And straightway He constrained the disciples to enter into a boat, and to go before Him to the other side, while He should dismiss the multitudes.
And, having dismissed the multitudes, He went up into the mountain, apart, to pray; and, evening coming on, He was there alone.
But the boat was now in the midst of the sea, distressed by the waves; for the wind was contrary.
And, in the fourth watch of the night, He came to them, walking on the sea.
And the disciples, seeing Him walking on the sea, were troubled, saying, "It is a ghost!" And they cried out for fear.
But Jesus straightway spake to them, saying, "Be of good cheer. It is I; be not afraid."
And Peter, answering Him, said, "Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come to Thee on the water."
And He said, "Come." And, going down from the boat, Peter walked upon the water, and came to Jesus.
But, seeing the wind, he was frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, "Lord, save me!"
And immediately Jesus, stretching forth His hand, took hold of him, and saith to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"
And, when they went up into the boat, the wind ceased.
And these in the boat worshiped Him, saying, "Truly Thou art God's Son."
