43 Joseph of Arimathea, a highly honored member of the council, who was himself looking for the kingdom of God, ventured to go to Pilate and ask for Jesus' body.
44 Pilate marveled that he was already dead; and summoning the centurion, he asked him if he was already dead.
45 And when he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph.
46 Joseph bought a linen cloth, took down the body of Jesus, wrapped it in the cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been cut out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb.
