1 Καὶ (And) ὅτε (when) ἐγγίζουσιν (they drew near) εἰς (to) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem), εἰς (to) Βηθφαγὴ (Bethphage) καὶ (and) Βηθανίαν (Bethany), πρὸς (near) τὸ (the) ὄρος (Mount) τῶν (-) Ἐλαιῶν (of Olives), ἀποστέλλει (He sends) δύο (two) τῶν (of the) μαθητῶν (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him)
2 καὶ (and) λέγει (says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ὑπάγετε (Go) εἰς (into) τὴν (the) κώμην (village), τὴν (-) κατέναντι (before) ὑμῶν (you), καὶ (and) εὐθὺς (immediately), εἰσπορευόμενοι (entering) εἰς (into) αὐτὴν (it), εὑρήσετε (you will find) πῶλον (a colt) δεδεμένον (having been tied), ἐφ’ (upon) ὃν (which) οὐδεὶς (no one) οὔπω (not yet) ἀνθρώπων (of men) ἐκάθισεν (has sat); λύσατε (having untied) αὐτὸν (it), καὶ (also) φέρετε (bring it).
3 καὶ (And) ἐάν (if) τις (anyone) ὑμῖν (to you) εἴπῃ (says), ‘Τί (Why) ποιεῖτε (are you doing) τοῦτο (this)?’ εἴπατε (say), ‘‹Ὅτι› (Because) Ὁ (the) Κύριος (Lord) αὐτοῦ (of it) χρείαν (need) ἔχει (has), καὶ (and) εὐθὺς (soon) αὐτὸν (it) ἀποστέλλει (He will send) πάλιν (back) ὧδε (here).’”
4 Καὶ (And) ἀπῆλθον (they departed) καὶ (and) εὗρον (found) πῶλον (the colt) δεδεμένον (having been tied) πρὸς (at) θύραν (the door) ἔξω (outside), ἐπὶ (by) τοῦ (the) ἀμφόδου (street), καὶ (and) λύουσιν (they untied) αὐτόν (it).
5 καί (And) τινες (some) τῶν (of those) ἐκεῖ (there) ἑστηκότων (standing) ἔλεγον (were saying) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Τί (What) ποιεῖτε (are you doing) λύοντες (untying) τὸν (the) πῶλον (colt)?”
6 Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they spoke) αὐτοῖς (to them) καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (had commanded) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), καὶ (and) ἀφῆκαν (they allowed) αὐτούς (them).
7 καὶ (And) φέρουσιν (they led) τὸν (the) πῶλον (colt) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), καὶ (and) ἐπιβάλλουσιν (they cast upon) αὐτῷ (it) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (cloaks) αὐτῶν (of them), καὶ (and) ἐκάθισεν (He sat) ἐπ’ (on) αὐτόν (it).
8 Καὶ (And) πολλοὶ (many) τὰ (the) ἱμάτια (cloaks) αὐτῶν (of them) ἔστρωσαν (spread) εἰς (on) τὴν (the) ὁδόν (road); ἄλλοι (others) δὲ (then), στιβάδας (branches) κόψαντες (having been cut down) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) ἀγρῶν (fields).
9 καὶ (And) οἱ (those) προάγοντες (going before) καὶ (and) οἱ (those) ἀκολουθοῦντες (following) ἔκραζον (were crying out): “Ὡσαννά (Hosanna)!” “Εὐλογημένος (Blessed is) ὁ (the One) ἐρχόμενος (coming) ἐν (in the) ὀνόματι (name) Κυρίου (of the Lord)!”
10 “Εὐλογημένη (Blessed) ἡ (is the) ἐρχομένη (coming) βασιλεία (kingdom) τοῦ (of the) πατρὸς (father) ἡμῶν (of us), Δαυίδ (David)!” “Ὡσαννὰ (Hosanna) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ὑψίστοις (highest)!”
11 Καὶ (And) εἰσῆλθεν (He entered) εἰς (into) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem), εἰς (into) τὸ (the) ἱερόν (temple), καὶ (and) περιβλεψάμενος (having looked around on) πάντα (all things), ὀψὲ (late) ἤδη (already) οὔσης (being) τῆς (the) ὥρας (hour), ἐξῆλθεν (He went out) εἰς (to) Βηθανίαν (Bethany) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) δώδεκα (Twelve).
12 Καὶ (And) τῇ (on the) ἐπαύριον (next day), ἐξελθόντων (having gone out) αὐτῶν (they) ἀπὸ (from) Βηθανίας (Bethany), ἐπείνασεν (He was hungry).
13 καὶ (And) ἰδὼν (having seen) συκῆν (a fig tree) ἀπὸ (from) μακρόθεν (afar), ἔχουσαν (having) φύλλα (leaves), ἦλθεν (He went) εἰ (if) ἄρα (perhaps) τι (anything) εὑρήσει (He will find) ἐν (on) αὐτῇ (it). καὶ (And) ἐλθὼν (having come) ἐπ’ (to) αὐτὴν (it), οὐδὲν (nothing) εὗρεν (He found), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) φύλλα (leaves); ὁ (the) γὰρ (for) καιρὸς (season) οὐκ (not) ἦν (it was) σύκων (of figs).
14 καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), εἶπεν (He said) αὐτῇ (to it), “Μηκέτι (No more) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) αἰῶνα (age), ἐκ (of) σοῦ (you) μηδεὶς (no one) καρπὸν (fruit) φάγοι (may eat).” καὶ (And) ἤκουον (were listening) οἱ (the) μαθηταὶ (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him).
15 Καὶ (And) ἔρχονται (they come) εἰς (to) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem). Καὶ (And) εἰσελθὼν (having entered) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) ἱερὸν (temple), ἤρξατο (He began) ἐκβάλλειν (to cast out) τοὺς (those) πωλοῦντας (selling) καὶ (and) τοὺς (those) ἀγοράζοντας (buying) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἱερῷ (temple); καὶ (and) τὰς (the) τραπέζας (tables) τῶν (of the) κολλυβιστῶν (money changers) καὶ (and) τὰς (the) καθέδρας (seats) τῶν (of those) πωλούντων (selling) τὰς (the) περιστερὰς (doves) κατέστρεψεν (He overturned).
16 καὶ (And) οὐκ (not) ἤφιεν (He would permit) ἵνα (that) τις (anyone) διενέγκῃ (should carry) σκεῦος (a vessel) διὰ (through) τοῦ (the) ἱεροῦ (temple).
17 καὶ (And) ἐδίδασκεν (He began teaching), καὶ (and) ἔλεγεν (was saying) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Οὐ (Not) γέγραπται (has it been written) ὅτι (-): ‘Ὁ (The) οἶκός (house) μου (of Me) οἶκος (a house) προσευχῆς (of prayer) κληθήσεται (will be called) πᾶσιν (for all) τοῖς (the) ἔθνεσιν (nations)’? ὑμεῖς (You) δὲ (however) πεποιήκατε (have made) αὐτὸν (it) ‘Σπήλαιον (a den) λῃστῶν (of robbers).’”
18 Καὶ (And) ἤκουσαν (heard it) οἱ (the) ἀρχιερεῖς (chief priests) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes), καὶ (and) ἐζήτουν (they were seeking) πῶς (how) αὐτὸν (Him) ἀπολέσωσιν (they might destroy); ἐφοβοῦντο (they were afraid of) γὰρ (for) αὐτόν (Him); πᾶς (all) γὰρ (for) ὁ (the) ὄχλος (crowd) ἐξεπλήσσετο (was astonished) ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) διδαχῇ (teaching) αὐτοῦ (of Him).
19 Καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) ὀψὲ (evening) ἐγένετο (came), ἐξεπορεύοντο (they were going forth) ἔξω (out of) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city).
20 Καὶ (And) παραπορευόμενοι (passing by) πρωῒ (in the morning), εἶδον (they saw) τὴν (the) συκῆν (fig tree) ἐξηραμμένην (having been dried up) ἐκ (from the) ῥιζῶν (roots).
21 καὶ (And) ἀναμνησθεὶς (having remembered), ὁ (-) Πέτρος (Peter) λέγει (says) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ῥαββί (Rabbi), ἴδε (look), ἡ (the) συκῆ (fig tree) ἣν (that) κατηράσω (You cursed) ἐξήρανται (is dried up).”
22 Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) λέγει (says) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἔχετε (Have) πίστιν (faith) θεοῦ (from God).

24 διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this) λέγω (I say) ὑμῖν (to you), πάντα (all things) ὅσα (whatever) προσεύχεσθε (praying), καὶ (also) αἰτεῖσθε (you ask), πιστεύετε (believe) ὅτι (that) ἐλάβετε (you receive), καὶ (and) ἔσται (it will be) ὑμῖν (to you).
25 Καὶ (And) ὅταν (when) στήκετε (you may stand) προσευχόμενοι (praying), ἀφίετε (forgive) εἴ (if) τι (anything) ἔχετε (you have) κατά (against) τινος (anyone), ἵνα (so that) καὶ (also) ὁ (the) Πατὴρ (Father) ὑμῶν (of you), ὁ (who is) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heavens), ἀφῇ (might forgive) ὑμῖν (you) τὰ (the) παραπτώματα (trespasses) ὑμῶν (of you).”
26 27 Καὶ (And) ἔρχονται (they come) πάλιν (again) εἰς (to) Ἱεροσόλυμα (Jerusalem). καὶ (And) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἱερῷ (temple) περιπατοῦντος (is walking) αὐτοῦ (as He), ἔρχονται (come) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (Him) οἱ (the) ἀρχιερεῖς (chief priests) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) πρεσβύτεροι (elders).
28 καὶ (And) ἔλεγον (they were saying) αὐτῷ (to Him), “Ἐν (By) ποίᾳ (what) ἐξουσίᾳ (authority) ταῦτα (these things) ποιεῖς (are You doing)? ἢ (Or), τίς (who) σοι (You) ἔδωκεν (gave) τὴν (the) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ταύτην (this), ἵνα (that) ταῦτα (these things) ποιῇς (You should do)?”
29 Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) αὐτοῖς (to them), “Ἐπερωτήσω (I will ask) ὑμᾶς (you) ἕνα (one) λόγον (question), καὶ (and) ἀποκρίθητέ (you answer) μοι (Me), καὶ (and) ἐρῶ (I will tell) ὑμῖν (you) ἐν (by) ποίᾳ (what) ἐξουσίᾳ (authority) ταῦτα (these things) ποιῶ (I do).
30 τὸ (The) βάπτισμα (baptism) τὸ (-) Ἰωάννου (of John), ἐξ (from) οὐρανοῦ (heaven) ἦν (was it), ἢ (or) ἐξ (from) ἀνθρώπων (men)? ἀποκρίθητέ (Answer) μοι (Me).”
31 Καὶ (And) διελογίζοντο (they began reasoning) πρὸς (with) ἑαυτοὺς (themselves), λέγοντες (saying), “‹Τί (What) εἴπωμεν› (should we say)? Ἐὰν (If) εἴπωμεν (we should say), ‘Ἐξ (From) οὐρανοῦ (heaven),’ ἐρεῖ (He will say), ‘Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) οὖν (then) οὐκ (not) ἐπιστεύσατε (did you believe) αὐτῷ (him)?’

17 Καὶ (And) καταλιπὼν (having left) αὐτοὺς (them), ἐξῆλθεν (He went) ἔξω (out of) τῆς (the) πόλεως (city) εἰς (to) Βηθανίαν (Bethany), καὶ (and) ηὐλίσθη (He passed the night) ἐκεῖ (there).

6 Ἐγένετο (There came) ἄνθρωπος (a man) ἀπεσταλμένος (having been sent) παρὰ (from) Θεοῦ (God); ὄνομα (the name) αὐτῷ (to Him) Ἰωάννης (was John).
7 οὗτος (He) ἦλθεν (came) εἰς (as) μαρτυρίαν (a witness), ἵνα (that) μαρτυρήσῃ (he might testify) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) φωτός (Light), ἵνα (that) πάντες (all) πιστεύσωσιν (might believe) δι’ (through) αὐτοῦ (him).
8 οὐκ (Not) ἦν (was) ἐκεῖνος (He) τὸ (the) φῶς (Light), ἀλλ’ (but) ἵνα (that) μαρτυρήσῃ (he might witness) περὶ (concerning) τοῦ (the) φωτός (Light).
John 1:15-36

17 ὅτι (For) ὁ (the) νόμος (law) διὰ (through) Μωϋσέως (Moses) ἐδόθη (was given); ἡ (-) χάρις (grace) καὶ (and) ἡ (-) ἀλήθεια (truth) διὰ (through) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) ἐγένετο (came).
18 Θεὸν (God) οὐδεὶς (no one) ἑώρακεν (has seen) πώποτε (ever yet); μονογενὴς (the only begotten) Θεὸς (God), ὁ (the One) ὢν (being) εἰς (in) τὸν (the) κόλπον (bosom) τοῦ (of the) Πατρὸς (Father), ἐκεῖνος (He) ἐξηγήσατο (has made Him known).
19 Καὶ (And) αὕτη (this) ἐστὶν (is) ἡ (the) μαρτυρία (testimony) τοῦ (-) Ἰωάννου (of John), ὅτε (when) ἀπέστειλαν (sent) πρὸς (to) αὐτὸν (him) οἱ (the) Ἰουδαῖοι (Jews) ἐξ (from) Ἱεροσολύμων (Jerusalem), ἱερεῖς (priests) καὶ (and) Λευίτας (Levites), ἵνα (that) ἐρωτήσωσιν (they might ask) αὐτόν (him), “Σὺ (You), τίς (who) εἶ (are)?”
20 καὶ (And) ὡμολόγησεν (he confessed) καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἠρνήσατο (denied), καὶ (but) ὡμολόγησεν (confessed) ὅτι (-), “Ἐγὼ (I) οὐκ (not) εἰμὶ (am) ὁ (the) Χριστός (Christ).”
21 Καὶ (And) ἠρώτησαν (they asked) αὐτόν (him), “Τί (What) οὖν (then)? σὺ (You) Ἠλίας (Elijah) εἶ (are)?” Καὶ (And) λέγει (he says), “Οὐκ (Not) εἰμί (I am).” “Ὁ (The) προφήτης (prophet) εἶ (are) σύ (you)?” Καὶ (And) ἀπεκρίθη (he answered), “Οὔ (No).”
22 Εἶπαν (They said) οὖν (therefore) αὐτῷ (to him), “Τίς (Who) εἶ (are you)? ἵνα (That) ἀπόκρισιν (an answer) δῶμεν (we might give) τοῖς (to those) πέμψασιν (having sent) ἡμᾶς (us); τί (what) λέγεις (say you) περὶ (about) σεαυτοῦ (yourself)?”
23 Ἔφη (He was saying), “Ἐγὼ (I am) φωνὴ (a voice) βοῶντος (crying) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἐρήμῳ (wilderness), ‘Εὐθύνατε (Make straight) τὴν (the) ὁδὸν (way) Κυρίου (of the Lord),’” καθὼς (as) εἶπεν (said) Ἠσαΐας (Isaiah) ὁ (the) προφήτης (prophet).
24 Καὶ (And) ἀπεσταλμένοι (those having been sent) ἦσαν (were) ἐκ (out from) τῶν (the) Φαρισαίων (Pharisees).
25 καὶ (And) ἠρώτησαν (they asked) αὐτὸν (him) καὶ (and) εἶπαν (said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Τί (Why) οὖν (then) βαπτίζεις (baptize you), εἰ (if) σὺ (you) οὐκ (not) εἶ (are) ὁ (the) Χριστὸς (Christ), οὐδὲ (nor) Ἠλίας (Elijah), οὐδὲ (nor) ὁ (the) προφήτης (prophet)?”
26 Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) αὐτοῖς (them) ὁ (-) Ἰωάννης (John) λέγων (saying), “Ἐγὼ (I) βαπτίζω (baptize) ἐν (with) ὕδατι (water); μέσος (but in the midst) ὑμῶν (of you) ἕστηκεν* (stands One) ὃν (whom) ὑμεῖς (you) οὐκ (not) οἴδατε (know),
27 ὁ (the One) ὀπίσω (after) μου (me) ἐρχόμενος (coming), οὗ (of whom) οὐκ (not) εἰμὶ (am) ἐγὼ (I) ἄξιος (worthy) ἵνα (that) λύσω (I should untie) αὐτοῦ (of Him) τὸν (the) ἱμάντα (strap) τοῦ (of the) ὑποδήματος (sandal).”
28 Ταῦτα (These things) ἐν (in) Βηθανίᾳ (Bethany) ἐγένετο (took place), πέραν (across) τοῦ (the) Ἰορδάνου (Jordan), ὅπου (where) ἦν (was) ὁ (-) Ἰωάννης (John) βαπτίζων (baptizing).
29 Τῇ (On the) ἐπαύριον (next day) βλέπει (he sees) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) ἐρχόμενον (coming) πρὸς (to) αὐτόν (him) καὶ (and) λέγει (says), “Ἴδε (Behold) ὁ (the) Ἀμνὸς (Lamb) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ὁ (-) αἴρων (taking away) τὴν (the) ἁμαρτίαν (sin) τοῦ (of the) κόσμου (world).

32 Καὶ (And) ἐμαρτύρησεν (bore witness) Ἰωάννης (John) λέγων (saying) ὅτι (-), “Τεθέαμαι (I have beheld) τὸ (the) Πνεῦμα (Spirit), καταβαῖνον (descending) ὡς (as) περιστερὰν (a dove) ἐξ (out of) οὐρανοῦ (heaven), καὶ (and) ἔμεινεν (it remained) ἐπ’ (upon) αὐτόν (Him).

35 Τῇ (On the) ἐπαύριον (next day) πάλιν (again) εἱστήκει (was standing) ὁ (-) Ἰωάννης (John), καὶ (and) ἐκ (of) τῶν (the) μαθητῶν (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of him) δύο (two).
36 καὶ (And) ἐμβλέψας (having looked at) τῷ (-) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) περιπατοῦντι (walking), λέγει (he says), “Ἴδε (Behold) ὁ (the) Ἀμνὸς (Lamb) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God)!”

27 Ἀπεκρίθη (Answered) Ἰωάννης (John) καὶ (and) εἶπεν (said), “Οὐ (Nothing) δύναται (is able) ἄνθρωπος (a man) λαμβάνειν (to receive), ‹οὐδὲ (nothing) ἓν› (one) ἐὰν (if) μὴ (not) ᾖ (it is) δεδομένον (given) αὐτῷ (to him) ἐκ (from) τοῦ (-) οὐρανοῦ (heaven).
28 αὐτοὶ (Yourselves) ὑμεῖς (you) μοι (to me) μαρτυρεῖτε (bear witness), ὅτι (that) εἶπον (I said), [ὅτι] (-) ‘Οὐκ (Not) εἰμὶ (am) ἐγὼ (I) ὁ (the) Χριστός (Christ), ἀλλ’ (but) ὅτι (-) Ἀπεσταλμένος (sent) εἰμὶ (I am) ἔμπροσθεν (before) ἐκείνου (Him).’
29 Ὁ (The one) ἔχων (having) τὴν (the) νύμφην (bride), νυμφίος (the bridegroom) ἐστίν (is); ὁ (the) δὲ (now) φίλος (friend) τοῦ (of the) νυμφίου (bridegroom), ὁ (the one) ἑστηκὼς (standing) καὶ (and) ἀκούων (listening for) αὐτοῦ (him), χαρᾷ (with joy) χαίρει (rejoices) διὰ (because of) τὴν (the) φωνὴν (voice) τοῦ (of the) νυμφίου (bridegroom). αὕτη (This) οὖν (therefore), ἡ (the) χαρὰ (joy) ἡ (-) ἐμὴ (of mine), πεπλήρωται (is fulfilled).
