20 Dixitque ei: Forti animo esto, filia mea: Dominus cæli det tibi gaudium pro tædio quod perpessa es.

Geneva(i) 1 And when they were come to Ecbatane, they came to the house of Raguel: and Sarra met them, and after they had saluted one another, shee brought them into the house. 2 Then sayde Raguel to Edna his wife, Howe like is this yong man to Tobit my cousin! 3 And Raguel asked, Whence are you, my brethren? To whome they sayd, that they were of the tribe of Nephthalim, and of the captiues that dwelt at Nineue. 4 Then he sayde to them, Doe ye knowe Tobit our kinsman? And they sayd, We know him. Then said he, Is he in good health? 5 And they sayde, Hee is both aliue, and in good health: and Tobias sayd, He is my father. 6 Then Raguel leaped, and kissed him, & wept, 7 And blessed him, and sayde vnto him, Thou art the sonne of an honest and good man: but when he had heard that Tobit was blinde, he was sorowfull and wept. 8 And likewise Edna his wife, and Sarra his daughter wept. Moreouer they receiued them with a ready minde, and after that they had killed a ram of the flocke, they set much meat on the table. The sayd Tobias to Raphael, Brother Azarias, put forth those things whereof thou spakest in the way, that this businesse may be dispatched. 9 So he communicated the matter with Raguel, and Raguel sayde to Tobias, Eate, and drinke, and make merry. 10 For it is meete that thou shouldest marrie my daughter: neuerthelesse, I will declare vnto thee the trueth. 11 I haue giuen my daughter in marriage to seuen men, who dyed that night which they came in vnto her: neuerthelesse, be thou of a good courage and merry. But Tobias sayde, I will eate nothing here, vntill yee bring her hither, and betrothe her to me. 12 Raguel sayd then, Marry her then according to the custome: for thou art her cousin, and shee is thine. God which is mercifull, make this prosperous to you in all good things. 13 Then hee called his daughter Sarra, and shee came to her father, and he tooke her by the hande, and gaue her for wife to Tobias, saying, Beholde, take her after the lawe of Moyses, and leade her away to thy father: and he blessed them, 14 And called his wife Edna, and hee tooke a booke and wrote a contract, and sealed it. 15 Then they began to eate. 16 After, Raguel called his wife Edna, and sayde vnto her, Sister, prepare another chamber, and bring her in thither. 17 Which when she had done, as he had bidden her, shee brought her thither: then Sarra wept, and her mother wiped away her daughters teares, 18 And sayde vnto her, Be of good comfort, my daughter: the Lorde of heauen and earth giue thee ioy for this thy sorowe: bee of good comfort my daughter.
Bishops(i) 1 Then went they in to Raguel, which receaued them ioyfully. 2 And when Raguel loked vpon Tobias, he saide vnto Anna his wyfe: How lyke is this young man vnto my sisters sonne? 3 And when he had spoken this, he said: Whence be ye ye young men and our brethren? They saide: Of the tribe of Nephthali, out of the captiuitie of Niniue. 4 Then said Raguel vnto them: Know ye my brother Tobias? They saide: yea we know him well. 5 And when he had spoken much good of him, the angell saide vnto Raguel: Tobias of whom thou askest, is this young mans father. 6 Then Raguel bowed him selfe downe and wept, and toke him about the necke and kissed him, 7 And saide: Gods blessing haue thou my sonne, for thou art the sonne of a good vertuous man. 8 And Anna his wyfe and Sara his daughter wept also. 9 Now when they had talked together, Raguel bade kill a wether, & to make a feaste: And when he had exhorted them to sit downe to dinner, 10 Tobias saide: I wyll neither eate nor drinke here this day, except thou first graunt me my petition, and promise me to geue me thy daughter Sara. 11 When Raguel heard this, he was astonied, for he knewe what had happened vnto the other seuen men that went in vnto her: and he began to feare that it shoulde chaunce vnto him also in lyke maner. And while he stoode so in doubt, and gaue the young man no aunswere, 12 The angell saide vnto him: Feare not to geue him thy daughter, for vnto this man that feareth God, belongeth thy daughter to wyfe: therefore might none other haue her. 13 Then saide Raguel: I doubt not but God hath accepted my prayers & teares in his sight: 14 And I beleue he caused you to come vnto me for the same intent, that this daughter of myne might be maryed in her owne kindred according to the law of Moyses: And nowe doubt thou not but I wyll geue her vnto thee. 15 So he toke the right hande of his daughter, and gaue her into the right hande of Tobias, and saide: The God of Abraham, the God of Isahac, & the God of Iacob be with you, ioyne you together, and fulfill his blessing in you. 16 And they toke a letter, & made a writing of the mariage. 17 And then made they mery, and praysed God. 18 And Raguel called Anna his wyfe vnto him, and bade her prepare another chamber. 19 And thither he brought Sara his daughter, and she wept. 20 Then saide he vnto her, Be of good cheare my daughter: the Lorde of heauen geue thee ioy for the heauinesse that thou hast suffered.
DouayRheims(i) 1 And they went in to Raguel, and Raguel received them with joy. 2 And Raguel looking upon Tobias, said to Anna his wife: How like is this young man to my cousin? 3 And when he had spoken these words, he said: Whence are ye young men our brethren? 4 But they said: We are of the tribe of Nephtali, of the captiveof Ninive. 5 And Raguel said to them: Do you know Tobias my brother? And they said: We know him. 6 And when he was speaking many good things of him, the angel said to Raguel: Tobias concerning whom thou inquirest is this young man's father. 7 And Raguel went to him, and kissed him with tears, and weeping upon his neck, said: A blessing be upon thee, my son, because thou art the son of a good and most virtuous man. 8 And Anna his wife, and Sara their daughter wept. 9 And after they had spoken, Raguel commanded a sheep to be killed, and a feast to be prepared. And when he desired them to sit down to dinner, 10 Tobias said: I will not eat nor drink here this day, unless thou first grant me my petition, and promise to give me Sara thy daughter. 11 Now when Raguel heard this he was afraid, knowing what had happened to those seven husbands, that went in unto her: and he began to fear lest it might happen to him also in like manner: and as he was in suspense, and gave no answer to his petition, 12 The angel said to him: Be not afraid to give her to this man, for to him who feareth God is thy daughter due to be his wife: therefore another could not have her. 13 Then Raguel said: I doubt not but God hath regarded my prayers and tears in his sight. 14 And I believe he hath therefore made you come to me, that this maid might be married to one of her own kindred, according to the law of Moses: and now doubt not but I will give her to thee. 15 And taking the right hand of his daughter, he gave it into the right hand of Tobias, saying: The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob be with you, and may he join you together, and fulfil his blessing in you. 16 And taking paper they made a writing of the marriage. 17 And afterwards they made merry, blessing God. 18 And Raguel called to him Anna his wife, and bade her prepare another chamber. 19 And she brought Sara her daughter in thither, and she wept. 20 And she said to her: Be of good cheer, my daughter: the Lord of heaven give thee joy for the trouble thou hast undergone.
