John 18:1-11

WPNT(i) 1 Having said these things Jesus went out with His disciples across the Kidron ravine, where there was a garden which He and His disciples entered. 2 Now Judas, the one betraying Him, also knew the place, because Jesus often met there with His disciples. 3 So Judas, having received the detachment of soldiers and operatives from the chief priests and Pharisees, he arrives there with lanterns, torches and weapons. 4 Then Jesus, knowing everything that was going to happen to Him, went forward and said to them, “Who are you looking for?” 5 They answered Him, “Jesus the Natsorean.” Jesus says to them, “I am he.” (Now Judas, His betrayer, was also standing with them.) 6 So when He said to them, “I am he,” they went backward and fell to the ground. 7 Then He asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” And they said, “Jesus the Natsorean.” 8 Jesus answered: “I told you that I am he. So if it’s me you’re looking for, allow these men to go;” 9 so that the word that He spoke might be fulfilled, “Of those you have given me I did not lose even one.” 10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, struck the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. (The servant’s name was Malchus.) 11 So Jesus said to Peter: “Sheathe the sword! The cup that the Father has given me, must I not drink it?”
