entering in at the fish-gate, and it has gone round to the tower, and he makes it exceeding high, and he puts heads of the force in all the cities of the bulwarks in Judah.

¹⁶ Oh Yahweh, seeing that I am Your servant, I am Your servant, son of Your maidservant, You have opened up my bonds;"

³¹ And it comes to pass, in the thirty and seventh year of the removal of Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the twelfth month, in the twenty and fifth of the month, has Evil-Merodach king of Babylon lifted up, in the year of his reign, the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brings him out from the house of restraint, ³² and speaks with him good things, and sets his throne above the throne of the kings who [are] with him in Babylon, ³³ and he has changed his prison garments, and he has eaten bread before him continually, all the days of his life." ³⁴ And his allowance--a continual allowance--has been given to him by the king of Babylon, the matter of a day in its day, till the day of his death--all days of his life."

²¹ He is altering the eras and the stated times, causing kings to pass away and causing kings to rise, granting wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those knowing understanding."

¹⁶ And on His cloak and on His thigh He has a name written: "King of kings and Lord of lords."

²⁴ And it comes to pass, when they bring out these kings unto Joshua, that Joshua calls unto every man of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war, who have gone with him, `Draw near, set your feet on the necks of these kings;' and they draw near, and set their feet on their necks.

⁴² and all these kings and their land has Joshua captured [at] one time, for Yahweh, Elohim of Israel, is fighting for Israel.

⁴⁵ And David said unto the Philistine, `You are coming unto me with sword, and with spear, and with buckler, and I am coming unto you in the name of Yahweh of Hosts, Elohim of the ranks of Israel, which you have reproached. ⁴⁶ This day does Yahweh shut you up into my hand--and I have smitten you, and turned aside your head from off you, and given the carcase of the camp of the Philistines this day to the fowl of the heavens, and to the beast of the earth, and all the earth do know that Elohim is for Israel.

²² He has drawn forth the sturdy ones by his vigor; He arises, and none can put reliance in their lives.

²⁸ But they caused the cry of the poor to be brought before Him, So that He heard the cry of the humble.

⁹ Under a multitude of extortions they cry out; They implore under the arm of those with great power.

³⁶ And faring forth is a messenger of Yahweh and smiting in the Assyrian camp a hundred and eighty five thousand. And the king is rising early in the morning--and behold! All of them are corpses--dead! ³⁷ And decamping, and going, and returning is Sennacherib, king of Assyria, and he is dwelling in Nineveh." ³⁸ And he is coming to worship in the house of Nisroch, his elohim, and Adrammelech and Sharezer, his sons, smite him with the sword. Yet they escape into the land of Ararat, and reigning is Esarhaddon, his son, in his stead."

¹ Thus says Yahweh Elohim to His anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I hold fast, to sway over nations before him, and the waists of kings will I unloose, to open the doors before him, and the gates shall not be closed."

¹⁴ These will be battling with the Lambkin, and the Lambkin will be conquering them, seeing that It is Lord of lords and King of kings, and those with It are called and chosen and faithful."

¹⁹ And I perceived the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered to do battle with Him Who is sitting on the horse and with His army." ²⁰ And the wild beast is arrested, and with it the false prophet who does the signs in its sight, by which he deceives those getting the emblem of the wild beast, and those worshiping its image. Living, the two were cast into the lake of fire burning with sulphur." ²¹ And the rest were killed with the blade which is coming out of the mouth of Him Who is sitting on the horse. And all the birds are satisfied with their flesh.

²⁴ Putting away wisdom of heart from the heads of the people of the earth, He also makes them stray in a roadless waste.

⁹ Seniors may not be wise Or elders understand judgment.

¹⁷ For Eloah caused her to be oblivious to wisdom And did not apportion understanding to her.

²¹ The lips of the righteous, they shepherd many, Yet the foolish die from lack of heart wisdom."

¹⁹ The lip of truth is established into the future, Yet the false tongue lasts only for a moment."

²² False lips are an abhorrence to Yahweh, Yet those who hold to truth enjoy His benevolence."

¹ For behold! the Lord, Yahweh of hosts, will take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole staff of water, ² the master and the man of war, the judge and the prophet, and the diviner and the elder, ³ the chief of fifty, and the reputable, and the counselor and the wise, the artificers and the one who understands charm whistling."

² And if you refuse to dismiss them, behold, I will be striking all your boundary with frogs.

²⁴ So they left it until the morning, just as Moses had instructed, yet it caused no stink, and no maggots came to be in it.

²³ `And also of Jezebel has Yahweh spoken, saying, The dogs do eat Jezebel in the bulwark of Jezreel;" ²⁴ him who dies of Ahab in a city do the dogs eat, and him who dies in a field do fowl of the heavens eat;"

²⁶ Have I not the blood of Naboth and the blood of his sons seen yesternight--the affirmation of Yahweh--yea, I have recompensed to you in this portion--the affirmation of Yahweh; --and now, lift up, cast him into the portion, according to the word of Yahweh..

³⁴ And he comes in, and eats, and drinks, and said, `Look after, I pray you, this cursed one, and bury her, for she [is] a king's daughter.. <sup>35</sup> And they go to bury her, and have not found of her except the skull, and the feet, and the palms of the hands. <sup>36</sup> And they turn back, and declare to him, and he said, `The word of Yahweh it [is], that He spoke by the hand of this servant Elijah the Tishbite, saying, In the portion of Jezreel do the dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel, ³⁷ and the carcase of Jezebel has been as dung on the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel, that they say not, This [is] Jezebel..

⁴⁰ He is pouring out contempt upon the tyrants, So that He causes them to stray in a wayless wasteland."

²⁷ None is faint and none is stumbling in it. None is slumbering nor sleeping, nor is opened the belt of his loins, nor is pulled away the lacing of his sandals;"

⁵ And it comes that righteousness is the belt of His waist, and faithfulness the band of His loins."

²¹ and I clothe him with your tunic, and with your sash I will make him fast. And your rule and your station will I give into his hand. And he becomes a father to the dwellers of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah. And I give him the glory of David, and he will be chief with no contender."

⁹ Yahweh of hosts counseled it, to violate the pomp of all stateliness, to make light of all the glorious of the earth."

²¹ And it comes in that day, Yahweh will check over on the host of the height, in the height, and on the kings of the ground, on the ground, ²² and they are gathered, a gathering imprisoned in a crypt, and closed in an enclosure, and for many days they will be missing."

Thus seven seasons shall pass on over you till you shall know that the Supreme is in authority in the kingdom of mortals and to whom He is willing He is giving it." ³³ In the same hour the declaration gathered on Nebuchadnezzar:From mortals is he shoved, herbage is he eating, as oxen, and the night mist of the heavens is streaking his frame, till his hair increased as vultures' feathers and his claws are as those of birds."

¹² And, being apprised in a trance not to go back to Herod, through another way they retire into their country. ¹³ Now, at their retiring into their country, lo! a messenger of the Lord is appearing in a trance to Joseph, saying, "Being roused, take along the little Boy and His mother and flee into Egypt, and be there till I should speak to you, for Herod is about to be seeking the little Boy to destroy Him"

²³ Now instantly a messenger of the Lord smites him, because he gives not the glory to God, and, becoming the food of worms, he gives up his soul."

¹⁰ For the rest, brethren mine, be invigorated in the Lord and in the might of His strength."

¹⁴ Stand, then, girded about your loins with truth, with the cuirass of righteousness put on."

¹² And one of his servants said, `Nay, my lord, O king, for Elisha the prophet, who [is] in Israel, declares to the king of Israel the words that you speak in the inner part of your bed-chamber..

⁵ May darkness and the blackest shadow sully it; May a cloud tabernacle over it; May rolling fogs of the day frighten it.

¹⁷ For altogether morning is a shadow of death to them, For each one values the decadence of the blackest shadow.

²⁰ From where then can wisdom come? And just where is the place of understanding? ²¹ It has been obscured from the eyes of every living thing, And from the flier of the heavens it has been concealed. ²² Abaddon and death say:With our ears we have heard report of it. ²³ Elohim, He understands its way, And He, yea He Himself knows its place.

²² There is no darkness and no blackest shadow To conceal there the contrivers of lawlessness.

²¹ Would not Elohim Himself investigate this? For He is knowing the obscured secrets of the heart.

¹² Even darkness, it is not darkening to You, And the night, as the day, is giving light; Darkness is as light."

²² He is revealing the deep and the concealed things; knowing what is in the darkness since with Him a stream of light solves them.

²⁶ Do not, then, be afraid of them, for nothing is covered, which shall not be revealed, and hidden which shall not be known."

⁷⁹ To make Its advent to those sitting in darkness and the shadow of death, To direct our feet into the path of peace."

¹⁰ Yet to us God reveals them through His spirit, for the spirit is searching all, even the depths of God."

⁵ So that, be not judging anything before the season, till the Lord should be coming, Who will also illuminate the hidden things of darkness and manifest the counsels of the hearts. And then applause will be coming to each one from God."

⁷ And the sons of Israel were fruitful and were swarming and numerous and very, very staunch. So the land was filling up with them.

²⁰ Hence Elohim dealt well with the midwives; and the people multiplied and were very staunch.

³⁸ Then He shall bless them, and they shall increase exceedingly, And He shall not let their domestic beasts decrease."

³ Increase do You the exultation; magnify wilt You the rejoicing. They will rejoice before You as the rejoicing in the harvest, as they are exulting in their apportioning the loot."

¹⁵ You wilt add to the nation, Yahweh; You wilt add to the nation. Glorified are You. Far do You extend all the ends of the land."

⁶ Those coming to take root, will be Jacob, and those blossoming and budding, will be Israel, and they fill the face of the habitance with produce."

² Look to Abraham, your forefather, and to Sarah, who travailed with you, for one was he when I called him and blessed him, and I loved him and will increase him."

²² The small one shall become a thousand, and the inferior a staunch nation. I, Yahweh, in its era, will hurry it."

¹⁹ And gone forth from them has thanksgiving, And the voice of playful ones, And I have multiplied them and they are not few, And made them honorable, and they are not small."

²² As the host of the heavens is not numbered, Nor the sand of the sea measured, So I multiply the seed of David My servant, And the Levites My ministers.'"

⁸ I shall hiss for them and convene them, for I ransom them, and they increase just as they have increased."

²⁰ Putting away the eloquence of the sure, He also takes away the discretion of elders.

⁴ They strayed in a wilderness, in a desolation; They could not find the way to a city of dwelling."

⁹ And He is saying to me, "Go, and say to this people:`Hear you to hear, yet you must not be understanding." ¹⁰ And see you to see, yet you must not be knowing. Stouten the heart of this people, and their ears make heavy, and their eyes make squint. Lest they are seeing with their eyes, and with their ears are hearing, and with their heart are understanding, and, turning back, then healing is theirs."

¹ LOAD OF EGYPT "Behold Yahweh riding on a thick cloud! It is fleet, and He comes to Egypt. And the forbidden idols of Egypt are swayed by His presence, and the heart of Egypt is melting within it."

¹⁶ His heart shall alter from a mortal's:The heart of an animal shall be granted to him;

³³ In the same hour the declaration gathered on Nebuchadnezzar:From mortals is he shoved, herbage is he eating, as oxen, and the night mist of the heavens is streaking his frame, till his hair increased as vultures' feathers and his claws are as those of birds."

¹¹ And Ephraim is becoming as an enticing, heartless dove. On Egypt they call; to Assyria they go."

¹¹ And the mortals who are at the portal of the house they smite with dazzlings, from the small to the great, so they are tiring themselves trying to find the portal.

²⁹ and you will come to be groping at noon just as the blind one gropes in the gloom, and you shall not prosper in your ways and will only become extorted and pillaged all the days, and there will be no saviour.

¹⁴ By day they encounter darkness, And as in the night, they grope at noon.

²⁷ They circled and staggered like a drunkard, And all their wisdom was swallowed up."

¹⁴ Yahweh blends within it a depraved spirit. They lead Egypt astray in its every deed, as a drunkard strays in his vomit."

²⁰ Swayed by swaying is the earth. And it staggers as a drunkard, and it wanders as a mariner, and its transgression is heavy upon it. And it falls, and is not proceeding to rise."

¹⁰ They are fumbling as the blind for the side wall, and, as if they have no eyes, they are fumbling. They stumble at noon as in the gloaming, among the stoutest as the death-doomed."

¹¹ And now, lo! the hand of the Lord is on you, and you shall be blind, not observing the sun until the appointed time.Now instantly there falls on him a fog and darkness, and, going about, he sought someone to lead him by the hand."

¹¹ Yet he who is hating his brother is in darkness and in darkness is walking, and is not aware whither he is going, for the darkness blinds his eyes."
